Chapter 170: It was quite the evening

The venue where they were meant to have the Christmas party ended up a bust, and the only way to adjust the venue to the president’s liking and convenience was if it was in a grander place.

And what other grander place could a party be hosted besides a yacht that was as big as a cruise ship?

So, last-minute invites were sent to everyone, and luckily, they were able to make it.

The family arrived at the yacht that afternoon in other to get ready before the guests started arriving.

The theme was white, so they were all dressed in white tuxes, including Si-woo. There was no way anyone was going to force her into a dress.

Looking manly fitted her way better and she was hot.

"Unnie, you’re so handsome and cool," Seoung-bo and Dong-cha were relentless in their praises and admiration.

They arrived shortly after Chin-hwa and the rest, and they were flabbergasted when they came down from the car Baek-Hyun had sent to pick them up to see that it was a freaking yacht.

They weren’t even dressed properly and felt ashamed but luckily, there was a free wardrobe they could pick any white suit from and change into it before the party began.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime cruise, so of course, they wouldn’t miss it.

"You kids flatter me too much," Si-woo said, despite shoving her fingers through her hair and brushing down her long blonde locks.

Their eyes sparkled in more admiration and there was no way Si-woo wasn’t enjoying their gaze. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"You look great, Yun-tae," Beom-Chim said with a thumbs up and Yun-tae blushed.

"Thank you," he said, weak to compliments. "You look good too, Beom."

"Thanks," he said, adjusting his glasses and then his bow tie. "I didn’t think I’d find anything that would fit me but surprisingly, it did."

"Alright, shall we get ready to receive the guests?" Hae-won asked, approaching and then clapping his hands. "Let the Christmas party commence."

Si-woo, He-Nari, and Deok-ryu were in charge of greeting the guests who entered the event hall in the yacht while Woo-bin and Baek-Hyun kept them company as they entered, exchanging small talks and making sure they were okay with what they found.

It was quite the evening.

Chin-hwa and Kang-woo stayed with their friends so things wouldn’t get awkward for them. Since this was an event with almost all the high-ranking dignitaries present, they needed to avoid making a mistake.

It was a bit suffocating and pressuring at first, but as Kang-woo and Chin-hwa engaged them with light talks, pointing out who the people were as they walked in, they felt less concerned.

"Wow, that’s amazing. To think you know all these people by their names and what they do." Beom-Chim said, perking up his glasses. "When did you get time to memorize them?"

"Well, it was a long time ago, so I won’t know anyone who recently created their businesses because I’ve not been up to date." Chin-hwa answered, smiling awkwardly as the compliments kept coming.

The night seemed long and bright and Chin-hwa spent his time calming himself with his friends before it was time for his performance.

"Oh right, I heard we get to sleep in the cabins tonight, is that true?" Seoung-bo asked, her eyes glinting with excitement.

"Yes, you can’t exactly go home tonight." Chin-hwa said. "But there are some people who leave after simply making small talk. They’re probably scared of sleeping on water because once the party starts completely, the yacht will leave the coast and be on sea for the entire night."

"Wow, that’s so cool. I wouldn’t miss this opportunity for anything," Dong-cha chorused, steam huffing out of her nose like a steam train and they laughed.

"Um, is it just me or..." Beom tilted his head and then took off his glasses to clean it, making sure he was seeing well.

"What is it, Beom?" Yun-tae asked.

"I feel like I just saw the president," Beom said and Chin-hwa flinched. "Hold on, I think I might’ve seen wrong." He put his glasses back on but when he looked again, it was the same.

"Hah, he’s here already." Chin-hwa exclaimed in exhaustion, "I wished he wouldn’t make it but he did."

"Is this real, Hwa?" Dong-cha asked. "Is that really the president?"

"Shhh," Yun-tae tried to lower their voices.

No good would come from being overheard and all eyes on them.

"Yes, it’s true. That’s the president." Kang-woo answered while massaging Head tried shoulders. "His dad invited him."

"Whoa, Hwa, you’re on a whole different level." Dong-cha said, wearing her shades as she stared at the shining halo around Chin-hwa’s head. "You’re so shining too."

"Stop that, it’s embarrassing," he said and they laughed. "Ugh, I can’t believe I have to perform in front of the president."

"What? Perform?" They looked at him strangely and then they all looked towards the white piano at the center of the hall.

"Wa, you’re performing in front of these many people?" Seoung-bo asked as she grabbed his shoulders in fright. "Are you going to be okay?"

"Well, no. But I can just pretend they’re a bunch of potato heads."

"Potato...pft," they laughed once more. "What about the president?"

"Hm," Chin-hwa gave it a thought and then snapped his fingers. "He’s gonna be a bigger potato head."

His words were very rude but even funnier since he was saying it to his friends and no one else. He smiled, displaying his teeth in glee.

"That way, I won’t get nervous."

"Go get ’em, then."

Kang-woo laughed softly but then he started feeling hot. He thought it might’ve been the suit since he hadn’t worn one in a while but his throat started getting dry as well.

"I need a drink," he said and waved his hand majestically for one of the waiters to bring him a drink.

He took one, and the others took one, aside from Chin-hwa, who didn’t want to get delusional so early in the day even though the champagne was quite alcohol friendly.

Kang-woo drank the champagne in one gulp, but his throat still felt dry, as if he had run a marathon in a hot desert.

’What’s wrong with me?’ he wondered and then raised his head to find Chin-hwa looking at him concerned.

"Are you okay?"
