At that moment, her roommate called. Naturally, out of roommate’s concern, she wanted to know where Yang Xinran was and when she was coming back.

Yang Xinran asked, "Is Lin Xi still in the dorm?"

The roommate replied, "Don’t worry, Lin Xi has left. You can come back now."

"She is out? It’s late, what is she doing? She couldn’t be meeting Gu Fan, could she?" Yang Xinran was on the call with her roommate, and what she was saying was overheard by few people who hadn’t left yet.

The four men and one woman all paused in their tracks, especially the beautiful woman with short hair, who was frowning deeply.

One of the men asked, "What’s wrong, Ning Qi? Have you discovered something?"

Another man said, "The student we just saved mentioned Lin Xi and Gu Fan. Aren’t these the people you’ve asked us to find?"

"It can’t be a coincidence. They couldn’t just happen to have the same names?" The men found it hard to believe, thinking they had stumbled upon a clue so easily.

Ning Qi appeared intrigued, "It’s very possible, do you guys know of any universities around here?"

One man replied, "There is indeed a university nearby. This girl likely goes there. The Gu Fan and Lin Xi you’re looking for are likely there as well."

At this, Ning Qi nodded, "I realize it’s challenging, but this is already far better than not having a clue at all. Our search range has now narrowed down from the whole city to one university. That means the difficulty has considerably decreased."

"That makes sense. Actually, I have a better way." After saying this, the man nearest to Ning Qi started jogging to catch up with Yang Xinran.

The other three men paused, wondering what he was doing.

Yang Xinran left, and the man came back waving his phone. He had engaged Yang Xinran in conversation and received her phone number, suggesting they could chat anytime. In other words, they had just narrowed their search down to Yang Xinran’s vicinity.

Ning Qi expressed her approval, "Well done. Yang Xinran definitely knows Lin Xi and Gu Fan. We can find our targets through her." Having said that, Ning Qi felt very satisfied with that night’s progress.

At this moment, Yang Xinran looked at the message that had just come in from the handsome man. She was delighted. It seemed to her that despite the evening’s close brush, she even managed to get a handsome man to ask for her number, proving her charm.

Yang Xinran was in high spirits. Her steps were light. As she neared the university gate, she ran into Gu Fan riding his bicycle, so she greeted him.

Yang Xinran looked at him doubtfully, "Strange, can’t your sister be without her phone? She could pick it up early tomorrow, right? Is this the excuse you’re using to come back and see Lin Xi?"

"Not at all, my parents are abroad, and my sister sends them messages every night to let them know she’s safe. My phones just, uh, fell in the toilet..." Gu Fan trailed off, looking embarrassed. He really was having bad luck.

Yang Xinran didn’t dwell on Gu Fan’s real intention, but asked, "Gu Fan, after you saved us from the foreign region, you have been avoiding us. Why? There are still so many questions you haven’t answered."

"What’s there to answer? I’ve already explained everything. You could ask the police." Gu Fan was ready to leave. He didn’t want to engage in this conversation with Yang Xinran.

Hearing him, Ning Qi came back to reality and laughed it off, "It’s nothing. I must have been mistaken. Enough thinking for the night, it’s getting late. Let’s head home and we can meet up tomorrow."
