Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 466 - 464: The onlookers see more than the gamesters_1
The sea shimmered, and Yoshikawa Sayuri stood on the flybridge deck of the yacht.
She could see an island not far away.
A snow-white beach spread out on the other side of the island. Beyond the dense jungle loomed a magnificent-looking castle.
It was even more beautiful than the castle she had seen at Disneyland.
"Maggie, is that your family’s island?"
She was shocked by the sight, feeling as though she had boarded a yacht and accidentally wandered into a fairytale world.
The sky here was so blue, the water so clear you could see the bottom, and the bright sunshine made every grain of sand on the beach glitter with a silvery light.
Dozens of seagulls were flying freely.
She had been to Okinawa and Kanagawa with her parents, but the scenery in those places couldn’t compare to this small island.
Phoenix Academy Maggie brushed her wind-tousled curls aside and chuckled. "That’s our family’s island, named after the Phoenix Academy. The castle was built fifteen years ago and is filled with European-style furnishings."
"Fifteen years, huh."
Yoshikawa Sayuri, her face filled with amazement, gazed at the magnificent castle and sighed, "Maggie, you really are a princess."
"It’s not that dramatic."
"How is this not dramatic?"
Nomura True Wave muttered, then glanced at Aozawa, noticing his calm expression, completely unfazed by the island.
Hojo Tetsuji beside them was also unperturbed, but Nomura True Wave was certain his nonchalance stemmed from not knowing the island’s value.
Phoenix Academy Maggie turned around and said, "Alright, let’s go change into our swimsuits first. Aozawa, you and Tetsuji go change into your swim trunks, and while you’re at it, bring the sun umbrella and other things to the beach for us."
"Alright, no problem," Aozawa replied with a smile.
They then went back inside the yacht.
Phoenix Academy Maggie, Nomura True Wave, and Yoshikawa Sayuri entered the yacht’s master bedroom below deck. The wardrobe here was so large you could change clothes inside it. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"WOW!" Yoshikawa Sayuri exclaimed again. Looking at the swimsuits hanging inside, she said, "They all look so mature. Don’t you have any student-style ones?"
"Yes, there’s a light blue student-style one here." Phoenix Academy Maggie rummaged for a moment and pulled out a swimsuit that would suit Yoshikawa Sayuri’s figure perfectly.
She also knew that not every body type was suited for those mature, adult swimsuits. Some figures were clearly better suited to student swimsuits, which accentuated their youthfulness and drew less attention to their physique.
Yoshikawa Sayuri took the swimsuit from her. She then looked at the other two, a look of mock despair on her face. "We’re all high school students, so why have your figures developed so differently from mine?"
"Okay, okay, say what you want, but don’t pound on my chest," Phoenix Academy Maggie retorted, then added with a humblebrag, "It’s genetic. I actually wish mine were smaller; having a large chest makes my shoulders ache."
"UWAA! Now you’re saying the one thing I absolutely can’t stand!"
"Let’s not talk about this. Hurry up and change into your swimsuits, or we’ll keep them waiting," Nomura True Wave said with a smile, ending the topic. She started to undress and change into a bikini from the wardrobe.
She chose an orange striped one.
"It’s a shame Furusawa couldn’t make it," Yoshikawa Sayuri said.
"There’s nothing to be done," Nomura True Wave replied. "Koshien starts tomorrow, and he’s still training today to prepare."
"It really is a shame, especially since Makoto is wearing a bikini," Yoshikawa Sayuri teased.
"Hey, what does me wearing a bikini have to do with him?" Nomura True Wave blinked, realizing Yoshikawa Sayuri’s words were a bit strange.
Phoenix Academy Maggie said with a teasing smile, "Hehe, childhood sweethearts, and you still say things like that? You must know all of each other’s little habits by now, right~?"
"Wh-who would be interested in that lolicon!" Nomura True Wave hurriedly explained, stressing, "We’re just childhood friends! That’s a perfectly normal relationship, isn’t it?"
"It’s hard to say," Phoenix Academy Maggie mused. "I don’t think Furusawa is really a pervert. He just has an equal fondness for all small things. I once saw him arranging coins on a chair, looking like he treasured them immensely."
"I also saw him once saying how cute tardigrades are," Yoshikawa Sayuri added.
The two of them ganged up on her, leaving Nomura True Wave at a loss for words.
That’s how it always is with childhood friends; people always imagine you have *that* kind of relationship.
"I told you, it’s not that kind of relationship!" Nomura True Wave’s eyes darted. She decided to switch from defense to offense. "As expected of the Young Lady, pure white as snow from head to toe~"
"Maggie, have you shaved... down there?" Yoshikawa Sayuri asked bluntly.
"It’s natural!" Phoenix Academy Maggie retorted, blushing. She quickly put on her swimsuit, ending the gossip.
"You dressed up so specially today," Nomura True Wave continued, turning the tables. "Don’t tell me you’re trying to seduce Aozawa with this bikini that just oozes mature feminine charm~?"
She scanned the bikini Phoenix Academy Maggie was wearing. It had a purple-black base and was adorned with tiny, sparkling crushed diamonds.
"I’ve heard that women who like purple-black tend to be... quite passionate and not easily satisfied."
"You’re not very subtle when you try to change the subject, are you?" Phoenix Academy Maggie retorted, the blush on her cheeks receding.
Nomura True Wave grinned mischievously. "Hey, as long as it works. I know you act all calm, but inside you’re totally freaking out."
"Don’t say such baseless things. Alright, let’s not delay any longer." Phoenix Academy Maggie changed the subject again, pushing Nomura True Wave by the shoulders toward the door.
...
Compared to the girls’ hassle of changing swimsuits, Aozawa and Hojo Tetsuji were much quicker. They stripped off their clothes and changed into the swim trunks provided by the Phoenix Academy family.
"These feel a bit more comfortable than the pants I usually wear," Hojo Tetsuji remarked, feeling the fabric.
"Well, they were prepared by Maggie," Aozawa replied. "They’re hardly going to be the same as the cheap stuff we usually wear."
He then noticed they had a lot to carry: a sun umbrella, lounge chairs, beach towels, drinks, and a watermelon.
"Can’t we get some maids to help carry this?" Hojo Tetsuji asked.
Mike, who was nearby, replied, "The Young Lady wants to maintain a certain atmosphere, so she prefers no attendants. It’ll just be you all enjoying yourselves there."
"What about you, Mike?" Hojo Tetsuji asked.
"My job right now is bodyguard. How could I join in the fun? I need to patrol the other areas. The Young Lady’s safety is in your hands."
Mike’s words made Hojo Tetsuji pause, a feeling that something was off.
Aozawa retorted, "If we’re protecting Maggie, then who exactly are you, the bodyguard, protecting?"
Mike declared solemnly, "I’m responsible for guarding against potential dangers in unseen areas."
"Fine, let’s go." Aozawa, not expecting much from him anyway, casually picked up the sun umbrella, then grabbed the bucket with the watermelon, tucking a beach towel under his arm.
Hojo Tetsuji also grabbed a large load of things.
The two of them left the yacht, not taking the usual gangway, but jumping straight down onto the sand.
Their bare feet landed on the beach, the fine sand already warmed by the sun.
The sea breeze brushed Aozawa’s face. He took a deep breath and walked forward. The azure seawater and white sand created a striking contrast.
"The seawater is so clear, it looks like you could just scoop it up and drink it," Hojo Tetsuji marveled.
"Seriously," he continued, "how long do you think someone would have to work to afford an entire island like this?"
"Tetsuji," Aozawa said, "I don’t think that’s something you need to consider. A manga artist could work their whole life and never afford this island."
"Not even a famous one?"
"Nope." Aozawa shook his head.
Hojo Tetsuji grew thoughtful. So, manga artists did have their limits... No, this was when he needed to surpass the limits of all manga artists, to reach heights no manga artist had ever achieved before!
"I must work hard and aim to win this year’s rookie award!" he declared.
"Tetsuji, you always get fired up about the weirdest things," Aozawa commented.
"Speaking of which, where should we put all this stuff?" Hojo Tetsuji asked.
"I don’t know either," Aozawa replied, continuing to walk. Just then, Phoenix Academy Maggie’s voice drifted towards them from behind, carried on the sea breeze.
"Okay, just put it down over there!"
The two of them stopped and looked back.
Golden sunlight bathed the beach as the three girls walked towards them, facing the sea breeze, their hair fluttering.
Aozawa was momentarily stunned. An image suddenly flashed through his mind: if only Chitose and Iroha could be here too. In the future, there would definitely be a chance to see a sight like that.
"Aozawa," Hojo Tetsuji sighed, "at this moment, I feel like I could die without any regrets."
His eyes were filled with the sight of Yoshikawa Sayuri in her swimsuit. Through his love-tinted glasses, she was the most beautiful girl in the world.
"Tetsuji, have some dignity," Aozawa said, elbowing him in the ribs. "Set up the lounge chairs and the sun umbrella."
"You’re right! I can’t let Little Sayuri get sunburned!" Hojo Tetsuji quickly snapped to attention. He started setting up the sun umbrella and the three lounge chairs, then used the drinks and watermelon to weigh down the colorful beach towels.
They placed the cups and other items on a low table.
After their setup, the beach instantly had the vibe of a Hawaiian resort.
The three girls approached.
"Thanks for all your hard work, you two~" Nomura True Wave said with a giggle, her eyes sweeping over them. "Aozawa, I’ll leave it to you to apply sunscreen thoroughly for our Young Lady. Make sure you get her whole body~"
"I already put some on inside," Phoenix Academy Maggie said, lightly slapping her friend’s hand. Her face was carefully neutral to hide her inner panic. That sort of thing was far too intense for her. "Don’t make jokes like that."
"Let’s go swimming!" Yoshikawa Sayuri chimed in eagerly. A lifebuoy was already around her waist. Combined with her flat chest, she looked like a carbon copy of Emily.
Aozawa glanced at her. "Yoshikawa, you don’t know how to swim?"
"Hehe, I’ve never learned," Yoshikawa Sayuri said, scratching the back of her head. "School has swimming lessons, but they don’t provide lifebuoys, so I barely dared to get in the water."
Hojo Tetsuji quickly offered, "I’ll teach you! I’m an expert swimmer! I’ve even swum across the Sea of Japan before!"
"That’s amazing!"
Amazingly, Yoshikawa Sayuri didn’t doubt his claim in the slightest, because she had no real idea how vast the Sea of Japan actually was.
Phoenix Academy Maggie stretched her limbs. "Shall we race to see who can swim the farthest?"
"Sure thing," Aozawa readily agreed.
Nomura True Wave chuckled. "Count me out. I’d rather lie here, enjoy the sea breeze, sip my drink, and soak up the vacation vibes. You guys go have fun."
