Transcending Realms With My Leveling System As A Demon-Chapter 123: Moral Dilemma On A Train
Zylus has consequences, and those consequences are slowly catching up. It’s a slow burn, but it’s evident that something bad is bound to happen in his life.
That was Zylus Elwis, and this just summed up how he always was.
A darkened past can’t be cured by a bright future; those two things just don’t align. Although one can overshadow another, creating a new propaganda, changing the direction of one’s life.
But, if this were the case.
What would having a darkened past and a darker future result in?
Aside from this, Zylus continued to walk through the glamorous night, not many Demons were outside at this hour, but only a few.
He didn’t know it was possible, though, a poor individual sat in front of the side walls just beside Zylus, begging him for money.
"Please, sir, just one coin, please, please, I need this."
Zylus stopped, looked down at him pitifully, then started searching his pockets, taking out a copper coin.
The individual’s appearance couldn’t really be noticed based on first impression. Zylus didn’t know if they were a boy or a girl, or what their hair was, their eye colour, or how big their chest was. He couldn’t tell, not with the poor individual’s mudded torso and face.
Zylus tossed him one whole gold coin, throwing it down towards the poor individual, without getting too close.
"Should keep you good for a bit," Zylus whispered, "Use it to clean yourself up."
The stranger nodded in shock, catching the coin that fell into their palms, gripping it so hard that it didn’t fly away somehow.
"T-thank you, sir." The poor individual announced, grateful, "C-can, I-I, give you a hug?"
They asked, kindly.
Zylus scratched his head nervously, looking away, "Uhh, sorry about that, not trying to get myself dirty, you know?"
They nodded as Zylus began walking off, waving away into the train station he was about to enter.
But, in that moment, when he left that poor person alone, something started to feel off. In that moment, Zylus looked back at the poor person, though he wasn’t there anymore.
He tried focusing really hard, trying to understand where that individual could’ve disappeared off to in that short moment, yet couldn’t sense anything.
’A sign?’ Zylus thought, ’Weird...’
He shook his head left to right, then stepped forward, forgetting what he couldn’t face head on with. Zylus didn’t bother to waste anymore time than he had already, plus, the train might be leaving without him soon.
The Demon Train. Carries everyone from west to east across the Demon Realm, on the edge of their territories. One long train track runs across the entire region on the edge. There are six that exist, explaining why it comes and goes to every stop in just about 30 minutes.
Though Zylus didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes, waiting another cycle would’ve been quite the annoyance for him, so he started to rush.
...
A while later, just about 5 minutes, he arrived. Boarding the inside while scanning his ’cadet’ ID at the entrance. The train itself was long, tinted in metal and glass, going at about 5,000Km/h.
Zylus could’ve definitely run back himself, but it would’ve taken much longer and used way more energy than he wanted to.
"Alright, here we go," Zylus looked around, barely anyone inside, only a few, like twenty. "This is a nice seat."
The seats inside had red cushions, separated on either side, creating a pathway for individuals to get through towards the back.
It wasn’t something fancy with restaurants and ga ym, as some might have, but it was really useful and cool, good to go from place to place.
As Zylus took a seat by himself, he moved across to the window seat. Each seating area had a limit of 2 people per seating. Zylus spread his legs wide, covering the entire area, leaving no room for another person to sit beside him.
As he looked outside the window, they received a boarding message from the announcements above.
[Next Stop!]
[BlackSmith City!]
The voice came from above, one that sounded exactly like an announcement from Siri herself. And then, the doors Zylus initially came into began closing shut, as the train started to make its move.
[We’re Off!]
[Please Listen To The Rules Carefully!]
Being a Demon Cadet, or being part of the cadet course, allows an individual to board the train for free, while originally, it would cost 2 coppers per ride, not much, considering the eventual distance it can cover for you.
Most individuals inside the train were busy with some other stuff, and that’s when Zylus gained a signal to pee, a really long pee...
He got up and walked straight towards the washroom, in the middle of the train, just to the right. He went by a few Demons before getting there, but then unlocked the door.
"Excuse me, coming through."
Fortunately, no one was inside, so it would’ve been a quick one. As he entered, he felt a small shift in his body, slightly wobbling.
Common in quick transportation. Sometimes your body can’t handle the excessive speed on the train itself while walking on it. In one position, it wouldn’t affect you at all, and it shouldn’t have affected Zylus either, because his body can handle those excess speeds.
Once he entered the washroom, he shut the door behind him, locking it right after.
But then again, he began to wobble. The toilet seat’s cover was open, and the liquid inside was clean. The place itself was cramped, but big enough for a small piss.
Zylus fell to his knees again, just like back after The Orthus, both his hands sat across the toilet’s seat. His head was aimed directly inside of it, while his eyes widened.
’I feel like throwing up.’
Zylus’s mind and body hurt, but he waited, and waited, for it to come out. And that’s when things started to take a turn for the worse.
Things began coming out of his mouth, stuff he didn’t know about.
