The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 255
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
We didn’t waste any more time and the three of us headed back into the Pack manor as soon as the Black Claw and the Shadow Werewolves disappeared with the child they took as hostage.
“We have to think of something to save that child!” I snarled at both Dominic and Killian while we were marching on our way to my husband’s office.
I was enraged. I knew I shouldn’t let my emotions control me, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the child and his face when he begged us to save him. His family was killed in front of his eyes. He had no one and he was surrounded by people who wanted to kill and hurt him. How could Dominic and Killian think straight in a situation like that?! How could they stay composed when they knew there was a child who was in grave danger?
Maybe it was ill to think that they didn’t have any care about the child because it wasn’t theirs or not a member of their pack. I hated to think about it that way, but I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t understand why they stopped me from saving that poor kid.
“Stop it, Samantha. I can hear your thoughts everywhere! In every corner of my brain!” Killian fumed as we entered the office, which surprised me about his sudden temper. I had never seen him that angry so often and the way he hissed at me made me a little taken aback.
Even Dominic paused from his steps and glanced at Killian with a frown.
“How can I stop if that child is still out there, terrified and full of despair and we are here doing nothing?!” I hissed back at him, trying not to get fazed by his sudden temper. I didn’t care if my anxieties, worries, and guilt brought chaos to their heads, but it was something that was out of control, and I wouldn’t let him dictate how I should feel about it!
“I know you are worried. But would you rather throw yourself in the den of those deadly wolves and make your children worry about you instead?” Killian snarled at me, baring his teeth.
My first thought was that the curse was attempting to confuse him, similar to how it had affected Dominic before. So I went to him and grabbed him by the shoulders, forcing him to look me in the eyes.
“Hey, Killian, look at me, your idiot! When was the last time you took the potion?!” He tried to push me away, but I refused to let him go, and then I cupped his face between my hands. “Hey! Killian!”
Dominic’s face darkened as he put his hand around my waist and carried me away from Killian, which made my eyes widen in surprise. He gently put me down a few feet away from the MoonStone Alpha and then, to my shock, punched Killian straight in the face.
I got scared because Dominic didn’t
“Dominic! What are you doing?!”
“To wake him the f*ck up!” he glanced at me sharply. He then glared at Killian, who was attempting to rise from the corner of the room, wearing a baffled expression as if he couldn’t comprehend what had happened.
He looked at both of us with wide eyes and then murmured with regret on his face. “Did it happen? Am I starting to lose control over myself already?”
“Yes,” I exhaled in both exasperation and fear. “It is starting, Killian. We must move fast and locate the source. I have already sent my wedding dress to the elders for them to examine the black thread and the talisman that is attached to it. They should have answers about what it really is soon.”
Dominic’s jaw tightened as he looked down at the floor with his thoughts full of worry and then at me. I saw in his eyes how terrified he was, and I didn’t know how to tell him that everything would be alright.
But that rage in his eyes stayed, and that made me a lot more worried.
“I know you still hate the idea, Samantha. But I am afraid you will have to stay here with the twins on the full moon night.” his voice was almost a hiss as he glared at me; his shoulder muscles were tensed, anticipating the anger in me as he said it. “I will take the elite Gamma force, and Liam will stay here to guard you and the pack. You will stay and strengthen our defense while making sure our children are safe.”
Everything he said made sense, though. And no matter how I hated the idea, he had a point. Someone had to defend the pack while he was away. But then I remembered something, as I took one step toward him, trying not to upset him further.
“I know you worry about me and the children, Dominic.” I paused and then stared at him in the eyes, as if trying to read what was going on in his mind, since he had been blocking his thoughts since we entered the tunnel. “But I have to go with you. That’s what the Black Claws wanted to release the boy. And besides, you need me to activate the Moonlight Mirror.”
“What Sam said is true,” Killian agreed as he groaned when he got up from the floor. He stretched his leg and then circled his shoulder as he tilted his head side to side, trying to pop it. “The Black Claws demand both her and the Moonlight Mirror. I don’t think they would be happy knowing she’s not with us.” 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Killian paused and then looked at Dominic, who averted his eyes from me and shook his head. Killian continued with a sigh, “But Dominic is right as well. I just don’t know how you will deal with this. I know it will be dangerous for Sam to go outside the walls if ever another attack happens again without her with the kids.”
“It will be a death trap,” Dominic said in a menacing voice. His eyes glinted red in the dark. “They are trying to lure us all out of Silver Crescent so they can attack my city and take the kids.”
Dominic met my gaze again with a pleading look in his eyes. “I failed to protect you years ago, Samantha. I won’t let you fall into the hands of these evil people.”
I bit my lower lip hard and then sighed. His gaze was so heavy that I had to drop it and contemplate. He was correct. It all sounded like a trap, and if we didn’t make a smart decision about this, we might lose everything.
We might lose the kids.
Killian leaned his back against the wall, though, while he observed me and Dominic after my husband and I both fell into silence. “I have something in mind, though. I am just not sure if you will like the idea.”
“Say it. I want to hear it.” I asked Killian with despair in my eyes. I couldn’t think of any idea anymore. I guess my emotions exhausted me, and we couldn’t waste any more time.
“We can take Sam with us,” his eyes were on Dominic as he continued, trying to see if my husband would get any violent reaction about it, but surprisingly, he let Killian finish. “She can take a fake Moonlight Mirror to the Black Claws while we, I mean me, and Dominic would hide behind the bushes around with the help of his advanced sneaking ability, and then we attack when they put their guard down.”
Dominic’s eyebrow rose in disagreement, “No way we can do that! What if they find out immediately that the Moonlight Mirror is fake?! My wife’s life will be in danger! I can’t f*cking risk that!”
“It’s fine, Dominic. I can handle myself. I can do it.” I frown at him. “It’s the only way we can save that child, and we have to do it fast so we can go back to Silver Crescent in time!”
He glared at me. His jaw stiffened, and it was enough to make the emotions I was suppressing explode.
“I am not that wolfless, helpless girl from before, Dominic! I can protect myself now! I can fight! Why can’t you just trust me with it?”
Dominic was about to cross the room to get to me when the door suddenly opened and we both saw Diana and Devon, looking both anxious and worried after they both witnessed that I and their Dad were fighting again. Guilt spilled in my chest as I whispered their names, and then I sighed to calm my nerves.
“Diana, Devon, what are you both doing here? You are supposed to stay in your room! Where is Madison?”
“She’s somewhere baking, I guess?” Diana was the one to answer me, despite her eyes looking scared. I hated that I made my children anxious and worried because of Dominic’s and my misunderstandings, which were starting to grow often.
“But we brought you something.” Devon held a bottle, which made my brows raise in surprise. “We brought you the Moongrass powder, Mom. I am sorry, but Diana and I overheard that you are going outside the walls and would save some kid. The Moongrass powder can repel dark spirits inside the forest. This thing should keep all of you safe.”
My heart, which was raging with anger, started to cool down and melt as I stared at the faces of my children. Despite their age, they did everything they could to help us and keep us safe in every little way.
A soft smile tugged on my lips. I bent down so my face could level with Diana and Devon as I put each of my hands on top of their heads with such gentleness that it made them smile.
“Thank you,” I whispered to them as I took the bottle from Devon’s hand and kissed his cheek. "Thank you for always worrying about me, your dad, and your uncle Killian." We will do everything to make you and the pack safe.”
“We love you, Mom, Dad.” Diana uttered with her lips trembling and her eyes teary, “It hurts us to see both of you fight each other.”
It felt as if a knife pierced my heart, and I turned to look at my husband, who was looking at me and the kids with pain in his eyes. Our eyes met for seconds until mine went teary.
I returned my gaze to my kids and then embraced them tightly. After a few seconds, I felt my husband’s hand on my shoulder, squeezing it gently as he whispered. “We will do this together. I will always be with you no matter what.”
