The X Guide-Chapter 91: To Travel The Chaotic Lands (3)
It had to be known that the main headquarters of the clans were situated in the yellow zones and not in the capital. The location of the Nevaris Clan was a considerable distance from the capital.
Ayen decisively left and escaped before anyone noticed his actions. Luckily enough, no one thought Ayen would leave. After all, he was a weak guide, and without fighting skills, how could he survive outside?
He already left the yellow zone’s vicinity when they were alerted. Ayen had evaded their pursuits for months. It was such a miracle that he managed to survive until Ayen decided to enter the Guide Association.
Ayen did not need to go to the capital. He joined a small green zone along the way. Only then did Ayen finally breathe somewhat from his months of being always on guard. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
The government paid attention to the Guide Association because it was filled mostly with their guides, which was vital for espers. While Ayen was an E-class, he was still a guide nonetheless.
That time, the tension between the clans and the government had already started to heat up. Their actions might lead to provoking the war early, and so they could only watch Ayen become integrated into the association.
Ayen did not use his family name, but it was still easy for them to know his whereabouts. For the first couple of years, Ayen only studied in the association.
Then he gradually took the field; that was when the influence of the clan came to light again. Ayen noticed it earlier on, but he did not stop it.
It was like a challenge, a spite.
Look, I’m still alive. But what can you do about it?
Gradually, Ayen had also become so numb to it that he did not even bother to think about them anymore. As for the espers that targeted him, Ayen had not heard from them since then.
They might have given up already. Only some of the relatives still refuse to let him go.
"For months... I traveled from zone to zone. The capital was my destination, but halfway I gave up. I couldn’t continue anymore."
For some reason, even though he was telling them the hardest point of his life, Ayen’s voice was stable. His heart was settled in a kind of peace, and he knew the reason why.
Seeing the fire of rage in those pairs of eyes, Ayen suddenly thought that his perseverance to survive that time was not in vain.
He might be alone then and in the subsequent years, but from here on and in the future? Ayen began to look forward to walking with them along the way.
And so, Ayen welcomed this trip so much. He wanted to replace the dark memories with something he enjoyed, and Ayen knew he deserved it.
He was not one to wallow in his past, but if someone were willing to shoulder the burden of those memories... Ayen thought that it was not that bad.
The wounds were there, and the scars would never leave him.
Ayen was broken for far too long; the pieces of him had long been scattered to the wind. Perhaps he would never be able to find them to complete himself.
Yet, he did not mind. He did not need it to become whole again.
In front of him... Ayen was willing to try not only to pick up his pieces but also to create new ones for himself.
Suffering his pain and hatred... Ayen was not alone anymore.
The ominous aura that surrounded them did not scare Ayen at all. For he knew why Khal and Devion were mad. It was not directed to him.
"Let’s sleep? I’m suddenly feeling sleepy." Ayen yawned and stood up. He went to the two and reached with both of his hands.
Ayen looked down, and the shadow of indifference in his face appeared gentle, and his eyes glimmered with a new spark.
It might be the light, but this warmth spread to the two and eased the madness that took root within them.
The ominous aura around the two eased, and both held Ayen’s hand. Slowly, they pressed his hands to their lips and firmly kissed them.
Ayen watched them as both gave a silent promise.
Perhaps even the Nevaris Clan itself never knew it had suddenly become the enemy of two terrifying SS-class espers. That was how fate works, it seemed.
Ayen felt so relaxed, as though his burden had eased somewhat. His mood was better than usual, and he even took the initiative to hug both Khal and Devion.
He realized this a few days ago; he was actually clingy. Ayen never knew he would turn out to be someone who loved embracing or kissing, since he even disliked touching anyone before.
That was such a... strange discovery. Anyhow, the two were also rather pleased with this.
Khal kissed Ayen’s temple and embraced him, as Devion also hugged Ayen from behind. Their mood was still low, but since Ayen himself looked better after telling his past, they let their emotions aside.
Devion landed a few kisses on Ayen’s nape, making Ayen shudder.
Their actions were intimate, but there was not the slightest hint of lust in them. They were all just hugging and kissing, taking the comfortable opportunity to show their fondness and affection.
Truthfully enough, sharing burdens had made them a bit closer. After Ayen willingly entered their world, he also made sure to carve himself a place within.
They did not even need to ask about his past anymore, as he told it himself. And it was not forced at all; the way their conversation evolved, leading to such talks, was like a process that none of them had expected.
"You’re brave," Khal whispered as Devion tightened his arms around him.
Ayen buried his face in his chest; his hand touched Devion’s hands around him.
The three embraced silently; the rhythm of their chests matched.
A few moments later, Devion also whispers in his ear. His words made Khal smile, and Ayen bury himself more in their warmth.
"Family... we can be one too."
Even though they were not one yet, perhaps soon they would be.
