To His Hell and Back-Chapter 405: A Born Villain-I
That’s right before she left with Alice, didn’t Alice believe wholeheartedly that she had loved Morpheus enough to want and fix him? To accept him for the sinful man he is and will work with him and help him to change?
What is this...
A crawling feeling trembled underneath Ariel’s skin. Her heart thump in the pit of her stomach, sinking down to create an uncomfortable unease that made her subconsciously went to pat her own chest. Her expression morphed to disgust as she stared to the ground.
Fix? Sinful? Accept?
"No one in this world is perfect that I know," Ariel gritted her teeth as she lifted her eyes again to Morpheus and could see how his body faltered backward upon seeing her gaze. Never had she been so hateful and her expression had showed it so clearly.
He wanted her to go back... go back to the castle of sorcerers not to help those sorcerers, not because they wishes her presence but for him. For the man who wishes to use her own younger sister to his advantage and perhaps kill Jed in the process. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
How dare he comes here? Step in front of her and tell her that he would allow her to fix him?
There was nothing to fix. Nothing to fix from a man who is always so hateful and perhaps die without ever feeling peace.
"But if you ask me to follow you to change you and fix your ways, you are utterly deep in your dreams because that would never happen. Even if I do follow you Morpheus, wouldn’t you still harm Bella for the sake of your goals? Even if I try to change you and advise you to do the right thing, wouldn’t you spare me both your ears and heart to change yourself? Its true that a lost person need a signpost to find the right path but for that to work their heart have to be set on finding the right path but you?"
Ariel’s frown deepened, "You are someone who wish other would save you but you won’t save yourself. There is nothing in you for others to pity, Morpheus. You have never pitied someone, something in your heart is with a hole that’s why no matter how much you try to fill your heart, you will never be happy."
For a moment it seemed as though Morpheus hadn’t been able to hear Ariel’s words clearly as he stood still, his expression frozen while his fingers stiffen on the side of his hips. Then he began to clench his fingers into a tight fist, anger taking place on his once peaceful expression.
He really did not expect her to refuse him.
Ariel could see that clearly by how his expression seemed so hurt, so offended, unbelievably upset as this hadn’t been the way he wanted the conversation to go.
"No. But you loved me-"
"I pitied you!" Ariel pressed her tone as she pulled her hands to her face, "So miserable and lonely, you seem to be betrayed by so many people but now I realized it wasn’t me who was wrong for feeling pity to you but you who seem to be able to only feel pity to yourself but never others. So many lives you have taken, so many deaths had occurred but because they’re vampire, it’s allowed? How is that possible?"
Morpheus clenched his jaw, his true color showing as he hated not being able to have her under his control, "This land never once belonged to them!"
"This land never belonged to you either. You aren’t allowed to control the people who lives here and kill them as you wish. What is it that you hated? Because if you hated losing the people you care about then you would have stopped Alice from taking sorcerers lives inside that castle. You’re despicable. If you keep wishing for your loved one to sacrifice their life just for you, one day you will be alone. Or perhaps you already are."
Morpheus pointed his finger forward, flexing his fist on the other hand, "You will regret this."
"I won’t." Ariel raised her hand and muttered a magic but before it could finish fog dispersed through the laundries she had hung and almost immediately Morpheus’s body disappeared and she could once more hear the sounds of servants and birds in the land.
"Miss Ariel," said one of the maid who was surprised upon seeing her standing so still in a daze, "Is anything wrong?"
Ariel still stared at the spot she had seen from where Morpheus was standing earlier. Then she closed her green eyes, shaking her head, "It was a ghost."
One evening in Arabella’s study room, Noah who had now faced both Atlas, Ariel and Arabella began to tell the story, "Sir Morpheus wasn’t birthed to the world. He is... something that shouldn’t have existed."
"Shouldn’t have existed?" Echoed Ariel who was sitting in the left side of Arabella. "Like a ghost?"
"No," pursing his lips, Noah tried to find the right word and confessed, "Morpheus was an experiment. As you might have seen there are bad witches like Alice and there are also bad sorcerers in this world. Most of sorcerer learn to use magic in pursuit of knowledge or curiosity but there are those who did it for the power it promise, or the authority they think to use in exchange for rank and prestige."
"Morpheus was made by one of those sorcerers?"
"Made? Partly, he is their son and for over twenty years of his age, Morpheus was stuck experimented until one day he had enough and killed both his parents, siblings, and now the other experimented children had became his most loyal follower, fellow sorcerers who always wore black cloak with the white crow pin." Noah continued his explanation. "Lady Circe felt terrible to see what had occurred to him and in sympathy she had decided to take Morpheus into the coven... but she was never aware of Morpheus’s admiration to her would turn into an obsession."
