Time Travel: The Noble Family-Chapter 1405 - 577: Divorce (Part 2)
Divorce (Part 2)
Divorcing wasn’t that easy. Lin Qinghan stopped making a fuss, but she had one request, she wanted to take Wanting with her.
Tingzheng naturally wouldn’t agree.
Lin Qinghan was in tears and asked, "If you remarry in the future, you’re sure to have sons and daughters. My demand to take Wanting isn’t excessive."
Tingzheng let out a sigh, "Have you thought about Wanting’s future?" Not to mention that he wouldn’t let Wanting leave with Madam Lin, even if Madam Lin remarried, she could not take Wanting with her. Even if Madam Lin didn’t remarry and brought Wanting back to the Lin Family, Wanting would be living under someone else’s roof, and this is very bad for the child. He himself had experienced such days of relying on others, and didn’t want his daughter to go through it again.
Lady Lin also didn’t want Lin Qinghan to take Wanting away, not for anything else, but just to think of the child’s future. Following Madam Lin would make things hard for her marriage in the future; staying at the Lian Mansion would be much easier.
Seeing this, Lin Qinghan made a final request, "I want to see Wanting every month in the future." Her daughter couldn’t be with her, but she had to see her daughter and know she was doing well.
Before Tingzheng could speak, Lord Lin said, "Let’s discuss this matter later." Saying that she must see Wanting every month, if Lin Qinghan remarried, how could she see her monthly? Anyone who didn’t know might think she was overly concerned about her ex-husband.
Tingzheng was relieved. Seeing Lin Qinghan like this, he was worried it would affect Wanting. He only had this one child now: "Rest assured, as long as I’m here, Wanting won’t suffer any grievances."
Lin Qinghan inventoried all her dowry, and then said to Tingzheng, "I won’t take the dowry back; I’ll leave it for Wanting’s future marriage. Ah Zheng, I hope you remember your words and treat Wanting well."
Tingzheng was unwilling to take Lin Qinghan’s dowry, "Take your dowry back. Wanting is my daughter, and I will prepare a rich dowry for her in the future."
Lord Lin considered, leaving everything wasn’t appropriate, but taking nothing wasn’t right either. Finally, they agreed that Lin Qinghan would take sixty percent, leaving forty percent for Wanting.
Before leaving, Lin Qinghan went to see Wanting.
Wanting clung to Lin Qinghan, refusing to let her go, and eventually cried herself into a faint. Lin Qinghan left the Lian family with tears in her eyes, taking her dowry with her.
After Lin Qinghan left, looking at the familiar house, Tingzheng felt emptiness in his heart. If he could, he truly didn’t want to reach this point, but he indeed had no strength left to continue.
Lady Yue knew about Tingzheng’s divorce from Lin Qinghan, and hope rekindled in her heart. But before she could savor the joy, Tingzheng sent her to the temple, under the guise of praying for Brother Xin’s blessings, while in truth, Tingzheng didn’t want to see her again.
The next morning, Ah Si, the Chief Steward, came calling.
Yueyao was momentarily taken aback upon hearing about Tingzheng’s divorce from Lin Qinghan, and then calmly said, "I understand." Although unexpected, the matter at least allowed her to breathe a sigh of relief. Yueyao feared that if things continued, the siblings would become strangers.
Ah Si treated Yueyao with great respect, not only because she was the Great Aunt of the Lian family, but more importantly, Yueyao was the mistress of the Earl’s Mansion: "Great Aunt, the Old Master is ill, with a high fever." Ah Si was also hoping to use this opportunity to ease the relations between Yueyao and Tingzheng.
Having lost his only son just days ago, and now divorcing his wife, it wasn’t surprising that Tingzheng fell ill under this double blow.
Seeing Yueyao unmoved, Ah Si cautiously said, "Great Aunt, the Old Master has sent Lady Yue away, and the Eldest Miss is also ill, the whole house is in chaos now."
Even though Yueyao had said she wouldn’t interfere, knowing about Tingzheng’s struggles, she felt uncomfortable, and ultimately couldn’t completely let go.
Yueyao turned to An Zhichen to discuss, "Heyue, do you think I should go over there?" An Zhichen disliked her meddling in her natal family’s affairs. Of course, Yueyao understood; he hadn’t prohibited her involvement before Madam Lin’s drama, it was only after those incidents that he stopped her. An Zhichen acted out of concern for her.
An Zhichen, knowing Yueyao all too well, realized that given Tingzheng’s situation now, she wouldn’t be at ease staying home: "Go over and see. Help if you can, but regarding Tingzheng’s remarriage, unless he requests your assistance, don’t get involved in arranging anything for him. If he has his eye on someone, don’t worry about suitability." An Zhichen’s words also left room, implying that if Tingzheng actively sought Yue Yao’s help for arrangements, it would be a different matter.
