This Giant Dragon is So Powerful!-Chapter 40 - 39: Unusual Advancement
Twenty or so kobolds dressed in vine armor and wielding long spears surrounded nine raptors in the middle of an open clearing.
Below these raptors lay a beast torn and mangled beyond recognition.
The beast was bait, a trap to lure these raptors into the encirclement.
The raptors let out sharp cries, restless and agitated.
Until the kobolds steadily approached, the raptors could stand it no longer, and under the lead of the strongest raptor leader, they charged at the kobold warriors in one direction.
The raptors’ claws, sharp as small knives, fiercely slashed at the kobold warrior standing in the front, but the latter coldly pulled out a small vine wood shield from behind and held it in front.
The claws scraped across the surface of the vine wood shield, leaving deep marks while the tremendous impact pushed the kobolds back several steps before they stopped.
However, the rebound also caused the raptors to momentarily lose speed and agility.
The kobold warriors from the other three directions took the opportunity, holding their long spears in both hands, muscles in their arms and thighs bulging, and fiercely stabbed at the raptors’ bellies, heads, and other vulnerable parts.
The piercing cries of agony echoed.
During this time, some raptors, not severely injured, frantically dashed at the kobold warriors, swinging their claws, wide-mouthed, to bite and attack.
But in the end, under the steady siege of twenty-plus kobold warriors, not a single raptor escaped the circle of death.
Bodies littered the ground, and slowly flowing blood soaked the land.
The hunting battle was thus concluded.
A kobold warrior picked up the bone whistle on their chest and blew it by their mouth. The crisp sound of the bone whistle spread around.
Not long after, rustling sounds came from the southern jungle.
Approximately twenty to thirty kobolds, holding bundles of vine rope tied to their hands and carrying baskets on their backs, rushed out from the forest.
Upon arriving at the site, without saying a word, they quickly took off the baskets, pulled out a glass bottle, and placed them at the bleeding wounds of the raptors to collect the blood.
One glass bottle after another filled with blood was placed back into the baskets.
These glass bottles were prepared by the Higlind family, with many in stock in the Green Forest Tribe’s warehouse. Because the crafting process of these glass bottles incorporates a special mineral powder that slows decay and keeps the blood fresh for at least half a year, they are excellent storage containers.
After collecting the raptors’ blood, this kobold team specialized in handling prey began the skinning process.
Raptor leather is a top-quality material for making leather armor, highly sought after among the lower-level mercenaries, adventurers, and even demon tribes.
The merchant associations formed by the Higlind family sell many goods, primarily weapons, equipment, and potions, hence their huge demand for demon beasts’ materials and blood.
Once the skinning work was finished, the kobold team skillfully tied vine rope to the bloodied raptors’ claws and feet, threaded through arm-thick wooden sticks, lifted them in teams of two, and headed towards the Black Blood Valley.
The whole process had become extremely familiar.
Seeing the team handling the prey’s corpses begin their journey back, the kobold warriors responsible for combat hunting finally stood up from the ground.
They stayed nearby, both to rest and to ensure the safety of the kobold team handling the prey.
"Let’s move out, continue hunting!"
Shiji, who hadn’t spoken since the battle began until the prey handling was completed, opened his mouth.
Though his expression was indifferent, a hint of satisfaction flickered in his eyes.
Since the master gave orders, both the Green Forest Tribe and the Black Blood Tribe have been organizing large numbers of hunting teams to go hunting.
To reduce the mortality rate of these hunting teams, Shiji, Kadan, Mondo, along with two giant demons and seven big goblins, were dispersed among the hunting teams to serve as their safety guarantee.
When encountering danger beyond the hunting team’s capability, they will intervene and handle it. In the nearby valley areas where intermediate demons are hard to find, these "safety guarantees" would step in when needed, the danger at least being repelled, greatly reducing the death rate of goblin warriors and kobold warriors in the hunting teams.
But if the danger and combat are within the hunting team’s capability, these "safety guarantees" would coldly watch, thereby training and unleashing the power of the Dragon Vein within these warriors.
This process will inevitably have casualties, that’s unavoidable, but influenced by the Banquet Talent, the casualty rate is reducing rapidly.
In the beginning, having several warriors lost per hunting team per day was quite normal. However, as time passed, the mortality within the hunting teams reduces increasingly.
Until the last two days, the combined twelve hunting teams had casualties of only five warriors, where all were injuries rather than fatalities; after a period of recovery, they would be able to rejoin the hunting teams for combat.
"My master’s lineage is truly formidable." Shiji sometimes couldn’t help but secretly marvel.
Following his master for quite some time, he has watched his master grow from under five meters long to over eight meters, more than doubling in size!
Such an astonishing growth rate, even if Shiji isn’t very knowledgeable, he knows this isn’t the growth speed an ordinary giant dragon should have.
His master is a particularly strong and infinitely potential giant dragon, and under the command of such a dragon master, he, Shiji, perhaps even has the chance to witness broader scenery.
.....
Udi withdrew the first-person perspective from Shiji, with a flicker of satisfaction in his eyes.
It seems he wouldn’t have to worry about not having enough food for a long time.
"Less than ten days left until the next Banquet opens." Udi exhaled slowly, causing a gust of wind to arise at the Dragon Nest.
The ability to exhale like arrows, after strengthening his body with the Banquet time and time again, Udi is estimated to soon attain it, bringing it to reality.
Perhaps, after stacking hundreds or thousands of Banquet layers, Udi, just by breathing, could create enormous storms with his mere physical body.
Udi closed his eyes; the "movie" he put on for himself was finished; he’s due to continue researching magic.
Time flew by, and half a month passed.
The agreed-upon trade time with the Higlind family was today.
At the waterfall pool, in the Dragon Nest, Udi paused his magic research and looked at his status panel.
