Tianyi found himself standing in front of a vast expanse of emptiness. No, it couldn’t be called empty because a human stood across from him.

That man was Pangu.

The two stood across from each other at an unquantifiable distance. Their heights were similar, with Pangu being a head taller. Yet, to Tianyi’s senses, he felt like a mortal facing a mountain-sized titan.

Even from an outsider’s perspective, one resembled a man of nobility who seemed to have never picked up anything heavy in his life. The other was a savage who gorged on raw meat and downed blood. If the two of them fought, it was obvious who would triumph.

The two did not immediately take action. Although it seemed like there was a distance separating them, their souls had already collided. Tianyi’s soul mirrored a surging river, while Pangu resembled an immovable stone. No matter how fast the river crashed into it, the stone would not shift.

Of course, Tianyi wasn’t just staring. He was using all his might to detect any weaknesses in Pangu. Unfortunately, because of his lacking abilities, he could sense nothing. Every time he stimulated an attack in his mind, all he could see was himself rebounding.

Tianyi continued to devise a way to attack Pangu, but the latter wouldn’t wait for him indefinitely. Just as Tianyi analyzed Pangu for weaknesses, so did Pangu. Unlike Tianyi, he identified many weaknesses.

They were weaknesses that Tianyi had carried throughout his life, not just after he entered the Divine Realm. For anyone else, they would have long died from people targeting those weaknesses, but for Tianyi, they weren’t weaknesses at all. Owing to his unique inner universe, he could ignore all attacks that targeted those weak points—at least until now.

An axe appeared in Pangu’s hand without warning. Before Tianyi even knew it, Pangu had appeared in front of him, axe raised high. He cleaved down. It was not a wonderful display of countless divine-level laws or an elegant fusion of myriad laws. Pangu’s attack was a simple application of using brute force to conquer all things.

“Ahhhh!”

Tianyi screamed as he appeared a distance away. He clutched his chest. He was wounded, but the wound was only a few millimeters deep into his skin, just enough to draw blood. However, no blood was drawn, only the muscle beneath was revealed. Logically speaking, such a slight wound should not have caused Tianyi such pain.

It was true that compared to all his other parameters, his willpower fell behind, but he was still someone who cultivated to the Divine Realm, after all. Such a slight wound should not have made him scream like a dying monkey.

He had forgotten one important part. He and Pangu were not in their physical forms but as souls. Without the physical body as a buffer, every attack acted directly on the soul. In a sense, both of them had become divinities purely of the soul path.

Despite Tianyi’s scream, Pangu would not show mercy. Tianyi continued to scream and retreat under Pangu’s attacks. Wounds littered Tianyi’s body, some small and some large. Fortunately, none of them were lethal, but that didn’t mean Tianyi’s situation was good.

Those wounds were injuries to his soul. Even a divinity could not heal them easily. If it were one or two, time would work well, but they covered his entire body, and new ones continually appeared. It could be said that this was the greatest injury Tianyi had ever received since his birth. And that record was rising nonstop.

However, Tianyi wasn’t without gains. At least he discovered the source behind Pangu’s overwhelming might. Each axe strike might seem like a crude application of brute force, but behind each swing was a meticulous calculation and fusion of various laws. The techniques could even be called delicate, the farthest description one could attribute to Pangu based on his appearance alone.

Despite the delicateness, the application of each axe strike was perfect—so perfect that Tianyi couldn’t find a flaw. Without a flaw, Tianyi could not break or counter the technique.

He was, however, not without gains. Although Pangu’s application methods were too perfect, making them seem like a whole and difficult to dissect, Tianyi still made some gains. After all, he continuously received those axe strikes—not to mention the pain.

Under Pangu’s attack, his willpower, which resembled loose sand, condensed. Although it couldn’t be as solid as steel or even rock, it was still much firmer than before. With his current willpower, he could have lasted until his advantage reached over eighty percent before Pangu broke his defenses. Unfortunately, there were no ifs.

A sword appeared in Tianyi’s hand. It resembled the Four Immortal Extermination Swords that he had taken from the Heavenly Immortal Court’s treasury. Originally, he planned to use them as a trump card against the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System or as a threat. Unfortunately, plans could not keep up with the changes.

Compared to the Four Immortal Extermination Swords, which could only be used as a threat, Chaos Fusion was the superior choice. Even if he had the Four Immortal Extermination Swords, it was unlikely to make the Heavenly Dao compromise. Perhaps the reason the Lord of Numinous Treasures was ganged up on by the Lord of Primordial Beginnings and the Lord of Way and Virtue was because of the power of the Four Immortal Extermination Sword Formation. Maybe the Heavenly Dao even had a hand in this. It did not need to scheme, only push the general direction of the flow.

Although it looked like one of the Four Immortal Extermination Swords and emitted a similar aura, it was ultimately a replica. Tianyi used it to defend himself. Yes, defend, not attack. He had not even reached the point of being able to counter Pangu. Although he had made some improvements, it was not enough.

Tianyi created another Immortal Extermination Sword, but Pangu’s axe sheared through it. Luckily, that small second allowed Tianyi to dodge the axe head, leaving his body unharmed. It was the first time that happened, and it was not luck. Rather, it was a testament to Tianyi’s improvement and resilience.

Just because he blocked it this one time did not mean Tianyi could repeat that feat. Pangu’s attacks became sharper and more powerful. He was not improving but awakening and returning to his full power. The next ten axe strikes all landed on Tianyi, but they were shallower than before.

Finally, Tianyi completely dodged a second axe at the cost of one of the Immortal Extermination Sword replicas. However, creating those replicas required a price. They did not use up divine essence, as this was a soul space between Tianyi and Pangu. As such, they used soul essence.

Each time Tianyi created a replica of an Immortal Extermination Sword, his reservoir of soul essence dwindled. And each creation was not cheap, either. Were it an average divinity other than Tianyi, who possessed a soul at the universe level, they might have collapsed already.

Tianyi didn’t know how many times he clashed with Pangu. He lost count after a million. Time seemed meaningless in this space, and only one of them would remain in the end. Sometimes he could dodge Pangu’s axe several times, giving him space to breathe, but just as he thought he could continue this streak, Pangu’s axe would strike him again and again for the next several blows.

It was an eternal struggle where the slightest imbalance would tip the scales.

Although he had stopped screaming or grimacing at each wound, that did not mean they did not affect him. On the contrary, he felt it deep in his very soul each time the axe touched his skin. Despite all his struggles, not once had his sword reached Pangu; it was only he who suffered.

However, Tianyi did not give up. He focused all his attention on the principles behind Pangu’s axe strikes, partly because this was the only avenue he saw for improvement so that he could contend against this primordial divinity, and partly because by focusing on analyzing the technique and improving himself, he could numb the pain he felt from his injuries.

The more clashes Tianyi experienced, the more he felt a hidden intention behind Pangu’s axe. It wasn’t something like axe intent. If it were, his heaven intent would have suppressed it. No, it was something more primal, like the call of creation.

Tianyi knew he had felt it somewhere before, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on where. His mind buzzed, and his instincts shouted at him. If he could figure it out, he would no longer be suppressed.

More and more injuries appeared on Tianyi’s body as he continued to strive to defeat Pangu, all while the latter remained unharmed. Certainly, Pangu could not be as carefree as he appeared. Even though he wasn’t injured, any exertion still required soul essence, but that only went to show Pangu’s efficiency at converting soul essence into power.

Finally, Tianyi made a mistake. The axe cleaved down, and Tianyi could only raise his arm in defense. The blade struck his forearm, pausing at the skin for a moment, deforming it before slicing into his flesh. At first, nothing happened, but then a burst of blood gushed out like a geyser.

Tianyi’s eyes widened, and he distanced himself. His fangs showed. He finally remembered where he had seen it.

Without waiting, he rushed forward like a wild beast, sword held high above his head. Pangu stood his ground and raised his axe above himself as well. Simultaneously, both of them cleaved down.

Both weapons clashed, blade against blade. The screech of metal when steel meets steel did not occur. Instead, there was a bang, as if mimicking the collision of planets. Time seemed to stand still, and then, a crack appeared on Tianyi’s Immortal Extermination Sword.

But it did not split.

He had seen Pangu’s axe before, but it wasn’t wielded with an axe—it was with a sword. When he transcended his Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation, a mirror of himself had appeared outside of the sphere he had condensed in the Black Hole Realm. He had used a sword to cleave it open and start the Big Bang that created the universe, the Nine Heavens Universe.

Tianyi called this strike: Nine Heavens Style—Universe Genesis.

He raised the Immortal Extermination Sword—no, it should be called the Immortal Genesis Sword—and slashed down. In the time it took him to raise it, the cracks had mended.

Pangu did not back down and also struck with his axe. Another resounding bang. Another crack on Tianyi’s sword, but compared to the first time, the cracks were marginally smaller.

Clash after clash, Tianyi’s Immortal Genesis Sword suffered crack after crack, but they became smaller and smaller until a crack didn’t appear in one collision. After two collisions, cracks would reappear, but like before, they became smaller and smaller until it could withstand two axe strikes without cracking once.

Tianyi’s improvements did not stop. Although he had only created this technique based on that feeling from when he became immortal, the process was extremely similar to when he forcibly merged various laws together until they exploded. Now, he was using that experience to hone Universe Genesis.

Nine Heavens Style—Universe Genesis was not a sword technique, but a pure application method. If Tianyi wanted to, he could use it as a punch or a kick. He simply used a sword because he was more accustomed to it.

The clash between Tianyi and Pangu raged on. As it progressed, Pangu suffered injury after injury. The number of times compared to Tianyi was low but slowly increased with time. As time passed, the injuries eventually grew until more and more of their bodies disappeared.

Tianyi eventually lost his entire left arm, but Pangu only lost some of his fingers. When Tianyi’s left foot disappeared, Pangu only lost half his hand. After some time, everything beneath Tianyi’s knees disappeared; Pangu only lost a forearm.

When Tianyi was left with only his head, torso, and right arm, Pangu had only lost one arm and most of his right leg. At this rate, it was clear that Tianyi would disappear before Pangu.

Tianyi racked his brain, trying to think of another way to tilt the situation in his favor, but he had nothing. Everything he could use was already summoned, and he had no fallback. No familiar sensation, no genius inspiration—nothing.

“As I thought, you couldn’t do it.” A third voice suddenly interrupted this private space where only Tianyi and Pangu should have appeared. “Pangu, for everything you’ve done, take my sword!”
