Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 200: Just Catching an Affair
Winston Valentine had previously been sulking with Vera Yves, worried that he’d soften upon seeing her, so he hadn’t watched the show during his business trip.
Now, upon watching it, he saw her wearing that beautiful and sexy qipao, exchanging glances with Noah Hayes, and his expression turned gloomy.
"This Noah Hayes is quite handsome," Hannah Hayes remarked, "Previously, your dad visited him for a headache. He’s really nice, and I heard he’s still single."
Hannah Hayes didn’t say the latter half out loud, but when Vera first got divorced, one of her card-playing friends had considered introducing Noah to Vera.
Winston glanced at the man on the TV screen and sneered, "A man who’s thirty-five and still single—definitely not normal."
"Is he thirty-five already? You can’t really tell." Hannah noted Winston’s obvious displeasure and added with a teasing smile, "Actually, older men are more caring."
Winston maintained a calm expression, "Indeed, three years older is just right, any more and it’s hard to say."
Hannah gave him a disdainful look, thinking how he always manages to praise himself.
Vera curiously asked, "How do you know he’s thirty-five?"
Winston leaned closer to her, "Didn’t he mention it during your introductions in the first episode?"
In any case, this man just didn’t plan to admit he knew Noah.
A hand suddenly appeared on her waist, and Winston whispered in her ear, "You seemed quite happy while filming the show."
Vera patted his hand, reminding him of the occasion, "When you’re doing something you love, aren’t you happy?"
"Do you enjoy making eye contact with him?"
"That was just the editing by the production team. While filming, we rarely interacted. Because of that slap, Noah and I have zero communication off the stage, and on stage, we don’t even look at each other unless necessary."
"Didn’t you say before that you wanted him to treat my illness? Why did you suddenly drop the idea?"
"You dare ask? Isn’t it more convenient for you to find him than for me?"
Seeing her genuinely upset, Winston pinched her cheek, "Does it bother you? If it doesn’t, I think it’s quite alright as it is."
"It’s your hand, if it doesn’t bother you, why should it bother me?"
Hannah, noticing how they were getting closer, cleared her throat in disdain, "Vera, add some water." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Vera shook off Winston’s hand and got up to pour more water.
After watching the whole episode, Vera noticed that the production team had intentionally edited several shots of her and Noah exchanging glances, clearly trying to use them as an attractive pair to draw attention.
Under her Weibo post, there were suddenly many photos of her and Noah together, obviously Photoshopped.
The show’s ratings had increased significantly compared to before, but it shouldn’t have such a big impact, leading Vera to suspect that the production team had hired internet trolls.
The next morning, Vera specifically called the show’s producer, hoping they wouldn’t engage in such behavior in the future.
The producer discreetly responded, "Miss Yves, this editing was mainly to increase the show’s ratings and draw more attention to our program and the field of traditional Chinese medicine. Moreover..."
"Moreover what?"
"Moreover, Mr. Hayes reviewed these videos before airing, and we broadcasted them with his consent."
Vera massaged her temples, "It’s a matter involving two people, why is his permission alone sufficient?"
"Well... his hospital is the show’s main sponsor."
"Give me his phone number."
"I have to ask Mr. Hayes first."
After hanging up, Vera waited a while and then received a message from the producer.
The other party subtly informed her that they didn’t have Noah’s contact information. If she wanted to meet him, she could visit his hospital, attaching his schedule.
The third episode was soon to air.
Although Vera had clearly expressed her views to the show’s producer, she wasn’t confident they’d comply, especially since the sponsor calls the shots.
Vera easily found Noah’s business card, but it only had his assistant’s phone number.
Vera called Linda Young, who knew quite a few reporters, and quickly gathered a lot of information on Noah.
"What single status, that’s all just an image," Linda scoffed, "Since his rise, he’s dated several actresses; he’s quite a figure in the entertainment circle."
"He’s currently involved with a C-list celebrity, and unsurprisingly, he might bring her to a bar opening tonight. I received an invitation too, why don’t we go and relax, maybe we’ll run into him."
Evening came.
Vera and Linda arrived at the bar a little after seven. The bar was quite large, with many celebrities performing.
A popular girl group was on stage, dressed in miniskirts, performing a sexy, fiery dance, with the crowd below cheering loudly, creating a heated atmosphere.
Linda clicked her camera repeatedly.
Vera, on the other hand, searched the crowd for Noah’s figure, but the place was packed, making it impossible to spot him.
One performance followed another, with the crowd growing larger, and Vera ended up having two drinks.
Winston had already called her twice via video, but with the noise, she didn’t answer and instead messaged him.
Time was approaching eleven.
Linda was dancing along with the stage’s rhythm. Vera tapped her arm, said something, and headed to the restroom.
Returning to the hall, Vera saw Jasper Hughes approaching with two bodyguards, looking furious.
Jasper and the bodyguards stopped at a private room door. He took a deep breath and then kicked the door open.
Screams erupted from inside the room.
"You bitch! I knew you were seeing someone behind my back!" Jasper’s voice roared from the room.
Vera snapped out of it and quickly called Winston, urging him to come over, then hurriedly moved toward the scene.
"Smack!" A loud slap echoed.
"Let me go!" Chelsea Valentine’s voice was piercingly sharp, "Get them out of here!"
Jasper shouted angrily, "You do something so shameful, and you’re afraid of people seeing?"
At the door, Vera saw Chelsea curling up on the sofa, clothes disheveled, with only a man’s coat covering her. Jasper was violently tugging at her clothes.
The clothes were slipping off, and someone suddenly intervened, "There’s no need to make such an ugly scene just for catching an affair."
Vera was somewhat surprised; it was Noah, wearing a dark blue shirt and dress pants, with a couple of shirt buttons undone, yet looking completely unfazed.
"You dare speak, you adulterer?" Jasper seethed with rage, "Hold him down, beat him to a pulp! If he dies, it’s on me!"
Saying this, Jasper grabbed a handful of Chelsea’s hair, trying to drag her off the sofa.
Chelsea was in visible pain, struggling hard, but the difference in strength was too great; she was soon dragged to the ground.
The two bodyguards held Noah down, while Jasper lifted his foot and viciously kicked at him.
