Chapter 366: Chapter 287: Where Did the Rat Come From

The sun sets in the west, and the fire in the forge area gradually dies down.

Corbin Crowley returns to the shed with three plump snow hares, leaves still clinging to his dark hair.

"Let’s make spicy rabbit stew tonight. It’s aromatic and spicy, quite a kick to it."

He tosses the rabbits to Rhys Blackwood to handle, casually ruffling the head of Kael, who is busy gnawing on iron scraps.

The little wolf cub lets out an "Ow!" and scuttles behind Kael Shadowend with a piece of metal in its mouth.

During dinner, Luna Sutton is stir-frying the spicy rabbit meat in a newly crafted iron pot, aromatic, numbing, and spicy.

The aroma makes Kian Sterling, who has just entered, cough non-stop.

He can tell it’s spicy rabbit meat, and it’s even more fragrant than what the ceramic pot used to produce, making his beautiful fox eyes gleam a little.

Not only does Corbin love this dish, he’s quite fond of it too.

It’s aromatic, numbing, and spicy, and paired with fragrant rice, it’s simply delicious.

He leans closer to the pot, smiling at Luna Sutton who is cooking, "Iron pots indeed cook better, the food is much more aromatic."

"Iron pots heat up faster than ceramic ones, naturally making the food tastier."

Luna Sutton explains with a smile while stir-frying the spicy rabbit meat in the pot.

After speaking, she glanced behind Kian Sterling, not seeing Soren Phoenix return, curious she asks, "Where’s Soren? Why hasn’t he come back yet?"

Kian Sterling discreetly flicks the dust off his tail.

In response, he chuckles lightly, "He found the smell of the latrine too overwhelming, so he went by the lake to bathe with flower petals. Said he stinks and has to wash three times before coming back."

Luna Sutton pauses with the spatula, coughing from the chili’s spiciness, speechless, "The latrine was just dug out and hasn’t even been used yet, where’s the smell coming from?"

Thinking she’s being pretentious.

Bathing with flower petals, even fussier than a woman.

Could it be he’s as germaphobic as Zeke Veridian?

Just after serving the rabbit meat into a ceramic basin, she hears Soren Phoenix outside the cave making exaggerated gagging noises.

That pretentious phoenix wraps himself in a loose red feather robe, with wet hair still dripping, and as soon as he enters he rolls onto the fur mat, "Luna~ I’m dirty!"

Upon hearing this, she almost bursts into laughter, placing the spicy rabbit heads in a ceramic basin on the table, looking with a half-smile at the sulking Soren Phoenix, "Dirty? How so? Did some female contaminate you?"

Soren sits up sharply like a carp flipping, wet red hair clinging to his collarbone, his peach blossom eyes shimmering with tears, "More terrifying than being contaminated by a female!"

He raises his long finger, "I smell earthy scent in my nail crevices!"

Zeke Veridian’s tall figure walks in, green eyes instantly landing on Soren Phoenix’s exaggerated face, mocking coldly, "Can’t handle a bit of hardship? Why not hurry back to The Phoenix Clan and be your Young Master, then you won’t have to do any of this work."

Soren Phoenix ruffles up at the words, jumping up from the fur mat, "Don’t talk nonsensical! Got the guts to try digging a latrine tomorrow yourself?"

"That’s your job, why should I dig?"

Zeke Veridian lifts his eyelids indifferently, mocking coldly, "Or do you think I’m foolish enough to fall for your provocation and dig a latrine for you?"

Luna Sutton serves the last dish of herb-roasted deer meat on the table, tapping the edge of the ceramic basin, "Keep arguing, and you’ll all go handle the manure."

Soren Phoenix instantly falls silent, meekly scooting to her side, his fingertips hooking her clothes and shaking lightly, "Luna~"

"Sit properly."

She swats away the restless hand, turning to the men, "Why are you all dazing around? Set the table and eat."

The Beast Husbands each place bowls and chopsticks on the table to eat.

Sitting to the side, Kael, Kael Shadowend, Frey, and the eight snake cubs each have a ceramic bowl of their own, filled with rice and meat, eating with relish, their heads too immersed to lift.

Caleb Manning holding a bowl of rice settles down, hears what seems to be someone gossiping about him near the shed door.

His golden eyes glint, picking a piece of spicy rabbit meat into his bowl, eating methodically but subtly pricking up his ears to listen.

Shed door.

Caelan Phoenix holds a large ceramic bowl, sitting with crossed legs on a wooden stake, unable to resist poking Jago’s arm with chopsticks, "See? Being young and good-looking has its perks."

He gestures toward Caleb Manning with his lips, "Even the Guardian can sit at the table with the host to eat."

Jago crouches beside, eating rice in silence, his bronzed skin gleaming under the bonfire’s light.

Hearing this, he merely lifts his eyelids to glance at Caleb Manning.

Caleb is eating, head down, his cold profile making his features stand out sharply in the firelight.

There is a flash of envy in his eyes, but he says nothing.

Just withdraws his gaze and continues eating.

"Learn from him."

Caelan Phoenix lowers his voice, his feather robe brushing against Jago, "Your face is pretty handsome too, yet you crouch at the door to eat, feeling a foot shorter than others."
