The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?!-Chapter 615 - 453 Seizing Liu Zhengโs Crime Tools_2
"Tendaros, pour some tea for the guest."
The Mini Person called out after he had settled into his seat. ๐๐ซ๐๐๐จ๐๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐๐.๐๐ผ๐
"Awoo!"
A howl echoed from the other room.
Soon enough, Tendaros came running out with a cup of tea in its mouth.
"Awoo!"
It placed the teacup on the coffee table, then fixed its unwavering gaze on Liu Zheng.
"Thank you."
Liu Zheng picked up the cup with an impassive expression and downed the liquid in one gulp. Whether it was saliva or tea, he didnโt care to find out.
Almost immediately, a wave of weakness surged through his body.
Liu Zheng felt his breathing tighten and coughed a few times, only to hack up several chunks of decayed, decrepit tissue. It was unclear whether they were from his lungs or his stomach.
"Awoo!"
Tendaros let out an excited howl, clearly pleased with its prank.
"Tendaros, you canโt treat guests like this."
The Mini Person frowned as he reproached it.
"Whine..."
The chastised hound whimpered dejectedly.
"Apologize to the guest right now, or you can forget about going out to play this week."
The Mini Person said sternly.
"Whimper whimper whimper..."
The hound seemed even more depressed now.
Pressured by its owner, it rubbed its head against Liu Zhengโs pant leg a couple of times, then dipped its head in apology twice.
"Itโs fine, itโs fine. Tendaros was just playing with me."
Liu Zheng said generously.
"Awoo!"
The hound barked proudly, as if it had gotten away with something.
"Alright, alright, go back inside and play now."
The Mini Person said with a faint sigh.
"Awoo~"
The hound brushed against Liu Zhengโs pant leg again, then bolted back to its room.
"Cough cough."
Liu Zheng was suddenly overwhelmed by smoke emanating from Tendaros and started coughing violently, spitting out another heap of meat chunks.
"Iโm sorry. Tendaros just loves to play. Iโll make sure to properly discipline it later."
The Mini Person apologized.
"Itโs alright. A bit of liveliness is a good thing."
Liu Zheng replied with effort.
"Seeing how reasonable you are, Iโll just lay it all out for you."
"City Hall contacted me. They said your habit of randomly throwing that mystery object, the molar stick, is too dangerous. But since youโre a Bloody Restaurant delivery person, they donโt want to forcibly confiscate it. So, they sent me to talk to you and see if youโd hand it over voluntarily."
The Mini Person explained.
If words couldnโt resolve it, there was always force.
After all, their relationship was merely that of a food delivery client and a courier. A little heated discussion was well within bounds.
Of course, the Mini Person preferred a peaceful resolution and had prepared a series of persuasive arguments and strategies.
But who wouldโve thought that Liu Zheng would surrender it upfront, leaving the Mini Person feeling both pleasantly surprised and strangely unfulfilled?
It was like preparing several top-tier journal papers for a promotion to full professor, only to be informed of the promotion before even submitting them.
"I see. But I wouldnโt say I toss it around that randomly, would I?"
Liu Zheng tried to defend himself.
He only averaged one throw a day. Surely that wasnโt considered frequent?
No way, no way?
"Perhaps City Hall has its own considerations."
Out of respect for Liu Zhengโs compliance, the Mini Person refrained from calling him out.
"Will they confiscate the molar stick?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"No, you havenโt used it for any illegal activities. They have no authority to confiscate it."
The Mini Person shook his head.
Of course, this was also thanks to the fact that one of them worked for the Bloody Restaurant and the other was a registered scholar at City Hall. If it were anyone else, the Security Department wouldโve seized it on the spot.
Then again, anyone capable of possessing a molar stick probably wasnโt an ordinary person to begin with.
"Iโm not unreasonable. As compensation for taking back the molar stick, feel free to make one request of me."
The Mini Person offered.
As expected of someone on track to become a professorโhis words were carefully calibrated.
"In that case, allow me to think it over."
Liu Zheng didnโt refuse the offer.
"Alright, take your time to think. Iโll read the newspaper in the meantime."
The Mini Person pulled a newspaper from the armrest of the sofa and sprawled out to read it.
Liu Zheng slouched back into the couch and began deliberating.
Since the other party was a scholar, he naturally considered academic or educational benefits first.
Knowledge was out of the question, though. First, he didnโt have an immediate need for it. Second, knowing too much in the Metropolis was rarely a good thing.
Education, on the other hand, presented several possibilities. The Vice Director Wang needed it, so did that woman from the Academic Residence, as well as his boss, Niu Ma.
But the womanโs wax-doll son was only in primary school, and Niu Maโs child hadnโt even been born yet, so their priorities were low.
As for the Vice Directorโs son, Liu Zheng wasnโt sure what grade he was in.
"Sorry, let me make a quick call."
He said.
"Go ahead."
The Mini Person waved him off without looking up from the paper.
Liu Zheng first called the Nightingale, but all he got was a series of abrupt tones, suggesting poor signal reception.
"Did the Fisherman hide her at the bottom of the river?"
He quipped.
Unable to reach the Nightingale, he tried calling Wang Manni instead.
The phone rang several times before it was finally picked up.
"Hello, is this Mr. Liu?"
Wang Manniโs slightly hoarse voice came through on the other end.
"Itโs me. Whatโs wrong with your voice? Got a cold?"
Liu Zheng asked casually, feigning concern.
"No, no, itโs nothing. Maybe I havenโt been drinking enough water."
Wang Manni replied weakly.
"Youโd have to have gone a whole year without water for it to sound like that."
He squinted skeptically.
With their supernatural constitution, even chugging a bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid wouldnโt necessarily harm their voices.
"Itโs just..."
"Manni, who are you talking to?"
Wang Manniโs response was cut off by a male voice in the background.
"Ah, Manager Ma, why did you come out?"
Wang Manni asked in a flustered tone.
"Whatโs the point of me staying inside if our leading lady isnโt there? Donโt forget, tonightโs party is specifically to celebrate your promotion."
Manager Ma said.
"Of course I havenโt forgotten. Iโll come back to join you all right after I finish this call."
"That wonโt do. Vice Director Wang is still waiting to toast with you. You canโt possibly leave your superior holding a drink by himself, can you?"
"Besides, youโre a manager now. Time to upgrade your social circles. Cut off ties with friends who bring no value; otherwise, itโll hurt your reputation."
"The attendees tonight include our companyโs leaders and executives from other firms. Keeping them entertained is way more important than anything else. Donโt you agree?"
Manager Maโs voice gradually faded.
"Manager Ma, please donโt act like this. There are so many people watching."
Wang Manni said uneasily.
"What are you afraid of? Everyone hereโs seen it all before. Didnโt you used to let loose quite easily? Now that youโve been promoted, why the sudden shyness?"
Manager Ma said indifferently.
"Iโm still on the phone."
"So what? Letting your friend hear would make it even more thrilling."
Manager Ma snickered lecherously.
"Heโs not into stuff like this."
Wang Manni shook her head.
"Then cut him off. No need to act all self-righteous. Anyway, come with me. Let me tell you, if tonightโs party goes well, your position as manager will be secure. Make everyone unhappy, and not even the Vice Director can save you. Got it?"
Manager Maโs voice rose sharply.
"Got it. Just let me finish this call, and Iโll come back right away."
Wang Manni pleaded.
"Fine, fine. Hurry it up."
Manager Ma said impatiently.
"Phew~ Sorry, Mr. Liu, for keeping you waiting."
Wang Manni exhaled deeply, adjusted her tone, and addressed Liu Zheng.
"Itโs fine. Iโm not in a rush."
Liu Zheng said.
"Thank you for understanding. Calling so lateโwhat urgent matter do you have?"
Wang Manni asked.
"Oh, just wanted to ask: what grade is your Vice Directorโs son in right now?"
"Heโs currently in the second year of high school. Why do you ask?"
Wang Manni replied.
"Itโs for something, but Iโm not sure yet. Iโll let you know once itโs confirmed."
Liu Zheng said.
"Alright. If thereโs nothing else, Iโll hang up now."
Wang Manni said.
"Wait. So late at night, arenโt you going home to rest?"
"Oh, Iโve still got work to finish here. I probably wonโt be going home tonight."
Wang Manni said.
"But do you *want* to go home?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Itโs not about what I want or donโt want. Work is workโthereโs no choice."
Wang Manni forced a bitter smile.
"Iโm not asking if you *can*. "
He shook his head.
"Iโm just asking, do you *want* to?"
