The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 172 - 170: Assassination
The Beast King City, the night was as dark as ink.
Nolan Sterling stood on the palace’s high terrace, his expression heavy as he squinted at a particular spot, lost in thought.
The silvery moonlight spilled over him, casting a long silhouette, with nine fox tails gently swaying behind him, lazy and enchanting, with a hint of allure.
"Come here."
He called out softly, his voice cold as an icy pool.
A shadow silently appeared behind him.
Kneeling on one knee, he respectfully said, "Your Highness."
Nolan Sterling’s gaze directed towards the distance, as if piercing through the layers of night, straight to Cragfall.
He slowly spoke, "Go to Cragfall and investigate the whereabouts of the Nine-Tailed White Fox. If it is truly Kian Sterling... eliminate him on the spot, leave no survivors."
Oh, dear third brother, since you miraculously survived, don’t blame your big brother for being ruthless.
The position of Beast King can only be mine.
The shadow’s pupils shrank, quickly lowering his head, and respectfully replied, "Yes, Your Highness."
"Remember to keep it clean!"
Nolan Sterling’s lips curled into a cold smile, as he added, "While you’re at it, see if there are any secrets at Cragfall, and report back."
Cragfall has always been an unclaimed land; when did it become the forbidden territory of The Wolf Tribe?
There must be some secrets hidden within, or perhaps some important resources have been discovered.
"Yes, Your Highness."
The shadow responded respectfully once more.
Then he quietly retreated, disappearing into the night in the blink of an eye.
After the shadow disappeared.
Nolan Sterling stood in place for a long time, starting to wander aimlessly around the palace.
He paused slightly as he passed by the Beast King Hall, involuntarily stopping.
Seeing no one around, he could not resist pushing the door open and entering.
The inside of the Beast King Hall was dimly lit, silent, with only a few strands of moonlight streaming through the windows, casting his tall figure on the ground.
He walked slowly towards the throne, lightly brushing his fingertips over the cold Beast King throne, his eyes flickering with greed and reluctance.
"Father, you have grown old after all."
He murmured softly to himself, his ambition laid bare.
His fox ears twitched, suddenly sensing someone approaching.
Nolan Sterling’s expression changed slightly, quickly slipping out of the Beast King Hall, afraid of being noticed.
As soon as he exited, he bumped into the hurriedly approaching Chloe Callahan.
Chloe Callahan saw his flustered expression and suspiciously asked, "Your Highness, what are you doing?"
Nolan Sterling cleared his throat, reverting to his usual lazy demeanor, his fox eyes narrowing slightly, "Nothing, just taking a walk. Why are you in such a hurry, is there anything the matter?"
Chloe Callahan withdrew her gaze, promptly saying, "The banquet is about to start. I heard from the female slave that Your Highness was on the terrace, so I came to look for you."
Nolan Sterling nodded lazily, "Oh? A banquet? I forgot. But..."
He deliberately prolonged his tone, his gaze sweeping over Chloe Callahan, "Your outfit is rather unique and suits you very well."
He had never seen such an outfit, finding it novel and interesting.
Chloe Callahan blushed, looking down at her newly changed plain long dress, which resembled a modern evening gown in style.
She had rushed it based on memories from her past life, although the color was too plain.
Although Beast King City was more advanced and prosperous than The Winged Tiger Tribe, with items like ceramics and linen,
But there were no dyes; all the fabrics were plain, and the craftsmanship was very rough.
But compared to other places in the beast world, it was much more civilized.
For now, she could only dress this way.
She pulled back her thoughts, displaying a perfectly humble smile: "Your Highness flatters me; I just casually altered it, found it looked nice, so I wore it."
Nolan Sterling’s lips curved slightly, a hint of admiration flashing in his fox eyes: "Just casually altered it? Interesting."
He gently lifted Chloe Callahan’s chin, his tone ambiguous: "However, your outfit might steal the spotlight from tonight’s main attraction."
Chloe Callahan didn’t know who the main attraction was tonight, humbly saying, "Your Highness jests, I am merely a background, how dare I steal the spotlight?"
Nolan Sterling chuckled lightly, retracting his hand languidly, "Let’s go, the banquet has started, let’s not keep the Father waiting."
Chloe Callahan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, then followed Nolan Sterling to the banquet.
Thinking that although the evening gown was plain in color, it was enough to amaze these country bumpkins of the beast world.
......
The night deepened, beside The Salt Lake.
Luna Sutton leaned against a large tree, munching on a sweet stick, juice dripping through her fingers.
Kian Sterling suddenly leaned in close, white fur cloak brushing against her hand: "Luna, even eating you have to be so enticing?"
She rolled her eyes, about to retort.
The whimpering of cubs came from afar.
Corbin Crowley strode over, carrying a little tiger whose fur was all bristled, his movements rough, silver eyes flashing with impatience: "This little thing, whining incessantly after just a fall, how annoying."
But in his heart, he thought, the cub form of Caleb Manning was so weak, not even enough for him to pinch with one finger.
