Chapter 304: Chapter 253: Trouble (Part 2)

After hearing the voice in her mind, Luna’s mouth twitched.

The tasks issued by this darn system were getting more and more bizarre.

Winning Soren’s love?

That pompous peacock, show-off, turkey, she couldn’t dodge fast enough to avoid that maniac who wanted to devote himself at first sight.

Just thinking about the sight of Soren’s face laughing so exaggeratedly made her scalp tingle.

But then again, Soren did have quite the good looks, handsome, with honeyed words that could easily make any woman’s heart flutter.

Could such a flirt like Soren, who displayed himself like a peacock whenever he saw a female, be reliable?

"System, are you serious?"

She gritted her teeth and asked in her mind.

The system responded slyly, "Host, Soren is the Young Lord Fawkes of The Phoenix Clan. If he stands by your side and, like Mael Valerius, falls madly in love with you, no matter how furious the old man Xylon Phoenix gets, he couldn’t possibly kill his son. In the end, he would have to grudgingly accept it. If Soren falls in love with you, he will definitely fight against his father for you, leaving you without needing to lift a finger against all those rubbish about sisterhood, the Great Witch, and offerings."

She rolled her eyes internally, thinking, "Never mind if Soren is reliable, but the problem is I’ve killed his sister, Celestia Fawkes died by my hand. He probably can’t wait to kill me, how could he ever fall in love with me?"

The system quickly responded, "Don’t worry, Host. Soren and Celestia aren’t from the same mother. Celestia was the result of Xylon’s extramarital affair. Soren’s matron was angered to death by that adulterous couple. The Dragon Clan didn’t know and thought Soren’s matron died from illness due to a weak constitution, not knowing she died from anger caused by Xylon. Although Soren bears no grudge against Celestia, he has no affection for this illegitimate sister and even dislikes her ways. Coupled with inner resentment towards Xylon, he clearly has strong opinions."

The system continued, "That’s why Soren behaves so irreverently, dressing like a peacock, flirting everywhere—that’s just to spite Xylon. In truth, he is very picky and with high standards, and no ordinary female catches his eye. Those rumors up in Aetheria are mere play-acting, not genuine."

Luna was taken aback by these words, it was indeed unexpected.

While she was pondering this, a sharp phoenix cry suddenly echoed from afar.

Looking up.

A fiery red silhouette descended from the sky, and amidst fluttering feather robes, Soren’s bewitchingly handsome face appeared in everyone’s sight.

"Yo, what’s going on here?"

As Soren landed, his peach blossom eyes lifted slightly, glancing over everyone present. He momentarily paused when he saw Caelan Phoenix and Lian Phoenix, "You two are..."

He was unaware that The Phoenix Clan had been defeated and had already retreated, or that Celestia and the Great Witch had perished.

Taking advantage of the old man being absent, he had stealthily slipped out of the shrine and made his way over, thus knowing nothing about the events that had transpired here.

Those retreating elders and elite warriors of The Phoenix Clan were also on their way back.

The two sides happened not to encounter each other.

Caelan and Lian, caught by Soren’s gaze, looked a bit awkward but still nodded in greeting, "We’ve met, Young Lord."

Soren found it strange; weren’t these two old geezers supposed to be attacking The Wolf Tribe with that old witch, Ignatius Phoenix?

How could it seem to be a completely different story?

Suppressing his doubts, he finally fixed his gaze on Luna, a hint of amazement flashing in his eyes, "We meet again, little one."

Corbin Crowley instantly stood in front of Luna, his dark gold eyes narrowing dangerously, "Stay away from Luna, flamboyant phoenix."

Soren was unfazed, instead taking a few steps closer, suddenly dropping to one knee and taking Luna’s hand, his peach blossom eyes brimming with affection, "Since our last hurried parting, I think of you day and night..."

Luna’s mouth twitched fiercely, "Your sister is dead."

Soren’s smile froze on his face.

The entire camp instantly fell silent.

Soren slowly stood, the frivolity in his peach blossom eyes replaced by coldness, "What did you say?"

She met his eyes, "Celestia is dead. Just now, I had her killed."

Her heart pounded like a drum, yet she forced herself to remain calm.

The system had mentioned the feud between Soren and Celestia, but this was ultimately a gamble.

Still, it wouldn’t remain a secret for long; Soren would find out sooner or later.

Soren’s pupils contracted, the fiery robe billowing despite the calm, Phoenix True Fire igniting in his palm, raising the temperature around him.

He stared hard into her eyes, his voice cold as ice, "Say that again?"

Mael Valerius’ dark gold vertical pupils squinted dangerously, "Are you deaf? Luna said..."

"I’ll say it myself."

Luna pressed down on Mael Valerius’ hand, eyes locked on Soren, "Celestia led an attack to slaughter The Wolf Tribe but was counter-killed by me."

Her fingertips trembled slightly, yet she stood tall.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Caelan Phoenix and Lian Phoenix surreptitiously edging closer, ready to protect Soren at any moment.

Corbin Crowley, Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus also surrounded them.

In the suffocating silence.

Soren suddenly chuckled softly, "Dead is dead. For the sake of our sibling bond, I don’t mind personally digging a pit to bury her."

This reaction stunned everyone, completely unexpected.

Soren leisurely patted nonexistent dust off his feather robe, derision filling his peach blossom eyes, "That bastard deserved to die long ago."

Luna’s eyes widened, this reaction... was exactly as the troublesome system had described?

Soren suddenly leaned close, lifting her chin with a finger, "Little one, you’ve helped me with a huge problem, how should the Young Lord reward you?"

Mael Valerius slapped his hand away, "Flamboyant show-off, stay away from Luna!"

"Mind your own business."

Soren rolled his eyes, then turned to Luna, a charming smile playing on his lips, "Why don’t I repay with my body?"

Luna’s mouth twitched, this peacock changed his face faster than turning a page.

Corbin Crowley’s silver eyes were filled with ice, "Young Lord Fawkes, your sister just died, and you’re flirting with my partner here?"

"That bastard sister of mine?"

Soren sneered, suddenly lowering his voice, "The old man cherishes that bastard the most. If he finds out she’s dead, he might fly into a rage and personally lead troops here. Are you afraid?"

"What if I am, and what if I’m not."

Luna couldn’t help but counter.

Soren blinked, "Give me a kiss, and I’ll help you sort this mess out."
