Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 423 - 421
Ayatsuki Ayaka returned to her home’s doorstep, looking at the narrow courtyard and the modest two-story building.
It usually didn’t seem like a problem, until she rode in Morimoto Chiyoda’s Bugatti Veyron. Now, as she looked at this scene, she suddenly realized the huge gap between ordinary people and the wealthy.
Just that Bugatti Veyron alone could probably match the value of her house.
I’m really poor.
Ayatsuki Ayaka understood once again exactly where she stood in the social hierarchy.
She sighed slightly in her heart but still walked back home.
No matter how wonderful the outside world might be, it had nothing to do with her.
This was her home.
Her parents were ordinary office workers, and her sister was a shut-in light novel author.
She was a small blogger with only a thousand subscribers.
But Ayatsuki Ayaka wasn’t disheartened; she believed her future would surely improve.
She twisted the doorknob and shouted, "I’m back!"
There were three more pairs of shoes on the shoe cabinet in the entryway.
Saeko and the others are way too early! Ayatsuki Ayaka thought to herself, as she took off her shoes, her bare feet padding on the cold floor as she walked towards her room.
"Oh," Ayaka mumbled, a chip still in her mouth.
Seeing her silly sister, the chip that Ayaka had been holding between her lips slid down and fell onto her chest.
The two sisters both inherited their mother’s excellent genes.
If Ayaka wasn’t mistaken, her sister had left the house this morning wearing an off-shoulder T-shirt paired with ultra-short shorts and fishnet stockings, not this kind of dress attire.
Even the fishnet stockings are gone?
What on earth happened in between?
What kind of encounter could produce such intense results?!
A fiery curiosity for gossip burst forth in Ayaka’s heart, and she could no longer maintain her lazy posture.
Seeing her sister enter her bedroom, she quickly scrambled on all fours, swiftly approaching Iroha’s door.
She pressed her ear to it, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation inside.
「...」
Inside the room, Ayatsuki Ayaka’s outfit also aroused surprise in Takahashi Saeko and the others.
Miyahara Kaoru even dashed up to her, saying with a hint of jealousy laced in her astonishment, "Iroha, did you and Aozawa...?"
Ayatsuki Ayaka’s expression stiffened, then her face and ears reddened, as she replied irritably, "Kaoru, don’t talk nonsense here. Nothing happened between Aozawa and me."
"Wow–nothing at all, yet you’ve already changed clothes. If you *had* done something, you’d probably be walking on air," Takahashi Saeko teased.
Tama Chan couldn’t hide the curious expression on her face and hurriedly moved forward, saying, "Iroha, tell us the truth, did you or did you not..."
"I didn’t do that sort of thing! Aozawa and I went to explore that cursed mansion today, right? There really was a ghost there. I swung a punch, and it just dispersed. Then it took off both my clothes and Aozawa’s and threw them outside." Ayatsuki Ayaka immediately explained what happened, wanting to prevent them from concocting wild stories and to clarify the misunderstanding with Chitose.
"By the way, I’m only telling you guys about the exploration. You absolutely must not tell anyone else. Sister Chitose warned me not to spread the word too much, lest it attract others and lead them into danger."
Takahashi Saeko nodded, not thinking that Ayatsuki Ayaka was lying, but a contemplative expression crossed her face. "I never imagined you’d raise the white flag to Morimoto Chiyoda so quickly."
"I-I haven’t surrendered! I’ve just established a temporary friendly diplomatic relationship." Ayatsuki Ayaka quickly shook her head, denying it. She didn’t want to share her ingenious ideas with Saeko and the others yet, as things hadn’t developed to that point.
If possible, she still wanted to monopolize Aozawa as much as she could.
A genius idea is an ace in the hole, not a trump card to throw down right at the start.
Takahashi Saeko pinched her cheek, smiling. "You better keep it that way. You must absolutely not surrender so early; we still have a chance to win. Also, don’t refer to Chitose so affectionately; that woman is the smile-and-stab-you-in-the-back type. She can definitely be all smiles and friendly with you, and then stab you in the back."
"Saeko, that’s going too far." Ayatsuki Ayaka pouted. She didn’t like it when people spoke ill of her friends in front of her. She would get angry if Chitose badmouthed Saeko, and likewise, if Saeko badmouthed Chitose.
Friends of friends don’t necessarily have to become friends, but they definitely shouldn’t speak ill of each other.
Takahashi Saeko shrugged. "Okay, whatever you say."
"Let’s not talk about that stuff," Tama Chan clapped her hands together, smiling broadly. "Since the curse is real, let’s talk about other places; I’ve heard that..."
While they chatted away inside, Ayaka, outside the door, stood up, her expression growing more blank by the second. She felt that by burying herself in writing at home, she had completely lost touch with the world.
She had always thought that the incidents acknowledged by The White House and widely publicized online were just conspiracies.
They’re real?!
The outside world is too dangerous, I’d better stay a shut-in forever, Ayaka suddenly felt.
「...」
"Iwaai Asa gained Superpowers upon awakening."
This phrase, written by Aozawa in the Book of Destiny, appeared before his eyes, then gradually disappeared.
As expected, the Book of Destiny couldn’t bestow the extraordinary fate of having Superpowers on others.
He chose to do this test simply because he wanted to see if he could satisfy Maggie’s craving for Superpowers. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
But clearly, her desire had exceeded what Aozawa could satisfy.
In fact, without conducting the test, he already knew that the Book of Destiny could not grant humans Superpowers.
If it could grant Superpowers to Superpower Users, then those creatures he had created before would not merely be oddities.
The Demon immune to lightning and the Ghost with a body different from normal humans—these creatures might seem absurd, but in reality, they did not transcend the concept of being creatures; they were merely a bit peculiar but not extraordinary.
Of course, using the Ability of the Book of Destiny, Aozawa could bestow great fortune upon these peculiar creatures, enabling them to do all sorts of bizarre things.
For example, as long as the three-day period he had planned for a Ghost did not expire, then during this period, no one, doing anything, could eradicate the Ghost.
Or move the Ghost to another place.
The Ghost was graced with a destiny more powerful than any mere supernatural ability.
Unless Aozawa, the creator himself, took action to strip the Ghost of its destiny, it was absolutely impossible for the Ghost to perish within that timeframe.
He deactivated the Fate Weaving Ability, and the book and pen once again turned into strands of thread, disappearing into the air. The Defense Barrier was already nearing the villa.
Chitose has probably parked the car by now.
Aozawa went from the living room to the entrance and saw a foot push open the door. He smiled and said, "Welcome back, Chitose~"
The moment the words fell, he immediately made a heart sign. "Casting Love magic on you to dispel your fatigue~"
"I’m surprised you didn’t get caught."
Morimoto Chiyoda had to admit that the method Iroha had mentioned seemed to genuinely work.
She used her foot to close the door, handing over all the bags of meat, vegetables, and a case of white spirits to Aozawa.
He took them, not finding them heavy at all, and said with a grin, "I told them I was a track and field athlete, and the police didn’t stop me from running here from Arakawa District; they even cheered me on!"
"You sure are clever."
Morimoto Chiyoda said, taking off her shoes and stepping onto the floor, "Let’s have hot pot tonight, and you’re drinking with me."
"No problem," Aozawa replied with a smile.
Morimoto Chiyoda’s eyes flashed with the hunger of a predator that had spotted its prey.
Tonight, there will definitely be bloodshed.
「...」
GLUB, GLUB. Bubbles rose in the hot pot.
Night embraced the courtyard outside, and the lush green grass took on a deeper shade.
With the air conditioning on during summer, eating hot pot was truly delightful.
Three bottles of spirits were already empty, and who knew how many vegetables had been eaten. Aozawa noticed that there were still two plates of sliced beef left on the table.
"That guy is nothing but a swindler, claiming his arm could absorb calamities; it was all just a scam. I had him arrested. That kind of bastard deserves to be locked up!"
Morimoto Chiyoda vented about work, her fair cheeks tinged with a faint flush and her eyes hazy, as if she might collapse on the table at any moment.
Aozawa, seeing her like this, knew very well that she was truly drunk and couldn’t continue drinking.
"Alright, Chitose, don’t drink too much. It’s time to rest."
"Don’t stop me, I want to keep drinking!"
Despite saying that, Morimoto Chiyoda kept trying to pour from the empty bottles.
Aozawa got up, moved behind her, and gently grabbed her shoulders, saying softly, "Alright, let’s change locations to drink, okay?"
"Hmm..." Morimoto Chiyoda hummed through her nose. She’d been rambling on for so long that even she was getting impatient; this boy finally knew to make a move.
For Morimoto Chiyoda, who was always punctual with work, these tasks were easily manageable and hardly worth complaining about; she just wanted an excuse to drink and get herself drunk.
Swaying unsteadily, she stood up, leaning against Aozawa, intent on lighting his fire.
Aozawa carefully supported Morimoto Chiyoda as they left the living room and entered the bedroom.
The room was dim; the lights weren’t on, nor was there any need for them.
He was not drunk and could clearly see the layout of the room as he guided Morimoto Chiyoda to the bed.
"I still want to drink..."
Her breath, heavy with alcohol, wafted onto Aozawa’s cheek. He said softly, "Okay, just wait here, and I’ll get the spirits."
Covering Chitose with a thin blanket, he turned, left the room, and closed the door behind him.
The bedroom plunged into darkness.
Aozawa returned to the living room to tidy up the table but then noticed the Defense Barrier was moving.
He quickly left the living room.
Down the hallway, Morimoto Chiyoda dashed into the living room, lifted him, and threw him down onto the sofa. "Why didn’t you pounce on me?! You idiot! Do I have to spell it out for you?"
"Eh?"
Aozawa was stunned, suddenly realizing that her work complaints were likely false, yet he still hadn’t reacted.
His clothes had already been ripped off and thrown aside by Morimoto Chiyoda.
"This is so irritating! What do you think I drank all that for?"
Buoyed by the alcohol, Morimoto Chiyoda took off her top and tossed it aside.
She lowered her head, her eyes, like a predator’s fixed on its prey, gleamed.
Her tongue licked the corner of her mouth.
The first bite of the cabbage she had nurtured for ten years wouldn’t go to any other girl.
"Tomorrow, don’t even think about having the strength to stand."
