Chapter 96 - You two go ahead

"...if you feel like you're getting sick, just let me know, okay?" Kang-woo pressed his lips on his forehead and then smiled at him.

Yun-tae's heart yet again skipped a beat and caused him to flush even harder. At this rate, he was going to get a heart attack.

Wasn't he the least bit worried that his mother would catch him in the act? It felt like he was cautious but it wasn't enough.

It was still risky trying to pull that stunt in his house while trying to act affectionate.

Was this why his heart was still beating for him?

He was so warm and affectionate for a guy who was in love with someone else.

'Kang-woo is... Really doing a great job at pretending. If I hadn't known about his true feelings, I might've been delusional that he would eventually come to love me.'

"Alright, I already informed your mom so we can get going now." Chin-hwa said, emerging from the backdoor.

"Where... Where are we going?" Yun-tae asked, managing to calm his expression.

"We're going to an aquarium."

"Huh?"

Going to an aquarium in the middle of winter... Who would've thought Chin-hwa would come up with this idea?

It was an indoor aquarium so that also had an outdoor dolphin show.

"I got the tickets a while back," Chin-hwa said, showing the tickets he had in his pocket. "It didn't have a set date, so I thought, why not use it now?"

"That's great and all but how many tickets do you have exactly?" Yun-tae asked and Chin-hwa blinked, recalling that they were three.

"Oh, don't worry about it. The number isn't correct but I'm sure we can get an extra ticket once we get there."

Though he said that, when they did get there, there were no more tickets available. All tickets sold were always preordered before that day.

"Hah, now what?" Yun-tae asked.

Kang-woo looked at Chin-hwa, his thoughts roaming to the possibility that Chin-hwa would suddenly give this opportunity to Yun-tae, urging them both to go watch the fishes while he stayed outside.

So, before that happened, he decided to speak first.

"Why don't--"

"You two go ahead." Yun-Tae cut into his words, completely interrupting him.

"Huh?" Chin-hwa looked at him, surprised. "What do you mean? If anyone should go it should be you and Kang-woo." He said. "You two are dating, after all. I... I wouldn't want to rain in your parade."

Yun-tae suddenly grabbed his hand and said,

"No one's raining in anyone's parade," He said. "You're the owner of the tickets, so you should get to see the fish. And..." He looked up at Kang-woo. "...I'm certain Kang-woo would want to watch the fishes as well. I mean, you two must've done it a lot in the past, right? So you're a fan." He smiled.

Chin-hwa went silent. What Yun-tae was trying to say was that he wanted him and Kang-woo to go watch the fish without him. But why? Didn't he... Didn't he like Kang-woo? This was an opportunity for them to bond, so why?

Yun-tae kept his eyes on Kang-woo whose gaze was now fixed on Chin-hwa. He could see it, that same look of longing that he barely understood in the past. He could see it now and he knew exactly what it was.

That soft blush on his face, that sparkle in his eyes... And that feeling that if he was given a choice, he would take Chin-hwa's side no matter what because... He loved Chin-hwa.

Knowing this made him emotional. His heart hurt and he would very much like to get out of their hair before he gave in to it and sobbed.

"Alright, alright, you guys should go have fun." He said, pushing Chin-hwa's from behind.

"Wait, hold on. I haven't agreed to it yet." Chin-hwa said and stood his ground, turning to Yun-tae. "And I can't just leave you out here like this. Instead of going to watch the fish and dolphins without you, why don't we just find something else that we can do together?"

"Oh no, that won't do." Yun-tae waved it off. "And also... I got a call." He said, raising his phone with a nervous smile. "Normally, I don't work on weekends, and I only get my shifts on weekdays, but my workmate just called and asked if I could take her evening shift since she's not feeling too good. I agreed but planned to spend a little time with you guys. But since we're short on a ticket, I'll just leave and prepare since it's almost time for her shift."

"You... Work? Why?" Chin-hwa asked and then realized that might've come out rudely so he covered his mouth. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that."

"Oh, I know what you meant, and believe me, I don't mind." Yun-tae said. "You don't know, but I don't have anyone taking care of me, so I have a few part-time jobs, but it's nothing too tedious." He sighed. "You can tell I don't overwork myself since you never noticed that I work up until now."

"Do the others know?" Chin-hwa asked but Yun-tae shook his head and said,

"Just Beom-Chim. He saw me one day and I explained it to him. The others don't know about it." He said and Chin-hwa felt he had been a bit inconsiderate. "Alright, so let's not ruin the mood. You two go have fun, okay?"

Still, Chin-hwa still felt rather uncomfortable and conflicted.

The fact that he didn't even try to ask or know... Wait, in the first place, he wasn't one to ask stuff about the lives of his friends. That's how he had been. Quiet, and inclined.

So, this time, he decided to ask,

"Then, can I ask? Where do you work?"
