Chapter 1111: Chapter 479: Lin Qinghan Is Pregnant

Kexin stood upright at the table, writing large characters.

Little Kexin’s face resembles Yueyao, an oval face, an exceedingly graceful facial shape with delicate features. Dressed in soft pink colors and styled in a traditional bun, she is very endearing.

Upon seeing Yueyao approaching, Kexin put down the brush and happily called out, "Mother."

Yueyao embraced Kexin, asking, "How many characters did you learn today?" Kexin is three years old and usually spends her days playing with her three younger brothers. Yueyao feels this is quite a waste of time, remembering she herself started learning calligraphy at three, so she invited a teacher to educate Kexin.

Kexin smiled and shook her head, "Mother, I learned forty new characters today. The teacher assigned ten sheets of calligraphy coursework. I’ve finished six sheets, only four to go."

Yueyao simply wanted Kexin to learn more, not necessarily to become a talented lady, so she asked the teacher to teach Kexin to write large characters for one shichen each day, arranging just enough coursework to not tire Kexin.

Yueyao looked at Kexin’s writing, nodded with a smile in approval, "Much better than last time."

Kexin’s smile was sweet, with a small dimple appearing on her cheek, making her especially adorable. Although Kexin wished Yueyao could spend more time with her, she understood Yueyao’s busyness, saying, "Mother, you should go attend to your matters!" Kexin’s greatest wish right now is to grow up quickly to help her mother with the workload.

Yueyao chuckled softly, "A few moments won’t make a difference."

Yueyao, having achieved some level of mastery in calligraphy, had no trouble guiding Kexin. Yueyao corrected Kexin’s grip on the brush, explaining what to watch for when practicing writing.

Xi Yu tiptoed in, noticing Kexin there and refrained from speaking. Yet, Xi Yu’s expression showed she had something to report.

Kexin looked up at Yueyao and said, "Mother, please go attend to your matters!"

Yueyao smiled, "It’s nothing major, you may leave! I’ll stay here with Kexin, to finish these two sheets of large characters."

Xi Yu, hearing this, tiptoed out again.

Yueyao, seeing Xi Yu’s demeanor, knew it wasn’t anything critical, so she continued watching Kexin practice writing. Yueyao felt somewhat guilty towards Kexin; she had planned to wait until Kexin was older before having another child, but hadn’t anticipated how quickly the second pregnancy arrived. Now, with triplets, she barely had any spare time to care for Kexin.

Kexin finished the calligraphy and, with Yueyao’s approval, happily went to the side room to play with her three brothers.

Yueyao returned to the small sitting room and then asked Xi Yu, "What was the matter earlier?"

Xi Yu, now speaking without restraint, said, "Madam, someone came with a message saying Fourth Young Lady is pregnant again."

Yueyao nodded, "Understood. Xi Yu, unless it concerns matters of life and death, there’s no need to report such things." Lin Qinghan was a competent steward, but when Yueyao left behind many people, knowing Lian family matters became effortless.

Xi Yu knew Yueyao’s dislike towards Lin Qinghan, yet even matters regarding lineage couldn’t sway Madam’s decisions, it was clear that Madam’s aversion to Lin Qinghan was profound.

Yueyao cast a glance at Xi Yu and said, "In the future, unless it’s a taboo matter, there’s no need to hide it from Kexin." Although Kexin is young, children need to grow up eventually. Such matters don’t need to be hidden from her; rather, she should be exposed to outside matters. Yueyao didn’t wish to raise her daughter in the same naive manner she herself was raised.

Xi Yu nodded slightly, "Understood, Madam..."

Xiang Wei returned in the evening from the pastry shop, bringing along the latest pastries from the shop, "Send one to Niu Mansion, keep one, and share the rest among yourselves!" Xiang Wei regularly brings pastries back for everyone, and now is the most welcomed by the maids and old nannies in the courtyard.

Xiang Wei entered the side room, seeing Yueyao with the children, and couldn’t help but express a sentiment, "Madam surely is at ease."

Yueyao put down Brother Ningning and turned to smile, "Why say such things out of the blue? If you feel tired, take a few days’ rest at home. Leave matters of the shop to the Store Manager." Now, Xiang Wei’s shop in the Capital City has earned its name, with booming business.

Xiang Wei laughed and stepped forward, pinched Brother Shengsheng’s cheek, and then lightly tapped Brother Feifei who was crawling with his butt raised, "I’m not tired, just things outside aren’t peaceful."

Yueyao knew what Xiang Wei meant. While the Crown Prince was still present, several Princes were restless, but at least the Crown Prince was the legitimate heir, favored by the Emperor, and those Princes, however restless, were limited in their actions. Now with the Crown Prince absent, the Princes have taken out all their skills to vie for the throne.
