Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 510 - 508: Realistic Murder Mystery Games are More Fun (Part 1)
The palace was dim, bathed in an Underworld-like filter, exuding a gloomy, domineering imperial style.
Emily took out the Aze Red Stone from her pocket and showed it to the Emperor on the platform. Before the ambassador could utter her next sentence or clarify the matter of the altar, she suddenly noticed a silver light emerging on the surface of the Aze Red Stone.
Soon after, in the darkness, the pattern of the Silver Pentagram suddenly appeared on its surface.
She hadn’t figured out the specific reason, but instinctively sensed that something was wrong.
The silver light suddenly shot outwards.
The pentagram projected onto the ground three meters in front of Emily, and then a thick white beam shot out forcefully from its center.
The intense light that burst forth in that instant, similar to a flashbang, rendered Emily’s vision a searing white.
Tears uncontrollably welled in her blurred sight, and she vaguely saw the arrow formed by the white light piercing through the Emperor’s chest.
"ROAR!"
A deafening roar exploded. The Shadow Dragon coiled around the high platform rose, roaring, while the gigantic bird on the Emperor’s shoulder flew off frantically, cawing loudly.
That was indeed a three-legged crow, wasn’t it!
Emily was certain of this fact and then felt numb all over.
The Aze Red Stone would obviously not spontaneously take a dislike to the Emperor and attack him; it could only be that Dio had tampered with it.
No wonder that man, who explained nothing, had never intended to conduct a normal transaction with the Emperor from the beginning.
"Ah!"
The originally refined voice suddenly became furious, as if he’d been promised overtime pay after a solid week of it, only to not receive a single cent and get fined instead.
Scared, Emily let go of the Aze Red Stone.
The Silver Pentagram rotated and quickly expanded into a dazzling Giant of Light, unbelievably tall.
Even Tokyo Tower would only serve as a toothpick for this entity.
The magnificent Giant of Light stood within the palace, and the strong light it emitted made Emily completely blind even with her eyes open. She hurriedly closed her eyes, but the light still painted her vision blood red.
"Dio, how did you get in?"
With this roar, a sharp sonic boom whistled in her ears. She couldn’t see, yet she knew the other party was launching an attack.
In just an instant, Emily felt her eardrums shatter, her brain vibrating amidst the buzzing noise, and her reddened vision filled with flashes of golden light.
Dizzy and disoriented, she leaned back and fell.
Nausea and the urge to vomit, a series of negative physical reactions, surged through her, but she soon returned to a state of calm.
Emily slowly opened her eyes to find herself back above the Big Fat Sheep Bar.
The light from the bulbs above cast down, and in Emily’s eyes, the ordinary ceiling became more beautiful than any decoration.
She also noticed the blond man standing beside her, his auburn eyes staring at her as he asked, "I should have healed all your injuries. Are you alright?"
Hearing his concerned tone, Emily felt an urge to cry.
Not out of gratitude, but out of anger.
Could he not have mentioned his plan to act earlier?
He had scared her out of her wits without any mental preparation. She could have been shocked into a heart attack and nearly died from being caught in the crossfire.
Alas, she obviously couldn’t voice these complaints to Dio. She could only swallow them and say, "I really owe you one!"
She was gritting her teeth, each word forced out from between them.
Aozawa pretended not to notice her dissatisfaction and said gently, "No problem at all. What are friends for?"
FARK!
Emily really wanted to curse. Was this making friends? This was clearly making an irreconcilable enemy!
She clenched her fists secretly, repeatedly reminding herself that the world was beautiful and she shouldn’t be so irate.
Mainly because she couldn’t beat him.
If she could have, she would have long since swung her small fists, beating Dio until he was searching for his teeth on the ground.
Imagining such a scene, her mood improved considerably, and she asked, "Who won between you and the Emperor?"
"Killing the Emperor in the Shadow World is no easy task," Aozawa answered.
He had used Time Stop, having Shadow Soldiers disguise themselves as the Emperor and sit on the throne. Meanwhile, he himself used Element Replacement, switching first to the Wind Element and then to the Light Element. Shooting from the Aze Red Stone, he staged an assassination. The reason? Simply to enrich the plot he was weaving. With the Jade Dragon Flag already obtained, having fun became Aozawa’s primary goal. Anyone who has played murder mystery games understands: the more realistic the atmosphere, the more fun it is.
"Is that so?" Emily murmured, inferring from his answer that Dio had the upper hand.
But if the Emperor hadn’t died, wouldn’t she be in grave danger?
Emily swallowed hard and asked, "Will the Emperor send assassins after me in the future?"
"Don’t worry, the Emperor won’t do that. He wants to kill me more."
"But isn’t he unable to defeat you?"
"That was because I launched a surprise attack. In a head-on fight, the outcome between me and the Emperor is uncertain," Aozawa remarked, then emphasized, "There are no useless powers, only weak Angel Envoys. The Emperor is certainly not one of those weak envoys. It will be very difficult for me to make a move against him next time."
Gulp. Emily swallowed nervously and said in a trembling voice, "If the Emperor wants to deal with me, he’d only need to send one Shadow Soldier."
"Don’t be afraid. Based on my understanding of the Emperor, he won’t make a move on you, nor will he send anyone after you. Despite appearances, he’s exceedingly proud."
"Since you’re fine, I’m off," Aozawa said, then gradually turned into an invisible breeze and disappeared from the living room.
"Wait for me!" Emily couldn’t help but shout, but she received no response.
She looked at the empty living room, then at the shadows cast on the ground—the table’s, the sofa’s, her own.
The pitch-black color terrified Emily, fearing something might leap out and kill her with a single slash.
It wasn’t modesty on her part; her small frame wouldn’t even need a second blow.
Emily shivered with fear.
A circular ceiling light in the center of the living room emitted a soft glow, and the mega sound system played rhythmic light music.
Morimoto Chiyoda was practicing martial arts, her fists and feet swinging powerfully through the air. Her slender waist twisted as she delivered a whip kick that sliced through the air, soaring high above her head. Then she brought her right leg crashing down in an axe kick that ended with her in a full split, fully demonstrating her body’s flexibility.
Crystalline sweat appeared on her forehead, but she didn’t stop.
Morimoto Chiyoda wanted to maintain her martial skills and prevent them from regressing. As for improving, she no longer entertained such thoughts.
Humans have limits, and she had clearly felt hers. As for breaking through one’s own limits, that slogan sounded grand, but most people couldn’t achieve it. Morimoto Chiyoda knew she couldn’t break through.
Her cell phone on the table suddenly rang. She stopped her movements, took a few steps forward, and saw it was a call from Emily. She swiped her index finger and answered, "What’s up?"
"Morimoto, come to the Big Fat Sheep Bar."
"Okay."
Morimoto Chiyoda didn’t say anything more, detecting from Emily’s tone over the phone that something was off.
She hung up, then sent Aozawa a message: "I have to step out. Make sure you go to bed on time. Don’t wait up for me."
Sent. The message quickly lit up the screen of a phone in a small park, and the Shadow Soldier witnessing this promptly vanished.
Notified, Aozawa emerged from the shadows of the trees.
With the Shadow Notification feature online, Superpower Users no longer had to worry about replying to messages late.
Aozawa picked up his phone.
"Alright, just don’t stay out too late. I’ll be waiting for you in bed."
Seeing Aozawa’s quick reply, Morimoto Chiyoda was almost certain the boy was outside, enjoying a chat with Ayatsuki Ayaka. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The sneaky feeling must be thrilling for him, Morimoto Chiyoda thought, then replied, "Don’t even think about it. Tonight, you’ll use your hand, in your own bed. Dare to come into my bedroom, and I’ll break all three of your legs."
「Shinjuku, Big Fat Sheep Bar.」
Morimoto Chiyoda parked her Lamborghini by the roadside, not worried about theft.
Intelligence Department personnel were on guard in three shifts, twenty-four hours a day, non-stop.
If a thief lingered by the Lamborghini for too long, they’d likely be subdued by the intelligence personnel.
She glanced at the neon sign, descended the stairs, and at the end was a door. Pushing it open, she was greeted by mellow music.
Warm light flowed like water, bathing the bar, high stools, and floor.
Katerina stood there with a smile. "You’re here. Want something to drink?"
"Mix me a cocktail."
Morimoto Chiyoda replied, then glanced at Emily sitting there and walked over. "What happened?"
Emily morosely sipped her juice. "I almost died today."
Although Aozawa could ensure her safety, Emily was unaware. To her, it was as if she’d just taken a stroll through the Gate of Hell.
Morimoto Chiyoda sat down and asked seriously, "What happened?"
Emily didn’t hide anything; she hadn’t used the forum to contact Morimoto; she had called because she desperately needed to voice these thoughts aloud.
Considering her uncertain future, unsure when the Emperor might try to assassinate her, she wanted to see familiar people more often before she potentially died.
"When we were working together earlier, I was too serious. Sorry about that."
"Idiot."
Morimoto Chiyoda blurted out, seeing her dispirited demeanor. She raised her hand and ruffled Emily’s hair. "You’re just too tired, too stressed, that’s why you’re thinking about all that. Dio said the Emperor wouldn’t lay a hand on you. In my opinion, the Emperor really wouldn’t. If he were to attack you, wouldn’t that just prove he can’t do anything to Dio and can only resort to retaliating against you? Such an action would make him look weak."
These words made Emily blink, then widen her eyes. It really did make sense.
No wonder Dio said the Emperor wouldn’t touch her.
Emily instantly straightened up, her spirits revived. "Morimoto, you can actually say something useful at times."
"You’re so fickle!" Morimoto Chiyoda retorted.
Emily snapped out of it and glared. "Forget what I just said!"
"I recorded it."
"You better delete it now!"
Watching Emily playfully chase Morimoto Chiyoda, baring her teeth in mock anger, Katerina let out a sigh of relief.
She much preferred seeing Emily full of smugness and vigor, rather than dejected.
