Chapter 45: Sense a Shape

"Yes, you share many—"

"No," Klaus interrupted her, making her lose her train of thought as she was cut off.

"We are just both mages, that’s all," he turned around, leaving her stunned without bothering to look back.

’After all, he isn’t my actual brother,’ Klaus didn’t really care; he didn’t want to be compared to anyone; he wanted to be the strongest.

Which meant he had to be incomparably strong, and unlike everyone else.

By now, most of the students had arrived at their classes, so Klaus took out his timetable and analysed it for the day. The timetable had changed; it seemed to only display the day’s classes.

’Let’s see,’ he looked at his first class of the day, which just said Mana Sensing and Control, classroom 10A.

’Fuck, it’s pretty far...let’s do the Matthias method,’ he readied himself and smiled once as mana flowed through his veins.

’Mirror movement,’ instantly he teleported through the rushing students, his body turning into a blur as he flashed into the main building, then through the halls, number by number until he appeared in front of the exact door he needed.

’Great,’ the metallic door in front of him had 10A written on it as it spread open with a creak.

Inside, some students were already taking their seats; however, many of them turned towards the door as Klaus entered.

Inside, he instantly saw Matthias and Evaline both waving towards him from the back, so he just took a seat close to them.

Murmurs started spreading around instantly; however, he didn’t care at all.

’This should be good,’ Klaus actually looked forward to this class, since this would probably be one of the most useful ones for him and his progress towards becoming the strongest.

’Oh right,’

Just as he was about to turn around to say something to Evaline, the entire room’s pressure changed completely.

It was suffocating; some of the students even seemed to cough.

’What the hell?’ Klaus cleared his throat; however, the pressure subsided as the teacher finally stepped in.

Her platinum hair was straighter than a needle, her messy bangs slightly hiding her ice-blue eyes.

Klaus instantly recognised her.

’The librarian lady, Eirlys...’ He hadn’t expected her to be their teacher, especially for this class.

"Good morning everyone," her voice was just like birds chirping, gentle and seemed reassuring, yet it felt pressing for some reason.

’She’s definitely strong,’ Klaus could already tell that she was insanely powerful, well compared to them. Compared to Zephyr, this felt like nothing, a child’s play at most.

"Today we are going to talk about the basics of Mana Sensing and Control," as she lifted her hands, strands of mana shot out of her palms, wiggling around the students.

"Woahh!"

"I didn’t even know mana could do that..."

Klaus himself was amazed; he had seen spells but had never seen anyone control pure mana just for the sake of it.

She chuckled as the mana kept whirling around the classroom, "There are those who can control and sense mana way better than others," she swirled her hand and the mana went up and down, following the motions of her hand.

"We call them blessed."

’Blessed?’

"Most of them become the most powerful mages." She closed her palms and the mana in the classroom started circling around the students.

"Then will you become one of them?" Klaus’s question made the entire class silent, as some students even cleared their throats because of the embarrassing question; however, Eirlys just chuckled once and dismissed the mana.

"That goes onto my next point, as long as you have a good affinity to pair it with, then you can," her statement seemed dismissive, as if she was saying her affinity was limiting her.

’Doesn’t really answer my question,’ Klaus scratched the back of his head, ’unless she is hinting at her affinity being weak.’

"As you may know, once you launch a spell, it requires you to use mana," the students instantly nodded, understanding that their spells used mana; everyone already knew this.

’Obviously,’

"Mana sensing works in a way where..." Eirlys seemed to be searching for the correct words, just to make sure everyone understood it, "you can feel the mana your opponent is using if you focus enough."

’Yeah, that makes sense,’ some students seemed dumbfounded; however, Klaus understood it instantly for some reason; it seemed obvious, if one could sense mana, they could sense the mana behind the spells.

"However, that’s not the most useful thing; mana can guide you."

’Guide?’

"In a way where it can be of help, lead you to the correct path if you are lost; everything is possible as long as you have mana backing you."

’Could I be blessed?’ It was honestly a high possibility, since Klaus had his system...he was reincarnate...able to silently use spells, and able to use runes without a rune-quill; it definitely wasn’t out of the question.

"To sense the mana, though, you have to use your mind." Eirlys’s statement made many students turn around trying to ask others what she had meant; however, it was unnecessary as she continued.

"You have to focus, with everything you’ve got, on the mana around you, which is why we have an experiment for today."

’An experiment?’ Klaus straightened in his seat and looked behind him; Matthias and Evaline both seemed flabbergasted, not knowing what was coming up; no one knew what was coming up.

Eirlys smiled once, a small but knowing smile.

"I want all of you to close your eyes," instantly most of the students closed their eyes; however, some hesitated. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"I will be using my affinity, creating shapes in front of each student." Their eyes met, and Klaus closed his eyes as well, his eyelids making everything dark; the sound in the room instantly seemed to become louder as it became his direct focus.

"I want everyone to be able to tell me the shape floating in front of them, by sensing the mana."
