The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 143
Princess Eleanor was silent but soon she asked in a soft tone, "So he agreed?"
"He had to," Sir Kit said, "But there was a demand added in the deal. The Royal family could never use the Beaumont’s house name without their permission. And if they ever do it, the pack that they are signing will be void."
"And did it get void?" Princess Eleanor could not help but ask. Her tone was small but her eyes were wide.
Sir Kit couldn’t help but laugh looking at Princess Eleanor, "In a sense, The Grand Duke realized that the Royal family were helping some of the people in different Kingdom to gain powers."
"The Grand duke? As in Duke Christopher?" Princess Eleanor was curious. She could sense that now Sir Kit was getting at the point. He was about to tell her what was happening in reality.
"Yes, but they were not using the name but the symbol of House Beaumont." Sir Kit smiled as he looked at Princess Eleanor, "Similar to the badge that the escort wore."
"Like the badge you have." Princess Eleanor’s voice was fulfilled with excitement. She was happy to know that she was lucky to realize the change in symbol there. "The symbol on the seal and the badge are different. Although the dragon is the same but its positioning.."
"Correct," Sir Kit nodded his head. "It was that time that the Grand Duke got no information that someone from the Royal kingdom was about to enter the Angevin Kingdom so he asked the King and Queen for their permission to enter and investigate. After all, he did not want to be blamed as a man who initiated it all." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"So you’re telling me that my parents knew that something was about to happen before we set on the journey?" Princess Eleanor asked in a trembling tone. She could not accept it. How can her parents travel with her and her brother when they know that they will be attached?
"No," Sir Kit’s voice broke the stiff air that was surrounding them. "Actually they wanted to keep the Princess safe. They were traveling to a safer position but who would have imagined that ..."
Sir Kit did not complete the sentence but the meaning behind it was obvious. They were attacked.
"You said that they were helping people?" Princess Eleanor asked after a few minutes of silence, "Have you found out who was in contact with them from the Angevin Kingdom."
Princess Eleanor could not blame the man. The Grand Duke was the one who was trying to help them. It was unfortunate that they were caught in unusual things but the thing cannot be denied. He is still there.
’Should I talk with the Grand Duke directly? Will he answer me?’ Princess Eleanor’s mind was revolving around the question as she bit her lips nervously.
"I think the Princess knows who they were helping." Sir Kit said in a dull voice. His eyes looked straight at Princess Eleanor hoping that she knew the answer. "The one who is in power now."
Princess Eleanor’s heartbeats stopped. Her tone was shivering as she swallowed hard. "You mean that it was my Uncle and Aunt who killed my family?"
"Why are you so shocked, Princess?" Sir Kit narrowed his gaze, "I thought you already knew it."
"I had my doubts but they are still doubts unless they are confirmed by someone." Princess Eleanor said in a small tone. "But now I think there is no chance of doubts."
Princess Eleanor’s eyes looked down at the documents in her hand. Her eyes were silent at night. But soon she looked up at Sir Kit. A thought came into her mind as she stared at him with an eager gaze.
"Princess?" Sir Kit looked at Princess Eleanor. He could sense that she had something to ask. The way she was looking made it easier for him to read her thoughts. After all, Princess Eleanor did not know how to hide her expression. She was an open book or at least she was like that in front of him.
Sir Kit had a bad feeling. He knew from past experience that whenever Princess Eleanor looked at him in this way, she had something to say. Something that might not be easy to answer.
"How do you know about it?" Princess Eleanor asked as she leaned forward. Her eyes stayed focused on Sir Kit observing his every expression. She was determined to catch all the expressions that he was making. She did not want to lose any one of them. "It should be related to the Grand Duke. How do you know all of it? From the placement of the books to the history of the Beaumont household. You even know the content of the documents, why?"
Sir Kit blinked his eyes innocently as if he could not understand why princess Eleanor was asking such questions, "The Princess did not ask me things when he wanted the Grand Duke to make an effort and get permission to bring you here. The Princess should have asked me why the Grand Duke accepted my request and brought you to the Beaumont house and decided to treat you."
Princess Eleanor was silent. She had not asked such a question before. Princess Eleanor knew that she trusted Sir Kit when it came to such things. She only wanted the work to be done and at that moment she did not care how that was to be done.
"That..." Princess Eleanor bit her lips nervously. She felt guilty to ask the question now.
"But I will answer the Princess. The Grand Duke trusts me. I have known everything regarding him, thus I thought that it was necessary to clear his name. Duke Christopher had never harmed you and your family. It was a misfortune that he was there on the same day that you were attacked." Sir Kit’s voice was firm as if no matter who told him what, he would not listen.
"So was it him that helped me that day?" Princess Eleanor murmured under her breath.
