The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 269
[DEVON’s Point of View]
I couldn’t move.
I wanted to run. I wanted to escape. I wanted to go to a place where he couldn’t possibly find me. But where? My sister and I were cornered. They were too strong. Too powerful to be stopped. Even the witches and the gamma soldiers from my father’s elite unit were unable to hold back the enemies and secure the manor. There was no hope for me or my sister. I could only rely on myself and my sister’s abilities to save ourselves. No one was there to help us now. No one was coming.
My body was shaking so badly. I was scared. And so was Diana. And all I could do was whisper to my sister that I was there to protect her, no matter what. I would never let anything bad happen to her. I swore to Mom that I would protect Diana with my life, and that was what I intended to do.
So, as soon as the protection barrier was destroyed and Uncle Liam and Uncle Killian had to fight the Shadow Werewolves and the Black Claws that infiltrated the Manor, the first thing I did was to hide my sister where no one could find her, not even the old evil man who abducted us yesterday in our sleep. I was quick when I pushed the button for the ceiling ladder to go down and hide my sister there.
“Devon, please don’t let me stay here alone. I am scared.” Diana’s eyes were teary as she reached for my hand while the ladder was going up.
“I will go back for you, Diana!” I whispered to her; my heart was full of fear for my twin sister. “They couldn’t do anything that they needed from us if they didn’t find us together! You should be safe here together with our grandmother’s things and memories!” 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
“I don’t want to stay here!” she started to cry, and my heart broke into tiny pieces seeing my sister so scared like that.
My eyes were teary as I looked at her face before the door ladder of the ceiling closed. I felt Diana’s fears through our sibling bond, making the adrenaline in me grow wild as I searched for a safe place for me to hide as well. We couldn’t let the old evil guy have me and Diana! I knew that for their plans to succeed, they needed to capture both my sister and me, and I was determined to prevent that from happening!
Diana would be safe there. Grandma Lena’s spirit would protect her.
But before I could reach the corridors, the old man and his men had already intercepted me. I tried to run as fast as I could, but I realized I was not as fast as my Dad. I couldn’t run as fast as lightning, like him. I was just a boy who was desperate to save his sister. And at that moment, all I wanted to scream for Uncle Liam and Killian to help me. Where were they!? What happened to them?! Did these evil men already kill them?
Where were Mom and Dad?!
“Seize him!”
The second that I felt their violent grasp around my arm, that’s when I knew it was over. I was captured, and there was no way to escape. I bit the hand of one of them, and the next thing I knew, I was already flying and landed on the feet of the old man. My right face was numb at first, and then it was throbbing. Throbbing and aching so bad that my eyes started to blur from the pain.
“Idiot! Who said you can hurt him!” the old man snarled at the Black Claw, who slapped me with the back of his hand and then looked down at me. “We need them alive!”
Beside him was the Phantom Lady, whose eyes were staring down at me, and I couldn’t understand the softness that was in there. Was it because she was happy that I was finally caught? Or could it be—
When his wrinkled, crooked hand was about to reach me, Purple suddenly jumped on him. Purple snarled in anger. He bit the old man’s hand, making the evil guy scream in pain and slap Purple away from him.
“Don’t!” She stopped her father from kicking Purple. “Leave the poor thing alone!”
The old man scoffed, threw an annoyed glare at his daughter, and then violently waved his hand in front of him before screaming. “Take that savage dog away from here!” His voice echoed all over the hallways.
“BENNETTE!”
My eyes widened as soon as I recognized the voice. It was Dad!
“Devon, are you alright?!” Mom yelled with worry on her face.
Before the old man could grab me by the neckline of my shirt, I had already stood and run as fast as my feet could take me. Mom opened her arms wide for me and wrapped me in a tight embrace. I felt her body tremble in both fear and relief.
“Mommy! Diana is—”
“We know.” Mom’s voice was sharp when she answered me, teeth clenched as she glared at the old man. “Stay behind me and your Dad. We will just get rid of the pests that disrespected our home!”
When I saw the rage in Mom’s ocean blue eyes as they lit up with a liquid gold hue, I flinched and immediately knew that I had to keep my distance from her and Dad as they shifted into their wolf forms.
The Phantom Lady didn’t waste a second and attacked first before Mom and Dad could get to the old man. I looked for somewhere where I could hide while Mom and Dad fought the enemies and saw Diana behind one of the balusters.
“Diana!” I exclaimed in surprise as I saw her. “How did Mom and Dad find you?!”
“It’s Purple! They said Purple showed them where I was,” she exclaimed. Her eyes were teary, but she looked glad that I was safe and alive.
From behind the balusters, my twin sister and I watched and noticed that there was something wrong with the Phantom Lady. She looked as if she were fighting herself as she tried to stop Mom and Dad from getting to the old man.
“What is wrong with her? Look! She’s like shaking her head like she’s so confused about what she’s doing!” Diana pointed out as she watched the fight.
“Do you think we should do something about it? Do you think she is getting back to her old self after what we did to her during the fight at the Wolf Tomb?” I asked my sister because I was curious as well. “Do you think we somehow healed her from the curse?”
“We can try again,” Diana suggested. “Maybe if we do that, we can also help Mom and Dad!”
After we agreed to do it again, Diana grabbed my hand, and we closed our eyes as we concentrated to release the powers that we learned from Purple.
We focused our minds on the Phantom Lady and channeled the purification power to her location until she was slowly covered with silver light.
My body was warm. Not the uncomfortable kind, though. Like a pleasant warmth in the middle of the stormy winter. The kind that would make you fall asleep like it was some kind of lullaby.
Not long after, we both heard gasps and someone who was struggling to breathe. Diana and I opened our eyes, but we kept holding hands to ensure the spell continued to work. We watched how the Phantom Lady writhed in pain. Like something inside her was fighting back the purification spell that my sister and I cast on her.
As the purification spell started to get rid of the black veins all over her, making half of her face visible with tears rolling down her cheeks, she reached for my mom, like she was begging for her help.
I couldn’t help but feel scared of what she was planning to do. But I saw pain in her. An agonizing pain that made my stomach twist.
“Samantha!” The Phantom Lady screamed; her voice was scratchy. Screaming Mom’s name felt like torture to her, yet she continued to fight against the curse that was attempting to reclaim her body, and my sister and I did our best to fight back.
My Mom froze when she heard the Phantom Lady’s pleading voice. Even Dad stopped fighting a shadow werewolf because Uncle Liam and Uncle Killian appeared from the other side of the hallway; both were badly injured and limping.
“The twins! You have to get them both away from here!” The Phantom Lady screamed; her lips trembled as well as her body. But her pleading eyes never left Mom’s face. “The sacrificial array will be about to get started any time soon! You have to take them anywhere near my Dad!”
“What the f*ck, Olivia!” The old guy growled as he ordered a giant shadow werewolf to stop the Phantom Lady.
Filled with rage, the old man screamed curses at his daughter and sent more Black Claws and Shadow Werewolves to seize her and kill our mother. He shifted to his Black Wolf form and was about to sink his teeth into his daughter’s back when Dad jumped in and stopped the Black Wolf from killing the Phantom Lady.
Despite her pain, the woman attempted to resist the curse and fought the Shadow werewolf alongside Mom, which baffled everyone, including my Dad. It was something that even my sister and I never expected.
Uncle Killian and Uncle Liam joined the fight, and one by one, the number of the enemies started to dwindle, making the old evil man look terrified as he turned around and saw that there were only a few of them left.
[You can’t escape now, Bennette! You need to surrender and pay for all the crimes you committed here and all the people you killed and made suffer!] Dad roared, his eyes blazing red with anger.
[Olivia! No!]
From behind, a Black Claw jumped on Phantom Lady and slashed her back with its long, poisoned claws. She fell on the floor, and blood started to pool underneath her as Mom rushed to her side.
[Hang in there, Olivia! You can’t die here! You can’t die just like that!] Mom screamed. Her eyes looked terrified as she saw how much blood the woman was losing.
Heavy thunder roared from above the sky, distracting us all. Outside the windows, the heavy dark clouds started to cover the bright full moon. It was so eerie that my sister started to shiver as she pressed herself against me; her eyes were wide with fear as bullets of sweat started to form on her forehead and her face.
I felt it. The dread started to crawl into my chest like a thousand spiders on my skin. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even take away my eyes from the windows.
“It is starting,” The Phantom Lady murmured in the middle of her pain. “The Sacrificial Array is starting.”
