Three Treasures: Spoiled Wife Goes Wild-Chapter 1661: Grace in Trouble
But by the time she finished speaking, Grace Thompson’s voice was already slurred.
Justin Battleson lowered his head and saw that Grace Thompson had already fallen asleep.
He carefully reached out to tuck away that stray strand of hair next to Grace Thompson’s cheek. His usually chilly eyes were now filled with warmth.
"Alright, from now on, that’s how Dad will think."
Originally, Justin Battleson intended to take Grace Thompson back to the children’s room, but as he passed the room, he noticed the lights inside were still on.
The door was slightly ajar, allowing Charlotte Thompson inside to catch a glimpse of Justin Battleson passing by.
"Why is Grace here?"
Charlotte looked at Grace in Justin’s arms with some surprise. She lowered her voice, intending to take Grace from him, but Justin shook his head, indicating he could hold her.
Justin briefly explained to Charlotte about bumping into Grace earlier.
Justin said softly, "Charlotte, let’s hurry and take Grace back to her room."
However, Charlotte stopped Justin’s movements: "Let Grace sleep with us tonight. If we take her back, it might disturb the other children."
Justin agreed without objection and carried Grace back to his and Charlotte’s room.
After tucking Grace in, Charlotte looked at her peaceful and sweet sleeping face and instinctively curled her lips into a smile.
Yet this warm moment did not last long. Just as Charlotte was about to fall asleep, she heard painful groans.
In a hurry, Charlotte turned on the bedside lamp, only to see Grace, who was lying next to her, with a pained expression.
Her little hand was tightly clutching the front of her pajama shirt, breathing short and quick, making her cheeks instantly pale frighteningly.
"Grace!"
Charlotte’s tone was tense, and she immediately lifted Grace from the bed without hesitation.
Justin draped a coat over Charlotte and then went to get the car, rushing Grace to the nearest hospital.
To save time, Justin ran through every red light, yet Grace’s condition was worsening by the minute.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Grace was immediately taken to the emergency room. Charlotte instinctively tried to follow but was stopped by the doctors outside.
At this point, all color had drained from Charlotte’s face. Trembling lips and unable to move an inch, she stood outside the emergency room.
Seeing this, Justin pulled Charlotte by her wrist, forcibly prying open her clenched palm. Her nails had dug deep into her flesh, nearly drawing blood.
"Grace will be alright."
Justin’s face wasn’t much better; just moments ago, Grace was comforting him, and now she was here in the hospital.
"Why did this happen? Why..."
Finally, when she saw Justin, the emotions Charlotte had been suppressing in her chest burst out, and tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
Her body seemed to shiver beyond her control, revealing just how anxious and scared Charlotte felt inside.
Charlotte had never seen Grace like this before; every detail was etched into her mind, impossible to forget.
Time had never felt as long as it did now for Charlotte.
Her heart felt as though a knife was pressed against it, stabbing into her flesh with every breath.
