This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!-Chapter 129 - Lucina’s Secret
Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Lucina’s Secret
This time, Lucina and Chen Ke got straight into Boss Tang’s muscle car.
The car was fitted with a V8 engine, boasting a powerful 600 horsepower. It could accelerate from 0 to 100 yards in just 0.79 seconds, clearly tuned for straight-line speed contests.
Lucina first drove the car around the empty space nearby, then she aimed the car’s nose toward the broken bridge.
“Ready?” Chen Ke took a deep breath and looked at Lucina.
Lucina didn’t respond; she just gave Chen Ke a thought-provoking glance.
In an instant, Chen Ke understood something.
“Wait a minute… you did that on purpose just now…?” Chen Ke asked.
Before he could finish, Lucina floored the gas pedal, and the car charged toward the broken bridge like an arrow released from its bow.
The growl of the 600 horsepower twin-bar V8 engine was primal, like a black wild horse, with its rear wheels carving deep tire tracks in the soggy mud.
As the car hit the bridge, a clattering sound came from underneath—the sound of wheels clashing with thick wooden planks. For a moment, Chen Ke genuinely worried whether the bridge would collapse.
The car’s top theoretical speed could reach 380 yards per hour. Jumping the gap from the high point of the broken bridge to the other side was certainly not difficult.
If there was to be a failure, it would only be because of the driver’s final moment of fear.
But Lucina was fearless. As the car’s front wheels lifted, the needle on the speedometer was already shakily pointing to 180.
Next, Chen Ke felt as if he, too, was airborne, though he was sitting in the car seat, underneath him seemed a chasm deeper than any toilet hole…
The car boiled in mid-air, the nose slowly tilting down, and Chen Ke watched the world outside the windshield roll down like the curtain at the end of a stage play.
Then, the front wheels finally touched down, and the back wheels landed at the very edge of the broken bridge.
With a “thud!” the car briefly lost control, but Lucina pulled the handbrake and clutched the steering wheel, sliding the car to a stop at the entrance of the woods.
Chen Ke felt as if he had just been stuffed into a plummeting high-speed refrigerator. The moment they landed, his soul nearly shook out of his body.
The two sat in their seats in silence for a while, then Lucina burst into laughter.
“Did you see that? Chen Ke! Did you see it?! We were flying!” she exclaimed excitedly, shaking Chen Ke’s arm non-stop.
“Yes… yes, I saw, and I felt it too…” Chen Ke groaned slightly, rubbing his waist.
“Hope you don’t have hemorrhoids… because we’re doing this again tomorrow!” Lucina laughed.
“That’s very considerate of you!” Chen Ke sighed.
Hall and Priskin were shouting from the other side of the broken bridge, both excited and worried. It wasn’t until Chen Ke and Lucina emerged from the car that they finally cheered and high-fived each other.
“I bet none of you could do that,” Lucina boasted.
“That was a spectacular jump, the car’s all right?” Hall shouted over.
“I think it’s fine. Which car are we using for another go tomorrow?” Chen Ke leaned against the car door, still a bit uncomfortable in his waist.
“Tomorrow you guys are using this,” Priskin pointed to the GTR behind him, “The GTR R35 doesn’t have as much horsepower as that one, but it’s a lot lighter. Lucina, you confident?”
“No problem, I can fly any car over,” Lucina said as she stretched out, cracking her knuckles and flexing her biceps, making Chen Ke feel self-conscious.
“Alright, what’s next?” Chen Ke asked.
“You drive the car into the woods and then cover it with the stuff from the trunk. Priskin and I will wait for you guys on the other side of the forest. You remember how it’s drawn on the map, right?” Hall reminded.
“Of course, I remember,” Chen Ke said as he pulled out a copy of the route map Hall had given him that morning.
Hall and Priskin each drove a car towards the other side of the woods, while Chen Ke and Lucina were to drive Boss Tang’s muscle car into a hidden spot within the forest.
The journey was smooth sailing, with nothing but the silent emerald green lining both sides of the trail. Chen Ke rested one arm on the car window’s edge, propping up his chin, his mind recalling various things from the Fan Hede Kingdom.
At that moment, Lucina started a conversation.
“Chen, were you born and bred in the United Federation as an Asian, or are you an immigrant?” she asked.
“I come from a place that’s very far away,” he answered with a smile.
“So, you’re an immigrant from the Fei Huang Republic?” Lucina glanced at Chen Ke.
“Even further than that, beyond what you might expect,” Chen Ke said with a shake of his head and a smile.
“Ah… a secret? Alright, I get it. But I’m still curious about what you used to do,” Lucina said.
“Just like you, I eked out a living in the underworld,” Chen Ke replied.
“I’ve been surviving in that hidden world with my dad since I was little, how come I’ve never heard about you?” Lucina found it hard to believe.
“Not everyone ends up making a name for themselves. Most just muddle through life,” Chen Ke said with a smile.
“You’re definitely not someone who just muddles through life. I bet you deliberately kept yourself hidden…” Lucina wanted to say something more, but she thought better of it and held back.
“What about you? Since when have you been part of this world?” Chen Ke asked with interest.
“Like I told you, since I was little,” Lucina said with a laugh.
“How young?” Chen Ke pressed.

“When other little girls were getting dolls as their first birthday presents, what I got was a dagger,” Lucina looked at Chen Ke, her eyes filled with pride.
“Oh… It seems you’re different from most girls… quite special,” Chen Ke remarked.
“I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all. It was my choice, not something I was forced into. This path was a joint decision between me and my dad. I mean… I kill, I rob, but I’m a good girl, you know?” Lucina said, looking at Chen Ke.
“I understand… I understand… Watch the road…” Chen Ke said, a bit flustered.
“I’m not one of those girls who clutches a doll, wears a lace dress, enters five-star hotels and sleeps with wealthy, handsome boys for luxury cosmetics. I know what you’re thinking, Chen Ke, I know.” Lucina was getting agitated.
“No, no… You’re overthinking it, I didn’t mean that,” Chen Ke said, shaking his hand.
In reality, girls like Lucina were indeed rare; her muscles were no less developed than a man’s, she acted impulsively yet with passion. However, the mainstream aesthetic of the world wasn’t like this… which is why she became so excited at topics like these.
It was a kind of instinctual aversion.
“Okay, I was a bit worked up just now. Let’s change the topic. You look pretty strong, do you fight in freestyle combat?” Lucina asked.
“No, I’ve never tried,” Chen Ke shook his head. He only knew how to kill with his bare hands, not competitive fighting techniques.
“If you’re interested, maybe we can arrange a time…” Lucina glanced at Chen Ke, noticing a hint of red on his face.
“I’ll bet I can take you down in 20 seconds, a straight punch to shatter your jaw, a hook to make you vomit everything in your stomach, and then stand on your head with one foot, burying you in your own puke,” Lucina said with a laugh.
“Focus on driving, Lucina… focus,” Chen Ke said, patting Lucina’s shoulder. He had never heard a woman flirt like this…
“Who taught you to drive anyway?” Chen Ke asked.
“My dad taught me. For us, driving is a skill for escaping with our lives,” Lucina replied with a laugh.
“We’ve talked about a lot, but you’ve never mentioned your… mother?” Chen Ke asked with a smile.
The car suddenly lurched as Lucina slammed on the brakes, sliding forward for a bit. If not for the seatbelt, Chen Ke reckoned he would have hit the windshield.
Silence.
“Lucina?” Chen Ke gently asked.
“We’re here,” Lucina said without looking back, got out of the car, and slammed the door shut.
