Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 182: I’m Here
The gossip-loving netizens were thrilled because the repost of Vera Yves’ Weibo was from Sterling Law Firm, the most authoritative in Imperia, and the boss, Justin Ford, was the best celebrity lawyer there.
Originally, Jane Shea’s fans were happily commenting under Vera’s Weibo but now were deleting their comments one after another.
Justin Ford commented below, "All comments have been screenshotted, so deleting them is useless."
Vera remembered that this was the lawyer Winston Valentine had hired during their divorce.
Winston took Vera’s phone, "Are you hungry? Let me take you out to eat."
"Did you find the lawyer for me?"
She had just thought to hire a lawyer, and he had already found someone for her?
"Who else but me?" Winston pinched her cheek, "I made a reservation at a restaurant, let’s go eat and get some fresh air."
Vera indeed did not want to stay in the ward any longer, so she left with him, leaving Walter Lowell to take care of Mark Yves.
Winston had reserved a table at a members-only Western restaurant.
Vera was initially worried that people would continue to harass her with phone calls, but surprisingly, her phone remained quiet.
However, her appetite wasn’t great, and she didn’t eat much.
Halfway through the meal, someone came over to greet them, and Vera saw Jane Shea, somewhat surprised. Beside her stood a man with an elegant demeanor, about thirty-something, and Jane was lightly holding his arm.
"President Valentine, we’ve tried to meet up before, but you were always busy. Turns out you had a delightful company," the man said with a smile, his gaze settling on Vera. "This must be Miss Yves?"
Winston wasn’t very warm, introducing Vera to the man as Jane Shea’s former boss, Jensen Sawyer.
Vera politely greeted Jensen Sawyer.
Jane Shea opened her mouth apologetically, "Miss Yves, I’m truly sorry for what’s on the internet. I apologize on behalf of my fans."
Winston glanced at Jane with indifference, "Miss Shea, aren’t there more things you need to apologize for?"
Jane’s expression shifted, and Jensen Sawyer, seeing the unpleasant atmosphere, feared offending Winston because Winston was known for his arrogant behavior and might not give him face.
Jensen patted Jane’s hand, "Alright, let’s go, we shouldn’t keep Director Lewis waiting too long."
Vera’s phone rang; it was Young Johnson. She walked to a corner to answer.
"Miss Yves, after internal discussion, we feel your demeanor doesn’t match our show, so we want to... terminate the contract with you."
Vera clutched her phone tightly. Not a match? What kind of ridiculous reason was that?
"If you’re terminating unilaterally, you owe me ten times the breach penalty as per the contract."
"Miss Yves, the contract stated guests can’t have negative scandals during filming, and now with rumors of you being a mistress, the show is worried about future impacts."
Jane Shea’s fans, unable to continue fanning flames under Vera’s Weibo, turned their ire on the show, saying it invited a person with questionable personal life as a guest and threatened to boycott.
The show, under pressure, had to drop Vera.
"If you’re terminating, pay the breach penalty as per the contract." Vera gripped her phone, "Don’t ascribe unfounded sins to me."
Vera cut the call, turned to leave, only to see Jane Shea approaching.
"Congratulations, you’ve hooked up with Winston Valentine again," Jane smiled at her, "You should thank me."
Vera didn’t want to engage with her.
Jane blocked her path, "So quick to be with someone else, your feelings for Miles Monroe mustn’t have been that deep."
Vera calmly looked at her, "What exactly do you want to say?"
"Here’s a piece of advice," Jane smiled, "A man like Winston Valentine, you can’t control. Be wary of being sold out by him while counting the cash for him."
"My personal life is none of your concern."
Jane looked at her nonchalantly, "You and Miles Monroe are no longer related, so I have no reason to offend Winston for you. I’m not the mastermind behind the online issues."
At most, she just didn’t restrain her fans, fanning the flames.
Watching the high-and-mighty princess being compared to her and belittled to worthlessness, Jane’s vanity was greatly satisfied.
However, Vera was puzzled. If not Jane Shea, then who?
Winston also took a call and found that the trending topics related to Vera were already losing heat and being removed, but new ones were soon emerging. Clearly, someone was deliberately orchestrating it.
Vera’s privacy was being revealed bit by bit.
After the meal, the two left the restaurant, and light snow began to fall outside. Vera extended her hand, letting the snowflakes fall into her palm and quickly melt. It was sleet; winter had completely left.
Winston placed his hand over her palm and interlocked his fingers with hers, "It’s still early, let’s walk a bit."
The driver had already handed over an umbrella.
The large black umbrella covered both of their heads, and Winston inclined it towards her, enveloping her entirely underneath.
The snow couldn’t accumulate, and the ground was muddy.
Vera recalled Noah Hayes’ words and conveyed them to Winston, who squeezed her hand, "Even if it can’t be cured, I already have you."
"I think you should give Noah a try, at least the outcome would be better than now."
Winston stopped and looked at her, "I already have the best private doctor in the world."
Vera felt she was speaking to a brick wall, and just as she was about to respond, the man’s lips sealed hers. Vera wanted to push him away, but Winston held her waist, "Focus."
Back at the hospital, inside the elevator, Vera recollected Noah’s smile, eyeing Winston with suspicion, "Do you know Noah from before?"
Winston feigned to kiss her again, "I don’t want to hear another man’s name from your lips tonight."
Vera covered her mouth, warning him with her eyes. Winston chuckled, rubbing the top of her head.
"Ding!"
The elevator doors opened, and Vera tried to knock his hand away but was instead held naturally by Winston, and they exited the elevator together.
They hadn’t walked a few steps when suddenly a few people rushed over, someone with a camera pointing it at Vera.
"Miss Vera, do you know Jane Shea from before?"
"Are you intentionally wearing the same clothes as hers?"
"Did you ever intervene in Jane Shea and her boyfriend’s relationship?"
"Did you have a previous marriage and during that time continued to have contact with Jane’s boyfriend?"
Vera wanted to walk away, but her feet felt rooted, her mouth wouldn’t open to refute them, as if she was back on that day, left at the wedding, surrounded by chaos with no one to help her.
Winston directly embraced Vera back into the elevator, seeing her pale face, he patted her cheek, "Vera, don’t be afraid, I’m here."
