Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 186: How Can You Be So Overbearing?
Clothes fell one by one.
In the steamy bathroom, Vera Yves blushed, wanting to escape but couldn’t, forced to follow her body’s instincts, enduring the man’s long-lost passion.
...
The next morning.
Sore all over, Vera didn’t even want to move.
Seeing the refreshed man beside her, she wanted to kick him off the bed.
Winston Valentine smiled and pinched her cheek, "Get up and have something to eat when you wake up."
Vera turned her head away, avoiding his hand.
Winston leaned in and kissed her lips, "If you’re really tired, just sleep a little longer."
Vera pulled the blanket over her head, refusing to communicate with him any further.
The doorbell rang, and Winston went downstairs.
Vera, although exhausted, couldn’t sleep. After resting for a while, she got up, washed, changed her clothes, and went downstairs.
Chelsea Valentine sat in the living room, surprised to see Vera.
Vera was equally surprised to see Chelsea, as there were several bruises on Chelsea’s face, looking rather alarming.
Chelsea looked at Winston and smiled, "So you really got back together with Vera?"
Hearing this, Winston’s tense expression relaxed a little. He walked over to Vera, "Go eat something in the dining room first, and I’ll take you back later."
Vera nodded, greeted Chelsea, and then went into the dining room.
Winston took Chelsea upstairs.
After breakfast, Vera received a call from Hannah Hayes, "Did you terminate your contract with that show crew?"
"Mom, I can make my own decisions."
"You’re all driving me mad!" Hannah got more and more upset, "What’s so great about a lousy show? Do you really want to be a star?"
Vera sighed, "I don’t."
"Vera, I know Miles backing out of the engagement was hard on you, but you don’t need to lower your worth by competing with someone like Jane Shea, understand?"
Vera rubbed her temples, "I don’t intend to compete with her."
Hannah clearly didn’t believe it, "Then why must you appear on a TV show?"
"It’s not something I can explain in a few words."
"Then say more."
"It’s not about competing with anyone; I’m just doing what I want to do."
Hannah was silent for a moment before saying, "Have you thought about it? What if you get remarried to Winston, will The Valentine Family let you be in the public eye?"
Vera tightened her grip on the phone, "I told you, I won’t remarry him. I have something to do, hanging up."
Vera stood up, just to see the man standing at the dining room door.
Chelsea stood beside him, waving her hand, "Vera, I’m leaving first."
Vera nodded, "Goodbye, sister."
After Chelsea left, Winston took her hand, "I’ll take you back in a while and help you move your things over."
"I don’t plan on moving in."
The atmosphere seemed to freeze instantly.
Winston looked down at her, "Do you plan to keep letting me spend nights alone?"
"I have to go to the TV station for a recording, and I need to organize some things at the clinic. This place is far from the clinic, it’s inconvenient." Vera met his resentful eyes, "This is not negotiable."
After a long pause, Winston pinched her cheek, sighing silently, "How can you be so domineering?"
Vera winced from the pain, slapped his hand away, clearly, he’s the domineering one!
Vera received a message from Tristan Valentine, instead of going back to The Yves Family home, she asked Winston to take her to the Hillside Villa.
Inside the villa, Vera went straight to the second floor. Cleo Sutton leaned against the bed and smiled weakly at Vera, "Dr. Yves, you’re here."
Vera sensed something was wrong, moved to the bedside, "Are you not feeling well?"
Cleo coughed a few times before speaking, "Rhea is in prison now, right?"
Vera didn’t know how to reply for a moment.
"I want to see her, could you talk to Tristan for me? Tell him my health is fine, and I can see her." Cleo held Vera’s hand, "I’ve already found out she isn’t my daughter."
Vera looked at her in surprise, "Then why do you still want to see her?"
Cleo coughed a few more times, "Regardless of what she did, she was there for me well over the past few months, and I want to thank her in person."
Vera thought of Rae Rhodes; she probably wouldn’t care about Cleo’s gratitude, might even say something harsh.
"Cooperate with my treatment, and see her when you’re in better shape."
"Dr. Yves, my health isn’t going to improve, is it?" Cleo looked out the window, "I wonder if I’ll ever see my daughter in this life, what she looks like, whether she’s happy or not..."
Vera squeezed her hand, "You have to have faith. As long as you cooperate with my treatment, you’ll definitely see the day when Mr. Valentine finds your daughter."
"Maybe she doesn’t want to be found by me," Cleo smiled, "Besides, I’ve burdened Tristan for too long."
Vera administered the treatment, waiting for her to fall asleep before going downstairs.
Tristan Valentine was sitting in the living room, and upon seeing Vera come down, he asked worriedly, "How is she?"
"Her mental state isn’t good," Vera said seriously, "Learning that Rae isn’t her daughter was a huge blow to her. For patients like her, their mood greatly affects treatment outcomes."
Tristan looked dejected, "If our wedding can’t take place as scheduled..."
"That would be quite a blow to her too. This wedding, you’ve both been looking forward to it for many years, haven’t you?"
Leaving the Hillside Villa, Vera returned to The Yves Family home and received a call from a TV show’s wardrobe sponsor. They wanted to tailor a few outfits for Vera to promote their brand.
Vera refused outright.
In the afternoon, Linda Young invited Vera to go shopping with her to pick an outfit for Zeke Sterling’s wedding.
"Isn’t it enough to send a red envelope? Why go and make things difficult for yourself?"
Linda winced at the thought of the red envelope, "Such a big one. I can’t rest easy unless I hand it over myself."
"Why do I feel like you’re not over him yet?"
"After so many years, any feelings have turned to dust," Linda complained, holding Vera’s arm, "Unlike you, rekindling things with that jerk Winston."
"He actually..."
"Vera Yves, really? You’ve only been back together for a few days and you’re already defending him?" Linda looked at her with a wary expression, "Don’t tell me you plan to remarry that jerk!"
Vera smiled helplessly, "No."
Linda looked relieved, "Good thing you’re not losing your mind."
Linda picked a dress and went into the fitting room. Vera had just sat down on a chair when she received a call from Hannah Hayes, mentioning reporters interviewed Mia Tate’s family and wrote an article about Mark Yves, portraying him as a playboy who toys with innocent girls’ feelings.
Returning home, Vera found Harry Yves there too.
Netizens had already connected the dots, discovering that Mark was the heir of The Yves Group, and started calling for a boycott of The Yves Group.
Harry Yves declared firmly, "Go to the hospital, find Mia, and apologize properly before this escalates further. Marry her once she’s out of the hospital."
Mark Yves jumped up from the sofa, "Dad, are you crazy!"
