Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 54: Giving You Everything Mrs. Valentine Deserves
Stella Valentine sat down next to Melinda Shelby, her spine straight, looking smugly at Vera Yves, with the face of a petty person flaunting success.
Old Mrs. Valentine disapproved, "Vera didn’t know..."
Melinda Shelby smiled at her, "Mom, it’s a fact she slapped the girl. Asking her to pour a cup of tea and apologize, is that too much to ask?"
Old Mrs. Valentine couldn’t say more.
Among the four daughters-in-law of the Valentine family, the Shelby family’s initial support to the Valentine family was the greatest. Additionally, Melinda Shelby is now the head of The Shelby Group, so Old Mrs. Valentine usually shows her some deference.
Melinda Shelby saw Vera Yves remaining motionless and lowered her face, "What are you standing there for, come over and pour tea!"
Vera Yves still did not move, only coldly looking at Stella Valentine, "Next time, if you dare run your mouth at me again, I’ll slap you the same."
Winston Valentine’s indulgence of Cecilia Vaughn had already made Vera Yves understand that only those who were favored could act with impunity, and she could only rely on herself.
Stella Valentine hurriedly covered her face and began to cry again, "Auntie, look at her!"
"There is surveillance at the boutique. Whatever she said to me, why she got hit, it’s all clearly recorded there." Vera Yves’ voice was cold, "I don’t feel I need to apologize to her."
Stella Valentine was somewhat guilty.
Melinda Shelby sneered, "So, you did indeed take Tristan Valentine’s illegitimate daughter to the boutique?"
"I didn’t know her identity."
"Vera Yves, do you think by pleasing Cleo Sutton, you can change mothers-in-law?" Melinda Shelby picked up a teacup from the table and splashed it towards Vera Yves’ face.
A force pulled Vera Yves away, causing the tea to spill into empty air.
Winston Valentine protected Vera Yves behind him and looked at Melinda Shelby, "Mom, the woman’s identity hasn’t been confirmed; why be angry?"
Melinda Shelby saw him shielding Vera Yves, "Your wife has already become someone else’s sister-in-law, yet I’m not supposed to get mad! Does everyone think I’m dead or something?"
With a "bang!", Melinda Shelby threw the teacup onto the ground, and it shattered instantly.
Old Mrs. Valentine looked at the ceramic shards at her feet and lowered her face, "Seems I’m truly old now, and no one takes me seriously anymore!"
Old Mrs. Valentine headed upstairs, Jean Taylor hurried to support her.
Old Mrs. Valentine pushed her away, going upstairs by herself.
Melinda Shelby saw Winston Valentine still protecting Vera Yves and completely cooled her face, "Useless thing!"
She got up and left.
Winston Valentine wanted to take Vera Yves upstairs, but Stella Valentine was so angry she ground her teeth. Was her slap in vain?
"Miles Monroe is back, having support changes everything for some people, huh!" Stella Valentine loudly said on purpose, "Third Brother, you better watch out. It’s cold, who knows when someone might put a hat on you!"
Winston Valentine glanced at her, "If you want both sides of your face symmetrical, I don’t mind helping you!"
Stella Valentine hurriedly covered her face, looking at him incredulously, "Third Brother!"
Back in the room, Winston Valentine purposely checked Vera Yves’ cheek, seeing she wasn’t hurt, he was finally relieved.
Vera Yves felt a bit uncomfortable being watched by him, "I’m going to check on Grandma."
Winston Valentine blocked her path, "You recorded at the hospital."
Vera Yves calmly looked at him, "So what if I did?"
"Delete the recording."
No wonder he rushed back so anxiously; he was afraid she would give the recording to Grandma.
Cecilia Vaughn’s confidence came from him giving her courage.
For a moment earlier, she actually thought he returned specifically to protect her.
Vera Yves looked at him, asking word by word, "What if I don’t?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"If you delete the recording, I can allocate Valentine Group’s projects to The Yves Family, solving all the current problems it’s facing."
Vera Yves thought of Hannah Hayes’ words and smiled self-deprecatingly.
She put down her dignity and tried every way to please him but couldn’t get projects; yet, because of Cecilia Vaughn, he could so easily give them to The Yves Family?
Vera Yves sneered, "What, is The Yves Family qualified now?"
Winston Valentine saw her icy demeanor and involuntarily lowered his voice, "In the future, I will give you everything Mrs. Valentine is supposed to have."
But in these three years, she had enough of being Mrs. Valentine!
Before her tears fell, Vera Yves turned, sarcastically saying, "I won’t give the recording to Grandma, but I won’t delete it either. In this vast Valentine family, I need something to protect myself."
After saying this, Vera Yves left the room.
Winston Valentine looked at her back, his handsome face carrying a hint of weariness.
Vera Yves went to Old Mrs. Valentine’s room; the old woman, angry from Melinda Shelby, lay on the bed. Seeing Vera Yves come in, she held her hand, apologetically saying, "Vera, Grandma let you be wronged."
Vera Yves smiled at her, "Grandma, I haven’t been wronged."
Old Mrs. Valentine tenderly touched her hair, "Your mother-in-law almost doesn’t care about me anymore. Usually away from Grandma’s sight, she surely gives you a hard time often."
Vera Yves shook her head, "No, Grandma, don’t overthink."
Vera Yves accompanied Old Mrs. Valentine, chatting a bit and lulling her to sleep before going downstairs.
Winston Valentine waited for her downstairs.
Vera Yves didn’t want to bother with him and walked straight out.
She sat in the driver’s seat while Winston Valentine opened the passenger door and sat directly inside.
"I’m going back to the clinic; it should be out of your way."
"I’ll wait for you at the clinic to return to the villa together." Winston Valentine purposely moved his bandaged arm closer to her, "I can’t drive like this."
Even when his arm was fine, she rarely saw him driving.
Vera Yves ignored him, starting the car herself.
Along the way, Winston Valentine leaned back, closed his eyes to rest, while Vera Yves focused on driving.
The phone rang, and Vera Yves glanced at the caller ID, it was Seth Quinn.
She answered the call.
"Vera, didn’t we say we’d get together when Miles came back? Do you have time tonight?"
Vera Yves remembered she’d asked Seth Quinn for help several times before, feeling it’d be improper to refuse, "I do; send me the location, and I’ll be there shortly."
"Alright, see you there."
After hanging up, Vera Yves parked the car on the roadside, looked at the man beside her, "Get out."
"I happen to be hungry too." Winston Valentine seemed oblivious to her disdain for him, "I don’t think Counselor Monroe would mind an extra pair of chopsticks."
"I mind!" Vera Yves said coldly.
"Either come back to the villa with me or I’ll go with you to the gathering; you choose."
"Winston Valentine!"
Seeing the man who had no intention of getting out, Vera Yves thought of leaving the car, but her wrist was grabbed.
"If you get out, I don’t mind catching up with Miles Monroe one-on-one."
Vera Yves hadn’t expected him to be so shameless.
Seth Quinn chose a restaurant called The Summit Restaurant, one Vera Yves wasn’t unfamiliar with.
When Vera Yves arrived, Seth Quinn and Miles Monroe were waiting for her at the restaurant entrance.
Seeing Vera Yves, Seth Quinn immediately smiled, "Your brother Miles said you used to love the food here, so I specifically chose this place."
Vera Yves politely smiled without speaking, and Winston Valentine, who followed her, already moved boldly to wrap an arm around her waist, with his gaze fixed on Miles Monroe, disdainfully whispering in Vera Yves’ ear, "So your taste was this low before."
