Chapter 1383: Chapter 566: Showdown (Part 2)

Every time Yueyao attempts suicide, it’s as if he dies too. Yet he cannot bear to let go, even if watching Yueyao live like a puppet, he still cannot bear to let go. It wasn’t until Yueyao’s selective memory loss that he forced himself to let go.

Zhou Shu truly feels like fate is tormenting him. Otherwise, why would he encounter Yueyao in both lifetimes, why would he fall madly in love with this woman, and why would he be doomed to suffer the pain of unrequited love in both lifetimes? 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Yueyao also feels like the heavens are tormenting her: "I didn’t want to meet you either." Those years she tried hard to avoid him, but in the end, she couldn’t escape.

Zhou Shu was about to speak when he sensed danger. Years of living on the edge have given him a keen sense of danger, and Zhou Shu trusts his instincts. He leaped away from where he was standing. Just seconds after he moved, three arrows landed where he had stood.

Zhou Shu stood in another spot, surprised at the sudden appearance of the man: "Aren’t you supposed to be in Heavenly Prison?" To see someone from the Heavenly Prison here was bizarre no matter how one looked at it.

Yueyao wasn’t too surprised to see An Zhichen.

An Zhichen shouted toward Yueyao: "Get down quickly!" After speaking, he drew his bow again and shot three arrows at Zhou Shu.

Zhou Shu’s agility needs no explanation, he quickly dodged again. As Zhou Shu stood once more, he looked at An Zhichen and said: "Doing this doesn’t make you a hero. If you have the guts, let’s have a fair duel."

Yueyao remained silent, leaving An Zhichen to decide. After years of marriage, Yueyao knew An Zhichen was a man of pride. If she spoke up to refuse, An Zhichen would certainly think she considered Zhou Shu superior to him as her husband. Of course, if An Zhichen refused on his own, that would be another matter.

An Zhichen didn’t respond, instead, he shot three more arrows at Zhou Shu. But after the arrows landed in the ground again, he put down his bow and said: "Today, you must die." Zhou Shu had tried to take his wife, and although he didn’t succeed, this grievance was deeply unforgivable.

Xiang Wei, having stood beside Yueyao without notice, asked: "Isn’t the Earl in the Heavenly Prison? Why has he suddenly appeared here?"

Yueyao wouldn’t admit her plan at any cost and simply said: "I don’t know either. You can ask him later."

Xiang Wei dared not ask An Zhichen, knowing he had strong opinions about her: "No matter how the Earl got out, as long as he’s safe, that’s fine."

The fight in the center was thrilling, as they exchanged deadly blows. Unfortunately, the two men’s martial skills seemed evenly matched, making it impossible to determine a victor for the time being.

Xiang Wei was surprised: "I didn’t expect Zhou Shu’s martial skills to be this high? An Zhichen, being the Great General of the Northwest, should be among the best, yet Zhou Shu indeed is fighting him evenly."

Yueyao wasn’t surprised: "If he didn’t have martial skills, how could he command a group of subordinates as fierce as wolves and become a bandit?" Pirates are indeed like bandits.

Xiang Wei noticed Yueyao was very calm and couldn’t help but ask: "Aren’t you worried the Earl might be in danger?"

Yueyao simply said: "I trust Heyue." An Zhichen isn’t a young kid trying to show off. If he can’t win, An Zhichen will naturally find a way to deal with it.

Xiang Wei watched as An Zhichen narrowly avoided Zhou Shu’s sword and said: "No, I have to go up and help."

Yueyao stopped Xiang Wei and said: "Don’t interfere." If she was going to help, she should have done so earlier.

A half-hour later, both men were injured. After fighting for so long, An Zhichen realized he wouldn’t be able to defeat Zhou Shu, and Zhou Shu couldn’t defeat him either. Continuing would only lead to mutual destruction.

As a military general, An Zhichen naturally isn’t one to stubbornly cling to personal heroism. He held his sword and shouted: "Men."

As soon as An Zhichen’s words fell, a sound of footsteps quickly rose from below. In the blink of an eye, over twenty soldiers wielding bows appeared. At An Zhichen’s command, all arrows would be aimed at Zhou Shu.

Zhou Shu mocked: "Is this all you can do? Can’t beat me yourself, so you call for help?"

At this point, Yueyao had reached An Zhichen’s side, looking at An Zhichen’s bleeding wounds, feeling both distressed and sorrowful: "Without any medicine for injuries, what should be done?"

An Zhichen scolded Yueyao: "Didn’t I tell you to get down? It’s so dangerous here, what are you doing here?" He was caught up in trying to kill Zhou Shu, only now realizing Yueyao hadn’t listened and was still standing here!

Yueyao wouldn’t argue with An Zhichen, simply saying a few words that silenced him: "I wasn’t reassured." Rather than waiting below, it was better to watch over things herself!

Zhou Shu watched Yueyao’s expression, bewildered again. He remembered Yueyao used to faint at the sight of blood, yet now she was unmoved watching the blood flow.

Yueyao looked at An Zhichen’s wounds, speaking without patience: "Since you could have brought all the soldiers up earlier, why bother fighting him? Are you unsatisfied without enough injuries?"

Seeing Zhou Shu’s unpleasant expression, An Zhichen snorted coldly: "Zhou Shu, if you surrender, you might keep your whole corpse."

Yueyao, however, felt the matter wouldn’t be resolved so quickly. Zhou Shu isn’t someone who fights battles he’s unsure of. But now it’s a man’s game, so she carefully bandaged An Zhichen’s wounds without speaking.

PS: I wanted to write the fight scene as breathtaking, but regrettably, June isn’t skilled at writing fights, so I had to simplify it.
