Chapter 572: Her decision

The path felt endless, Cedric started with steady steps to the gazebo until he ran out of patience, his feet started moving fast and he ran

His heart slowed down with his speed reducing as he approached the crystal gazebo. Flowers lined the way; it stood in the middle of the lake and in the centre was a table.

Her ginger hair flowed down covering the seat, her back was against him as she calmly watched the lake in front of her. "Abrielle..." He called out, her shoulders froze and she refused to look at him.

Guilt and fear. She didn’t understand much, aside from when she died, she found herself in an enchanting palace. The servants called it Cassius’s home

This was the land of the gods but what she didn’t understand at first was why her soul looked like Abrielle and not Hazel.

She had not gotten the chance to speak to any of the high gods about what she vaguely knew Cedric was facing judgment.

Abrielle clutched her dress. If he were here, it must mean something positive, but she was already dead. "Congratulations on winning." She finally said.

Cedric paused for a moment; his voice was steady but filled with emotion. "Why can’t you face me?" He asked.

"Are you upset I killed you? I’m sorry, Abrielle. I will never forgive myself." He pleaded. She shook her head, still refusing.

"I don’t blame you. I am the one who is sorry. It’s all my fault." She cried out. Cedric’s rushing steps followed. He ran towards her then knelt at her feet before hugging her waist.

He started trembling, and her heart squeezed. She knew he was crying. She hesitantly touched his

hair and then rested her head on him. Her tears started running..

His heart ached, he thought she had made her choice. She was going to choose her other life. "Please, I’m sorry, I know I can’t beg for forgiveness, but please...." His words broke.

"I’m Sorry, Cedric, but it’s all my fault." She cried out covering her face with her palms as her tears rolled down profusely. Cedric halted the glance at her.

He always hated it when she cried; his thumb smoothed her cheeks. His tone was gentle. Abrielle slowly met his tender gaze, he was reminded of her last words. She loved him, so why was she leaving?

"It’s not your fault." He said. She backed away from his hold, shaking her head. "It is Cedric. I wrote that book everything that happened to you is all because of me." Cedric paused taking a moment to understand her

Abrielle misunderstood and then continued. "I am not the real Abrielle. I am Hazel, the author of that dreadful book. I don’t belong here...." She rambled out, her throat choked when she saw him smiling at her.

He stood up, his smile still there. "You belong here Abrielle, you always did." He asked. She was puzzled whether he was in denial.

"I don’t. I wasn’t meant to fall in love with you. My mission was to kill you, Cedric, to survive. I am not her, I am Hazel, don’t you get it?" She cried out hysterically.

She was yanked off her seat and pulled into his arms. His hold was comforting, he didn’t say anything and just let her calm down. "It’s fine, Abrielle or Hazel, it doesn’t matter because you are the same." He said calmly. She sniffed clutching his shirt.

Cedric could already deduce the situation. Abrielle was still in the dark. He wondered if her dominant soul was the half taken away because that seemed to be the one in control, but her soul retained Abrielle’s appearance.

"Listen to me, Abrielle," he cooed to her, and she nodded. "Abrielle and Hazel are the same people. You are one soul that was separated at birth but united, that’s why your book, although it is similar to this world, isn’t exactly..." She froze, then slowly gazed up.

"What do you mean? " She asked, Cedric smiled then patiently started to explain everything. "The book, the priestess, and the dragons were I, the villain, obsessed with Callista, and you were the unfortunate villainess. That was meant to be your original fate." He said

She fell into deep thoughts, "It was my first book, I wrote it based on dreams..." She mumbled, remembering the dreams of the strange world.

Cedric explained everything that happened at the courthouse and it left her dumbfounded. She was an author who had written a lot of stories, but she never imagined that her life would be so twisted. It was beyond absurd.

The dreams she had were warning, and all this while she had been played by Maledicta."I need a moment to process everything." She mumbled, feeling a sudden headache coming.

"Why did she go that far?" She asked Cedric, the man who was supposedly her soulmate. Cedric held her hand, "Anger, hatred, resentment. She wanted us who had what she didn’t to be miserable just to boost her ego." Cedric explained in his words

Abrielle sniffed and then wiped her tears. "All these while I have been feeling guilty, that I was the reason your life was this way...you ended up killing the woman you loved." She paused, then watched his reaction.

"This was all fate..." She added, then he nodded, "A cruel one, but I am glad about something..." He said

She narrowed her eyes trying to figure out what was going on in his head. "What?"

"I didn’t make the mistake fate originally planned, I didn’t get obsessed over another woman, but I still killed you, but at least this time I learnt what love meant." His words touched her.

"Cedric," his name slipped out.

"I know you have another life and you might want to go. I am okay with it." He said, his smile was heartbreaking. "All I will just have to do is die and find you in that time."

Abrielle was baffled at his reasoning. "What makes you certain you will find me? It is a large world, and by the time you are born, I might have grown old."

His thumb rubbed the back of his palm. "We are soul mates, we would always find each other..." He took a deep breath before he asked.

"So what is your decision? Will you stay to be my queen or leave?"
