The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 258
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
“Let’s just calm down a little here, okay? It’s not anyone’s fault that we didn’t notice the kids sneak inside the car.” Killian lifted his hand between me and Dominic as my husband and I stared at each other. “There is something more important we have to deal with here. And I mean, let’s finish these shadow werewolves so we can finally get to the place we need to go.”
At that moment, Dominic unleashed his anger at the enemies in front of us, who were stopping us from getting to the Wolf Tomb.
We all witnessed him quickly shift to his wolf form and mercilessly jump to kill each enemy, moving so fast that I could barely keep up with him, even with my wolf eyes. Killian watched as well, petrified at the power Dominic displayed in front of us.
“I hope next time both of you will have second thoughts about pissing off your father,” I said, and then looked down at Devon and Diana, who were watching their father fight with wide eyes.
Devon nervously swallowed hard. I tried to hide my laughter, though, so I looked away from them and looked at Killian, who did the same.
Dominic eliminated all the enemies within ten minutes, making Killian look tense as if he felt the power that was surging in Dominic as the Alpha of the Silver Crescent Pack. The Jade Blade, which Killian used to cure him of the curse, doubled Dominic’s ability and power. And for a second, I had a feeling that there was regret shown on Killian’s face as he watched how Dominic shredded the shadow werewolves to pieces like they were nothing to him.
[What are you waiting for? We can’t stay here now that the enemies know we are heading to them.]
We all heard Domnic’s voice in our heads as he communicated with us through the mind link. His face was stoic, a sign that he was still unhappy about what the twins did, and that made Diana and Devon a little scared when they got out of the trunk of the car.
“It’s okay. There is nothing to worry about here,” Killian smiled at the kids as he patted Devon’s head gently, trying to calm them down. “Your Dad is just a little grumpy. Don’t mind him.”
I wanted to tell Devon and Diana the same, but Dominic was right. We couldn’t tolerate what the twins did. I sighed, though, and Diana looked at me with teary eyes.
“I’m sorry, Mom,” Diana whispered as her lips trembled, threatening to cry, “It’s our wolf that told both me and Devon to go with you. We couldn’t help it. We need to know why our spirit wolves want us to help.”
“There is nothing we can do about it, Diana.” I bent down so our eyes were at the same level, and I held her gently on both of her shoulders. "Perhaps the Moon Goddess has a plan for us regarding everything that is happening right now. Your Dad and I just need to keep you safe. It will be extremely dangerous once we step into the area of the Black Forest.”
“We will be very careful,” Devon said in his brave tone.
“I know.” I smiled at my son and caressed his hair. “I know both of you are strong because you are my babies. I just need you to stay close to me and your dad, no matter what happens. Do you understand?
Devon and Diana nodded gently, with their noses a little red from suppressing their tears.
“Good.” I stood and reached for both of their hands as we decided to continue our way to the forest. “We have to get ready now.”
*****
The way to the Black Forest from the northeast side was different. There were fewer wild beasts, which made it easier for us to travel on foot with the children. Dominic decided not to shift back to his human form and carried me and the kids on his back until we reached the mausoleum, where we expected the Black Claws were camping as they waited for the full moon.
[I can’t believe they cannot detect us from this distance.] Killian whispered to us through the mindlink as he examined the camping site of the enemies. [I know you and your sneaking abilities are extraordinary, but I never thought it was astonishing at this level.]
[Tell that to Devon and Diana.] I chuckled at Killian, and I looked down at the twins.
They smiled back at me awkwardly, showing their teeth; both were looking nervous and scared.
They weren’t scared of me, though. They were both scared of their Dad, who was still grumpy at that moment.
[You have to stay here with the kids, Sam. Dominic and I will try to get inside their camp and hopefully, they won’t detect us. We will see where they incarcerated the child.] Killian said as he kept on studying the place behind a tree.
As much as I wanted to go with them, I wouldn’t be able to because I had to keep the children safe at first. [Alright. I will stay here with the kids. But both of you, please be careful, okay?]
[Stay hidden.] Dominic’s voice was gentle, but there was tension in there that made my stomach tight.
He knew this mission was critical. It was dangerous, and we had no idea how many of them were surrounding this place. Getting inside their camp was suicidal. And to be honest, I didn’t know what was wrong with me or why I was so desperate to save that child.
Perhaps because I am a mother? Every time I remember the terrified face of that child looking at me, I keep asking myself, what if it were Devon, who the enemies captured?
No one could save him but us.
We were risking our lives for the sake of a random child. But there was something in me that whispered to me that we were doing the right thing. The Moon Goddess was putting my husband’s and my hearts to the test.
A test to see if we were deserving enough to receive her mercy as much as we give mercy to the child, and risk everything to get him out of this place.
Dominic stared into my eyes before he and Killian went to the enemy’s camp. I understood the fear in his eyes when he left us hiding behind an old giant tree, and I did my best not to show the fear in me as well because I knew he wouldn’t leave us if he knew I was anxious about this mission we were doing.
“You don’t have to hide in the shadows!”
A familiar voice made the hair on the back of my neck stand in such terror as I had never imagined before. The voice sounded like someone who had woken from the dead. Someone’s voice whom I never expected I would hear again.
[This can’t be!]
My heart dropped when, in front of their camp, shadows slithered, and from them appeared the cursed werewolves with purple eyes glaring in our direction. Dominic and Killian froze in surprise at what happened and crouched as soon as they saw three giant shadow werewolves in front of them.
“So you think you can just go here and take the kid?”
From behind the giant shadow of werewolves stepped an old man wearing an old, dirty cloak, and my eyes just widened. I felt like the sky fell on me when I realized it was someone I never wanted to see again in my whole life.
“Richard Bennette...” I whispered under my breath and thought I was in a nightmare.
The child, who had stared at us with the same terrified eyes the first time we saw him from Lena’s room, stood in front of him. Bennett’s arms were around the neck of the child with a crazy, threatening look in his eyes.
“Do you think, despite your advanced sneak ability, I won’t be able to locate you here in this forest?” He glared at my husband, who stood petrified when he saw that the child was in danger. “I have my eyes everywhere, Dominic! And you know what I want, so give it to me! Now!”
“I can’t believe you are still alive, Richard,” Killian responded to the old man, though, with an annoyed smirk on his face. “Why can’t you just die and give the child to us? And end all this craziness you started?”
It was Bennette’s turn to smirk back at Killian, which made Killian’s face turn grim. “You know why all of this is happening, MoonStone Alpha! If the Silver Crescent Alpha is not too stubborn to hand me his Luna and his twins, then all of these will end peacefully!”
[You have to kill me first before that happens!] I heard my husband in my head as he replied to Bennellet with a powerful roar.
Bennett got scared at what Dominic did, and so he took a knife and pointed it at the child’s neck. The poor kid trembled, and tears started to roll from his eyes, making Devon and Diana frightened for him.
“Mom!” Diana’s voice quivered as she looked at me with a terrified face, the same expression as her brother. “We have to help him!”
“Stay here. And don’t ever step out of this spot. You hear me?” I said to both of them as I looked into their eyes. “Say yes.”
“Yes, Mommy,” Devon and Diana answered with their lips trembling as I put Diana in Devon’s arms.
“Wait for me here...”
I jumped so high from the tree where my kids were hiding and landed on a spot near Killian and Dominic. The replica of the Moonlight Mirror was in my hand as I lifted my face and glared at Richard Bennette, who glared back at me with that disgusting grin on his face.
“You! For the life of this poor little boy!” Richard Bennette yelled at me, his breath forming white smoke in the breeze. “And I expect you have the Moonlight Mirror with you, Samantha!”
“I have it here with me!” I screamed, making Dominic walk backwards until he was in front of me protectively, “Give us the child and you will have me and the Moonlight Mirror!”
I just hope he wouldn’t recognize that the one I brought with me was a fake.
