Top Gamer Reincarnated as an Archmage-Chapter 49: Senior Sparring (1)
"Yeah, you could join our sword mastery class—"
"No, thanks," before Jyrana could even finish that sentence, Klaus instantly shut it down, not even interested in the offer.
"I hate to say this, Klaus, but," Bastian walked a step closer and examined Klaus’s body, "you do have a good build and potential talent for martial arts. Even if you don’t want to use them in the future, you could make good allies in the class."
’Allies, hm?’ Now that was a different case.
"Say, I will have a talk with the instructor of that class. Why don’t you join them?" He instantly shook his head, "not as a swordsman though, just watch and maybe spar with them as a mage."
’Huh, how would that even be good...if I beat them, they won’t be my allies, if I lose, then they’ll consider me weak and won’t become my allies yet again.’ Klaus wasn’t understanding now the point that Bastian was trying to make at this point.
However, at this point, Klaus was getting pressured by both Bastian and Jyrana, who was as excited as a puppy getting a new toy behind him.
"Sure, why not—" Instantly, she grabbed his hand and started jumping up and down.
"It begins in ten minutes. Let’s go!" Jyrana dragged him away without them being able to even say anything to Bastian, who just smiled, shocked at the display in front of him.
"I’ll just talk to the instructor then," Bastian sighed and started walking towards the teacher’s lounge.
—
Klaus was dragged away to a brand-new training ground which he had never seen before.
’Am I not her leader or something..? Why am I the one getting dragged?’ His feet were leaving marks on the ground as Jyrana dragged him to the middle.
The older students stared at him and Jyrana, spreading murmurs around. However, neither of them said anything.
"Why is that kid here?"
"Isn’t he a first-year?"
"Look at the other loser that lost to him," many even chuckled at Jyrana having the nerves to show up to class after losing to Klaus. However, she didn’t budge at all, not caring about their whispers.
"Now, quiet down," a hooded man approached the students, a silver blade hanging at his hips. His dark cloak covered his entire body, his physique, hair, face, everything, like a mysterious figure.
’Who is he?’ Klaus didn’t know him, but he could tell he was strong, not just by his aura, but because all the students instantly straightened and shut up as well.
"We have a guest for today’s class," he stood in front of Klaus, his face hidden in the shadows of his hood.
"Let me introduce myself," he pulled his hood down. His long black hair cascaded down past his jaw. His stubble beard could probably stab some women trying to kiss him. However, the most striking feature was his obsidian black eyes. At most, this man was in his mid-thirties.
"My name is Aurelion Kael Dravenhart," he extended his hand towards Klaus, who took it without a care in the world.
The students just stared amazed. None of them had seen their teacher like this, especially shaking someone’s hand.
"Am I hallucinating?"
"We must be seeing things right?"
’Is he trying to lick in because I’m from a martial artist family?’ Klaus didn’t understand the intention; however, he still shook his hand because why not?
As soon as Aurelion let go, he turned towards the class. "Let’s begin like we usually do. One hundred laps," he waved his hand, signalling for the run to start, and it did instantly. No one dared to complain or cry about it, including Jyrana, who instantly started running.
’Serves you all right—’
"You as well," he grabbed Klaus by the shoulder, his grasp firm and heavy on his petite shoulders.
"Uh?"
"You are in the class as well. Whether you wield a blade or not, a mage having a good physique is an extra point. So run," with that, he dismissed Klaus, pointing towards the students who were already running, and took a seat at the spectator grounds.
’I guess, but running would really build my physique...’ He sighed; however, he couldn’t really say no to a teacher, so he just started running...at last place.
’Oh?’ Surprisingly, it felt easy; his feet moved after one another as he overtook some of the last-place students with ease. However, his body and feet were way smaller, so he couldn’t outrun most of the students.
’I’m not even sweating. I guess that’s why my family is a prestigious martial arts one,’ he held back the urge to laugh and kept running, passing by some students who were already panting, sweat streaming down their bodies like a waterfall.
But he wasn’t even sweating, not even a tiny bit.
"Interesting," Aurelion watched from the stands as Klaus kept overtaking the senior students with ease.
"He has a similar body type to Friedrich..." He wiped something off his beard, "yet he is just like Gilhelm, a magician. Maybe he could be a mixture..." Mixtures did exist, mages who were able to wield weapons and use aura and martial arts, but they were extremely rare.
After some time, the students had finished running; many had shaking legs and shaking bodies, covered in sweat and tears from the run.
Klaus just stood still with Jyrana, who also seemed to be chilling after the run.
’This wasn’t even that bad,’ Klaus took some deep breaths as his heart rate was already calming down.
"Now moving onto the next drill," Aurelion stepped forward and lifted his sword, then pointed at Klaus.
"We are going to have one-by-one sparring. Everyone of you guys will spar against our mage here," As soon as he said that, many students broke out chuckling despite their panting form; however, some seemed nervous, those who had witnessed Klaus in the ranking tournament, and having the feat that he beat Jyrana already put him above some of them.
"Can he even beat any of us though?" A green-haired boy stepped forward, grasping the handle of his sword.
