Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 581: Both Gunfight and Hand-to-Hand Combat
Chapter 581: Chapter 581: Both Gunfight and Hand-to-Hand Combat
Although the pirates were abundant in number and guns, they were just a mob, untrained and terrible shots at best. Their primary tactic was intimidating others by waving their guns around. But when faced with a professional like Su Hui, whose shooting was both quick and accurate, the difference was clear.
Su Hui took position at the entrance of the cave, using various cargo as her cover, and every time she opened fire, she hit her target.
There were already over a dozen pirates who had been shot and were writhing in pain on the ground. Some were even retreating in agonizing pain. It was clear, despite their regular show of fierceness, they were just using sheer numbers to their advantage. In truth, they were scared to death.
"What’s going on? Why haven’t we stormed in yet?" The pirate leader was frustrated, seeing his men recoil in fear. He angrily kicked one of them.
"Boss, we can’t. That woman’s shooting is too on point." A subordinate hadn’t even finished his sentence before the pirate leader slapped him over turning him onto his side. He then yelled, "What good does her aim do if she runs out of bullets? Get back in there!" But as soon as he turned around, he saw his men backing off another three steps.
At this time, Qiao Ya and Su Lei had arrived, catching sight of their troubling situation. Even they couldn’t have anticipated Su Hui’s skills, her shooting undoubtedly having been honed through professional training.
On the other side, Su Hui had lost count of how many pirates she had shot; all she knew was that it was quite a large number. At the same time, she knew her ammunition was running low. With no other choice, she switched guns with Lu Yi.
All of their hopes were clinging onto Su Hui at this point. However, it seemed like she wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer. What were they going to do afterwards?
Du Jun, Gu Ling, Xu Haowen, Ouyang Jin, the captain and all other crew members had already ventured into the cave in hopes of finding a boat to escape.
"Hurry up and keep up." Du Jun knew every second at this time was crucial to survival. Su Hui couldn’t defend the cave indefinitely, therefore, he needed to find a getaway boat before it was too late. Otherwise, they were all doomed.
Du Jun held a gun in his hand too. He knew how to use it because his wealth had afforded him the opportunity to play with firearms; his shooting skills were average but under these circumstances, they were a lifesaver.
Gu Ling came along with the intention of using her sensing abilities to detect impending danger, which would greatly help Du Jun secure a boat to escape.
As they ventured deeper into the cave, the crew discovered a large man-made room that appeared to have been burrowed into the mountain wall. No one knew how the pirates excavated the mountain to let seawater flow into the cave, converting the interior into a dock.
Du Jun, Gu Ling, Ouyang Jin, the captain, and a few other crew members reached the dock. Finding it deserted, with only three vessels berthed.
Several crew members couldn’t contain their excitement, eager to board the boat. However, just at that moment, Gu Ling sensed danger but it was too late to stop them.
Certainly, pirates were guarding the dock. Once they heard sounds from outside, they knew something was amiss, so they hid, then sprang out as soon as they saw the crew attempting to steal a boat. Without a second thought, they opened fire.
The crew members, taken by surprise, were horrified and soon hit by the barrage of bullets. They wailed in agony and fell into the sea, turning the water crimson.
Du Jun started shooting back instinctively, but miss. He quickly took cover, narrowly avoiding turning into a human sieve.
Gu Ling shouted, "Brother Du Jun, don’t be afraid. I will sense the danger and will warn you immediately. Feel free to shoot them."
"What? You want me to shoot back in the open? Are you crazy?" Du Jun was not questioning Gu Ling’s sensing abilities. He had witnessed their uncanny accuracy. The problem, however, was that too much was at stake. What if one time her ability failed?
Gu Ling reassured him while laughing, "Brother Du Jun, don’t be scared. Trust me." With that, she pushed Du Jun into the open.
"Oh my god, Xiaoling, you are setting me up," as Du Jun stumbled out into the open, he saw several pirates aiming their guns at him, shivering with fright. He didn’t even dare to look at them.
However, thanks to the pirates wildly inaccurate shooting, none of the first flurry of bullets managed to hit him.
Listening to the blasts and feeling the bullets whiz past him, Du Jun’s heart rate skyrocketed. Being shot was far from a laughing matter.
But moments later, he realized he was unscathed. He opened his eyes and patted his body, he was perfectly alright and in disbelief, he turned back to look at Gu Ling, who was cheering him on with a thumbs-up gesture.
"Xiaoling, I had no idea your sensing abilities were that powerful. I am thrilled," Du Jun was suddenly invigorated. He raised his gun and began firing back aggressively, even shouting out in excitement, creating an image like he is going to take down all the pirates in one go.
However, Du Jun’s shooting was mediocre at best. He had been shooting for a while and hadn’t hit a single pirate yet.
Ouyang Jin sighed, shaking his head. "Gosh, you are wasting an opportunity. Make good use of it."
"Forget it, let’s engage in hand-to-hand combat," Du Jun discarded his gun in frustration and lunged at a pirate.
The pirates were reloading their guns and weren’t expecting Du Jun to rush them, resulting in them tumbling onto the ground in a tussle.
"Let’s join the fight, everyone," Ouyang Jin shouted, leading the crew to overpower the pirates by virtue of their numerical advantage.
Soon a brawl ensued on the dock, with the battle between the crew and the pirates unfolding in an unattractive manner. Some were even locked in each other’s arms.
Seeing his crew bravely fighting against the pirates, the captain sighed, "What a situation!" But despite sighing, he took off his jacket and joined the fray.
Being a girl, Gu Ling naturally didn’t participate in the brawl. Their side had the advantage in numbers; more than a dozen people against three pirates, making the fight four against one. Some were even chasing after the pirates.
After a fierce fight, they successfully captured the three pirates and seized their weapons, boosting the number of guns on Du Jun’s side.
Having a gun gave everyone a sense of security, but one of the crew members used their newfound weapons to make the captured pirates their target. Several shots later, the pirates were dead.
Du Jun was furious, "What are you doing? They were already subdued. We don’t need to kill them. We are not ruthless villains, we don’t need to annihilate everyone."
"We don’t need to kill them all, but we do need to take revenge for our comrades." The crew member pointed at the blood-red sea.
Everyone was reminded of their fellow crew members who had been shot and fell into the sea in desperation, and their inner rage was rekindled. They were filled with loathing for the pirates.
