Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 81: Already Wedding Dress Shopping
"If the hospital really had a solution, why would they issue critical condition notices every day?"
"What do you know?" Ruby Shelby glanced discontentedly at Zoe Monroe, "This is just a lucky coincidence, don’t you dare speak of it outside."
Harry Yves turned back and glanced at Vera Yves, "You’re practicing medicine again?"
Vera hesitated for a moment, then shook her head, "I’m just helping out."
Harry Yves replied with a sullen face, "Helping? Do you think they appreciate it?"
Hannah Hayes pushed the door open with a smile, "Tell me how our Vera stumbled upon such a fortunate coincidence?"
Ruby Shelby looked a bit embarrassed.
Matthew Monroe said indifferently, "No one can say for sure how Grandpa Monroe recovered, but I advise some people not to take credit."
Zoe Monroe glared at him in displeasure, "Brother!"
Hannah Hayes was fuming, her chest heaving, "Does the Monroe Family have any conscience? It was Old Master Monroe who was ill, and only our Vera was willing to help. If it were anyone else, Vera wouldn’t even care!"
Matthew Monroe mocked, "She was fawning over Miles for so many years, and now that he’s finally back, even marriage doesn’t stop her from continuing."
"What kind of joke is that? Our Vera is the wife of the Valentine Group’s president! Why would she need to cozy up to the Monroe Family?"
"She knows whether she’s fawning herself!"
Vera Yves looked coldly at Matthew Monroe, "Grandpa Monroe has always doted on me, treating him is only right. As for you..."
"What about me?"
Vera Yves said coldly, "Your hair is dry and yellowish, you’ve got puffy eyes, severe dark circles, and bluish-black ears. Seems like Grandpa Monroe being in the ICU hasn’t stopped you from seeking women."
Matthew Monroe looked somewhat embarrassed, "What do you mean?"
"You’re not even thirty, yet your body is severely exhausted." Vera Yves commented calmly, "If you don’t control yourself, you might not even be able to have children in the future."
"You..." Matthew Monroe’s face turned blue and white.
Ruby Shelby was worried, "Will it really affect having children in the future?"
Vera Yves smiled slightly, "Getting an infectious disease certainly affects having children."
Matthew Monroe, relying on his good looks over the years, was notorious in Imperia as a playboy.
His current appearance clearly shows excessive indulgence, completely unchecked.
"Vera Yves!" Matthew Monroe rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight.
"Matthew Monroe!" Miles Monroe descended from the second floor, his eyes cold and filled with warning.
Matthew Monroe gritted his teeth angrily, grabbed a nearby coat, and left The Morgan Estate.
Penelope Langley then entered with a smile, speaking to Hannah Hayes, "The old master has been talking about you all. Come, I’ll go upstairs with you."
Hannah Hayes was still angry, her face not looking good, but she couldn’t offend Penelope Langley and reluctantly followed Harry Yves.
Zoe Monroe hooked Vera Yves’ arm apologetically, "Vera, don’t take my brother seriously, he’s just chaotic."
Vera Yves shook her head.
Old Master Monroe was still a bit weak, but his complexion was evidently much better than before.
Harry Yves exchanged polite pleasantries with Hannah Hayes and then got up to leave. Vera Yves also wanted to leave, but Old Master Monroe called her back, "Vera, stay with Grandpa a bit longer."
Vera Yves had no choice but to sit down again.
"This girl, married now, but hardly visits the Monroe Family anymore, all my love for you over the years seems wasted."
Vera Yves smiled, "Didn’t I come?"
Old Master Monroe sighed, "Are you still angry at that kid Miles?"
Vera Yves shook her head.
"He’s him, I’m me; Grandpa is old, might not see you any day now."
"Grandpa Monroe, you’re healthy, don’t overthink."
"I had a serious illness; now I’m very weak, Vera, would you help Grandpa adjust his health, okay?"
Vera Yves knew Old Master Monroe was intentionally trying to bridge the two families, but the people of the Monroe Family...
Old Master Monroe remained calm, "Ignore them. Do they think they can decide for me?"
Vera Yves could not refuse further.
As she exited, Miles was waiting outside, and though a week had passed, his face still bore a few bruises.
"I’ll draft a prescription for Grandpa Monroe and prepare a diet plan for him." Vera Yves went to his side, "He wants me to help him recuperate."
Miles nodded, "Stay for lunch."
Vera Yves shook her head, "I have other things."
Miles sighed, "Then talk with me now."
They went to the side hall on the second floor.
Vera Yves asked calmly, "Did you find out about Winston Valentine and Cecilia Vaughn which led you to fight him?"
Miles said helplessly, "Vera, I truly can’t ignore things concerning you."
Vera Yves recalled the calls she made when Grandpa passed away.
"Miles, over the years without you, I’ve actually been fine."
"You call this fine?"
"I’ve gotten through times even worse than this, all by myself."
Vera Yves looked at him and smiled, "I’m not a child anymore; I don’t need your shelter. My marriage may be troubled, but it’s a path I chose, and I can manage."
"Vera, I want to help you."
"But what can you help me with?" Vera Yves’ eyes reddened. She took a long time to understand that if someone doesn’t like you, no amount of effort changes it.
This marriage with Winston Valentine only further proved that point.
On the way back to The Yves Family, Hannah Hayes finally abandoned the idea of linking Mark Yves with Zoe Monroe.
Her gaze fell on Vera Yves.
"When are you going back? You and Winston are both young, living apart like this will affect your relationship."
Hannah Hayes had been asking daily this week, and Vera Yves was tired of answering.
"Vera, surely not because of Miles..."
"Mom!" Vera felt a severe headache.
"Didn’t you hear how awful Matthew Monroe spoke?" Hannah Hayes snorted coldly, "It’s even worse in the circles! They say you’re about to be replaced! Winston Valentine sent you away, but how quickly you’ve returned!"
Vera Yves watched Hannah Hayes’ mouth move and could already imagine her reaction upon knowing about the divorce with Winston Valentine.
She didn’t want to face Hannah Hayes’s hysteria just yet. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"When haven’t they rumored I’m about to be replaced?"
"This time the rumors seem credible; someone saw Cecilia Vaughn shopping for a wedding dress and said Winston Valentine will divorce you to marry her! Isn’t that nonsense?"
Have they already started choosing wedding dresses? In such a hurry.
Hannah Hayes grew angrier as she spoke, "The day you really divorce Winston Valentine, the wealthy wives will be laughing mad! I’ll be looked down upon!"
Vera Yves felt guilty.
"Tonight I promised Mrs. Warren from Apex Trading you’d attend a charity gala with me, make an appearance." Hannah Hayes’ tone was firm, "Let them know who the true Mrs. Valentine is."
"I’m not going!"
"If you want to watch your mom being humiliated, don’t go!"
Ultimately, Vera Yves couldn’t resist Hannah Hayes and was dragged to the auction scene in the afternoon.
Hannah Hayes had little interest in such auctions, mainly bringing Vera Yves for exposure.
The plan was to spend a few million casually for charity.
Yet, each bid she made was countered by higher bids; Hannah Hayes looked and saw Cecilia Vaughn and Samantha Warren sitting not far away.
