Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 569 - 567: Three-Person Birthday Meeting
The same morning, at the Hojo family.
The parents didn't come back last night, so Hojo Shouko only made breakfast for three.
Apart from hers and Hojo Tetsuji's, there was a portion for Yoshikawa Sayuri.
Of course, Yoshikawa Sayuri didn't sleep with Hojo Tetsuji last night but stayed in her room, sleeping with her.
The reason for staying over was simply that they wanted to urgently devise a foolproof plan to matchmake Aozawa and Phoenix Academy Maggie before the birthday party.
Hojo Shouko didn't participate at all in those plans; she merely made them some supper in the evening.
Initially, she didn't want to inquire about them, but seeing her brother and Yoshikawa-senpai's enthusiastic expressions.
Hojo Shouko couldn't help but ask, "Brother, have you figured out how to match Phoenix Academy's Senior and Aozawa-senpai?"
Before Hojo Tetsuji could answer, Yoshikawa Sayuri was already animatedly saying, "Shouko, don't worry, we've thought it through thoroughly. We guarantee that during this birthday party, Maggie and Aozawa will experience a couple-like game."
Hojo Shouko had a sense of heartache like watching a tragedy unfold yet feeling helpless.
Perhaps, like those scholars who foresaw a nation's future decline, the moral decay of humanity, yet couldn't change a thing, felt much the same way she did now.
The feeling of helplessness deeply enveloped her heart.
"That's good then."
Hojo Shouko uttered these words, silently cutting open the fried egg in her hand.
In about 100 billion years, the sun will burn out, and then the Earth will perish.
So there's no need to worry about such things.
Hojo Shouko's mind flashed with these jumbled thoughts, yet her expression remained so calm that no anomaly could be detected.
She speared the cut fried egg, bringing it to her mouth, yet found it tasteless.
Why does she still feel uncomfortable about things she already knew?
Hojo Shouko couldn't figure it out.
...
The Nomura Residence is located in Nishiikyo Mitsuchome, appearing like an ordinary Japanese-style courtyard, two stories, with a small yard outside.
Cherry trees are planted at the door, but unfortunately, it's not cherry blossom season now, so not a single vibrant blossom can be seen blooming on the branches.
Bright sunlight falls on the street outside, with no pedestrians in sight.
The environment appears very tranquil.
Phoenix Academy Maggie did not come by private car but chose to take the train and then walk to the Nomura Residence's entrance.
Mike and others spread out at a distance, not approaching here.
As she passed through the gate, her eyes revealed a trace of excitement.
This was her first visit to a friend's house. Previously, she and Makoto, Little Sayuri only met in clubroom activities, never having visited their homes.
Phoenix Academy Maggie curiously looked around; this was the Nomura Residence.
She reached out and pressed the doorbell.
Ding dong.
"I'm coming!"
Nomura True Wave's response came from inside, followed by the sound of thudding footsteps; the door opened, revealing a cozy little entryway.
Phoenix Academy Maggie glanced over, nodding, "This is indeed a nice house."
Upon hearing this, Nomura True Wave immediately gave her a neck lock.
"Makoto, what are you doing? I was genuinely complimenting you."
"I know, that's what makes it infuriating!"
Whenever Nomura True Wave thought of the grand mansion this person resided in, and then her complimenting her own house, she couldn't help but feel inexplicably irritated.
Squeak.
Phoenix Academy Maggie raised her hand, poking the face in close proximity, causing Nomura True Wave to release her hold, saying irritably, "Maggie, you've fallen, come in, Aozawa hasn't arrived yet."
"Obviously, you were the one who attacked first."
Phoenix Academy Maggie explained, placing her shoes in the entryway. With no fluffy slippers at the door, guests had to tread barefoot.
She walked into the living room, opening the door to find it arranged with decorations, some streamers hanging, and a banner above saying "Happy Birthday Furusawa Kyoichiro!"
Furusawa Kyoichiro sat there poised, dressed in a white T-shirt paired with black leisure pants, whose color heavily overlapped with what Nomura True Wave was wearing.
At this moment, Nomura True Wave had black hair tied into a ponytail, wearing a white tank top with black shorts below, revealing a pair of well-toned legs.
Phoenix Academy Maggie's gaze wandered between the two, her face breaking into a smile, "Happy birthday, Kyoichiro."
"Hmm."
Furusawa Kyoichiro nodded with a smile, standing up, "Would you like something to drink?"
"Orange juice is fine."
"Alright."
Furusawa Kyoichiro expertly retrieved orange juice from the refrigerator in the living room.
Watching his actions, Phoenix Academy Maggie's smile turned even sweeter, "Kyoichiro, you seem quite familiar with the Nomura Residence."
"I often visit her home. It feels like nothing changes."
Furusawa Kyoichiro casually explained, leading Phoenix Academy Maggie to break into a 'melon-eating' smile.
Nomura True Wave noticed her expression, stepping forward to hook her shoulder with considerable force, "Maggie, don't forget what needs to be done at this birthday party!"
"Makoto, I didn't say anything~"
Phoenix Academy Maggie assumed an innocent expression, but the laughter hiding in her eyes made Nomura True Wave quite agitated, tempted to again lock the neck of this daughter of a well-to-do family.
The doorbell rang, Nomura True Wave, as the host, naturally got up to head to the entryway, "Coming."
Phoenix Academy Maggie did not get up; the rambunctious noises from the entrance made it clear that Little Sayuri and Tetsuji had arrived.
Her doll-like porcelain face broke into a smile, gazing towards the living room's entrance.
Yoshikawa Sayuri and Hojo Tetsuji, needless to say, were accompanied by an unexpected guest.
That was a quiet young girl with black hair, dressed in a light green dress.
The curve of her chest was full, capable of earning Aozawa's applause.
Her skin was as white as snow, as delicate as scallion whites.
Hojo Shouko.
The smile on Phoenix Academy Maggie's face didn't change, but her eyes appeared a bit dark.
She found it strange in her heart; this was Furusawa Kyoichiro's birthday party. Why would Hojo Shouko, who wasn't in the same grade and class, appear?
She wasn't the type who was enthusiastic about socializing, making Maggie suspect some kind of ill intent.
Under her scrutinizing gaze, Hojo Shouko felt a bit nervous, her eyes dropping to her chest, unable to look down to her toes.
"Maggie, long time no see~"
"Little Sayuri, you're too exaggerated; it hasn't been that long."
"Isn't there a saying, one day, one day."
Yoshikawa Sayuri couldn't think of what to say next and cast her eyes on Hojo Tetsuji, making him a bit embarrassed.
He was a poor student too.
Phoenix Academy Maggie chuckled, saying, "A day apart feels like three autumns."
"Right, that's it!" Yoshikawa Sayuri replied with a giggle, choosing to sit on Phoenix Academy Maggie's right side.
She teased, "I thought that during the holidays, with Tetsuji accompanying you, you'd have forgotten all about me."
Yoshikawa Sayuri blushed.
Hojo Tetsuji also blushed, stammering, "L-lady, please don't say such embarrassing things."
"Eh, what's the big deal? You're already a couple; do you kiss every day?"
"Wh-what are you talking about?!"
Hojo Tetsuji and Yoshikawa Sayuri both reacted over-the-top with shock.
Phoenix Academy Maggie couldn't help but rant, "Are you guys naive elementary school students? So awkward."
Nomura True Wave laughed with squinted eyes, "Eh, does someone really have the right to say that?"
Suddenly hit by a returning boomerang, Phoenix Academy Maggie tried to stay calm, saying, "Actually, I have something very important to share with you all this time."
Upon hearing this, Yoshikawa Sayuri's eyes sparkled, "What important experience?"
Evidently, she mixed up what Phoenix Academy Maggie was about to say with Aozawa, assuming there was finally some significant development between them.
Yoshikawa Sayuri's heart started itching; she loved hearing her friends' love stories more than any sensational news.
Phoenix Academy Maggie didn't rush to speak, baiting them, "Let's wait until Aozawa arrives, and everyone is here." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Oh."
Yoshikawa Sayuri had a look of realization.
Could it be that the lady was about to launch a direct offensive and confess?
If so, wouldn't all the efforts she and Tetsuji made throughout the night be in vain?
But seeing her friend's romance progress, Yoshikawa Sayuri thought it was okay to be in vain.
Go for it, Maggie!
...
They didn't have to wait too long; Aozawa was always punctual and never late.
Occasionally arriving early, this time he didn't, as he spent a bit longer chatting with Morimoto Chiyoda, delaying his train ride.
He rang the doorbell.
"Coming~"
Nomura True Wave went to open the door, seeing Aozawa's outfit of short sleeves and shorts, black base with a gold dragon design sprawled across, making it look quite commanding.
"Full marks."
Nomura True Wave gave a thumbs-up, this attire unlike the usual, showing Aozawa put thought into it.
Aozawa smiled, stepped into the entrance, and asked, "Is everyone here?"
"Just waiting for you."
Nomura True Wave patted his shoulder, then closed the door, "Maggie has something important to say~"
She emphasized this sentence, with a teasing smile that caused Aozawa a slight misunderstanding.
Maggie, could it be that she wants to confess in public?
No, impossible, such behavior doesn't suit Maggie's character, but the ambiguous smile on Nomura True Wave's face...
On purpose?
This thought flashed through Aozawa's mind. He took off his shoes and walked to the living room.
The sliding door wasn't closed; the floor was covered with tatami, and a few people sat around a low table.
He spotted someone who shouldn't be there among the crowd.
Hojo Shouko was kneeling there, with a cup of juice placed in front of her.
What's going on?
This question flashed through Aozawa's mind as he stepped forward, "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Mr. Aozawa, according to social etiquette, you need to penalize yourself with three drinks."
Yoshikawa Sayuri's words made Aozawa chuckle as he sat down.
All the seats were taken except for the one on Phoenix Academy Maggie's left.
"No problem."
Aozawa downed the juice in front of him in one go, feeling rightfully a bit thirsty.
"Quite capable indeed."
Yoshikawa Sayuri laughed heartily, refilling his glass with orange juice.
Aozawa drank two more cups in a row.
Yoshikawa Sayuri clapped, giving him a thumbs up in praise, then turned to Phoenix Academy Maggie with an encouraging face, "Maggie, you can speak now!"
