Chapter 532: 530

Tokyo time 6:05 PM, Jerusalem time 11:05 AM.

The sun blazed like fire. A tent was set up outside Entrance Three.

Morimoto Chiyoda continued to examine the Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror. Wearing it, the world before her eyes was cloaked in a faint green filter.

The Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror was equipped with a mini-radar, capable of exploring nearby objects.

Even if humans couldn’t react to high speeds in time, the Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror could capture them in advance. The intelligent AI would then quickly make a prediction, analyzing the enemy’s most likely attack routes or escape directions.

At first, Morimoto Chiyoda was unaccustomed to this gadget. After practicing with it and growing used to the intelligent AI, she had to admit it was truly remarkable.

In some ways, human technology is also a kind of Superpower, just not as perverse as Dio’s.

"Minister Morimoto, time’s up. You should set off," a reminder came from a member of the Self-Defense Forces outside.

Morimoto Chiyoda was not in a hurry. She checked her backpack and equipment again to ensure there were no problems.

Only then did she step out of the tent and proceed along the clearly marked route.

This section of the route had no landmines and was one hundred percent safe. Other routes, however, were questionable. When countries buried mines, they didn’t notify anyone else, leaving everyone unclear about where other nations had placed theirs.

After all, every country wanted to enter the forest while also preventing others from entering without their knowledge. The result was a situation where no one could enter at will.

The same was true for communication.

Once inside the forest, contact with the outside world was impossible. Various interferences crisscrossed, preventing even satellite phones from getting a signal. This ensured the area within was completely cut off.

Morimoto Chiyoda stepped into the forest.

The forest air was hot, but a slight breeze rustled through the trees, dispersing the heat. Occasional pleasant bird calls drifted to her ears, lending the forest a somewhat peaceful atmosphere.

The Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror she wore only sensed moving, threatening objects, so her screen wasn’t immediately barraged with alerts upon entering the forest.

She adjusted the Explorer Mirror’s frame, and a 3D arrow appeared before her eyes, pointing toward the United States’ locator.

Officially, elites from different countries were not allowed to enter in pre-formed teams, but there was no prohibition against them forming groups once inside.

Naturally, the Western world would unite to deal with threats from the Eastern Great Nation and other East Asian nations.

Japan, given its circumstances, was naturally included in the Western world’s sphere.

Morimoto Chiyoda carefully navigated through the woods, not venturing deeper. The Explorer Mirror had a directional feature, indicating north, south, east, and west, to prevent her from getting lost.

...

Morimoto Chiyoda moved along the edge of the forest and arrived at the American gathering point.

She didn’t rush out. Instead, she observed her surroundings before lifting the Explorer Mirror to get a clear look at their faces. They were identical to the ones in the photos.

Morimoto Chiyoda stepped out and asked, "Are these the only people here?"

After surveying the area, she was certain no one else was hidden nearby. In other words, the only ones gathered were the three individuals before her.

The photos she had received in advance showed more people than this. Indeed, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines were America’s three most devoted followers.

Bryce Haddad, the elite sent by the United States, said, "It seems there’s been a slight problem. Let’s wait another three minutes. If no one else arrives, we’ll prepare to move." He was a prototypical Caucasian strongman with blond hair, blue eyes, and a powerful, well-trained physique.

Unlike Morimoto Chiyoda, he wasn’t fully armed, dressed casually in a camouflage vest and pants with a backpack slung over his shoulder.

Clearly, he was very confident in his own abilities.

The other two were Wang Ziyu from Korea and Manny Calung from the Philippines.

As for the other Western countries, not a single person was in sight.

It wasn’t that they hadn’t had time to arrive.

England’s designated entrance was close to America’s, so they should have arrived even before her. Yet, they were conspicuously absent, much like an insincere internet commenter promising a content creator they’ll "definitely check out the next one."

However, Morimoto Chiyoda wasn’t surprised by England’s choice; the tumultuous love-hate relationship between Britain and America was nothing new.

What she hadn’t expected was that even Canada had abandoned the United States.

Those countries probably formed another small group, she mused, to prevent their findings from being entirely claimed by the United States.

She refocused her thoughts and said, "You’re all quite confident in your abilities."

"In a dense jungle like this, unarmed combat is ideal. Firearms are limited by the terrain and become useless," Wang Ziyu said. He was slim with prominent temples, dressed in camouflage. His strong, powerful hands were evidence of his rigorous training.

Morimoto Chiyoda had heard of him: a Korean Taekwondo master with an undefeated record in five hundred fights.

"It’s different for a delicate woman." Wang Ziyu’s tone carried a hint of contempt; he clearly looked down on Morimoto Chiyoda for entering the forest fully armed.

Morimoto Chiyoda chuckled and shrugged. "They say the shorter a man is, the more he wants to prove he’s superior to women. That’s why sildenafil levels in the Han River are off the charts. Ah, a man can be incompetent, but he must never be impotent."

"You’re courting death!" Wang Ziyu’s expression changed drastically, as if she’d struck a nerve. Murderous intent flashed in his eyes.

"That’s no way to treat a lady," Manny interjected. His skin was brownish, and he had long arms and legs. He wasn’t exceptionally tall, around 1.8 meters, but his slender build made him appear quite lanky.

"Alright, everyone, we’re on the same team. No need to argue here," Bryce interjected. "I think it’s about time. It seems no one else is coming, so let’s set off. We’ll head to Dio’s Relics first to see if those Spells are still effective."

"Hmph." Wang Ziyu could only suppress his killing intent.

Morimoto Chiyoda chuckled softly. She wouldn’t indulge any man other than Aozawa.

...

The United States had used its most advanced intelligent AI to input the forest’s layout and the direction Julia had entered.

Then, based on the average stride of a young woman and the elapsed time, they calculated how far she might have walked into the forest.

From this, they delineated a probable area.

Even the intelligent AI couldn’t guarantee its accuracy, as it computed different possible routes each time.

The direction Morimoto Chiyoda and the others were heading was the one with the highest probability based on the AI’s route calculations.

This ambiguity suggested Julia had been disoriented, unable to distinguish directions, and had no idea where she was going.

Consequently, any nation subsequently trying to find Dio’s Relics within the forest would have to rely on luck.

Morimoto Chiyoda proceeded cautiously.

The forest by day was clearly different from at night. Animal cries occasionally drifted from afar, and nearby creatures scurried away upon spotting the four humans.

Collecting these creatures wasn’t the elites’ mission; dedicated research teams were responsible for capturing them for study.

This research was shared among the nations, significantly reducing competition between their scientific teams.

Only a few special creatures required their intervention for capture.

For instance, the mysterious flesh-bud creature that had attacked Tani—capable of burrowing into a human body—was deemed highly aggressive.

Morimoto Chiyoda raised her hand to part grass nearly as tall as herself. An overturned tree root lay before her, like a wall blocking their path.

The ground was carpeted with decaying leaves, and trees towering like skyscrapers made progress arduous.

This was also why Julia’s route had been so difficult to predict.

Morimoto Chiyoda chose to detour, passing under tree roots that formed a natural archway.

Wang Ziyu snorted. Pushing off from his toes, he leaped like a bird.

Then, an overwhelming sense of danger washed over him, sending chills down his limbs. A flash of regret shot through Wang Ziyu’s heart; he shouldn’t have chosen such an exposed leap out of sheer bravado. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Evading an attack in mid-air required time—time he clearly didn’t have.

In an instant, the upper half of his skull vanished, exposing the brain matter within. His body plummeted straight down.

BOOM!

Bryce threw a punch but missed the dark shadow. His expression turned grave as he quickly retreated, shouting, "Careful! It’s a bizarre bird!"

Morimoto Chiyoda pulled the pin from a smoke grenade and threw it.

Instantly, thick smoke billowed out, obscuring the three survivors and Wang Ziyu’s fallen corpse.

Crouching beneath the tree roots, Morimoto Chiyoda’s Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror had captured the bird’s trajectory on its radar in that fleeting moment, but she hadn’t been able to react in time.

It was too fast.

According to the Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror’s speed measurement, the bird was flying at 450 kilometers per hour!

This is tough, she thought, sharing the data with the other two.

Bryce sighed in relief upon hearing this. "No wonder," he said. "I thought my skills had deteriorated. Turns out this bird is faster than a peregrine falcon. That explains why I couldn’t hit it."

Morimoto Chiyoda was speechless for a moment, then retorted, "Do you even understand the crisis we’re in? Against that bird, our bodies are probably as fragile as paper. You all saw what happened to Wang Ziyu—his skull was gone in an instant, without a second’s delay!"

"That may be true, but you seem pretty excited yourself." Bryce chuckled. He couldn’t see Morimoto Chiyoda’s expression through the smoke, but he was certain she was relishing the thrill of this perilous situation. That would explain her tone.

"...Tsk, do you two have any ideas how to deal with it?" Morimoto Chiyoda didn’t deny it. Her heart pounded, and her blood ran hot in the face of the crisis. It was extraordinarily exciting.

Manny spoke up, "I’ll use Wang Ziyu’s body to lure the bird down. You take the shot when you get the chance."

"Okay." Morimoto Chiyoda agreed to the plan.

"I hope your marksmanship is good."

"Don’t worry. Within a hundred paces, I never miss."

Reassured, Manny moved through the smoke to Wang Ziyu’s corpse. He grabbed it with both hands. "I’ll run out to the right. Can you aim through the smoke?" he asked.

"I’m wearing the Intelligent AI Explorer Mirror; smoke or flashbangs won’t affect my vision." Morimoto Chiyoda hadn’t been able to react during the sudden attack, but now, prepared, she was confident she could.

Even if she missed, it wouldn’t be her dying.

Manny believed her.
