Chapter 188

Over the course of several days, Song Luokui's bedside was never empty. When it wasn't Song Luosheng chattering away with her, it was Chi Yu reading her the news, books, and occasionally even cold jokes.

Song Moqian, Sheng Rong, and others had all paid visits. Lou Sasa and her friends had come by, as had Xu Jiarong. When Xu Jiarong had attended the engagement ceremony, she had finally witnessed what it truly meant to be a young lady from a super-elite family, and she had been utterly shocked to see various figures from high society.

To her surprise, all sorts of important people had appeared in the news as well. It turned out that Song Luokui's parents and Senior Chi's parents were actually famous figures. They had no idea about this at school; everyone just knew that Senior Song and Senior Chi came from extraordinary families, but they hadn't realized just how extraordinary.

It was beyond extraordinary, in fact.

However, she hadn't expected the unexpected incident that occurred midway through. At first, she had been somewhat worried, but she soon learned of the major event from the news.

Then Song Luokui was hospitalized due to an injury. So much had happened in such a short time that Xu Jiarong mused that being a young lady from a super-elite family wasn't as easy as it seemed.

In the evening, Chi Yu was alone in the hospital room. He took some warm water and carefully wiped Song Luokui's body, meticulously cleaning her face, hands, and feet...

After finishing, Chi Yu held her hand, their fingers intertwined. He adjusted her hair and kissed her cheek. "Baby, wake up soon."

Song Luokui's eyelids fluttered, but Chi Yu didn't notice. He kissed her hand again before taking the water to dispose of it in the bathroom.

By now, Song Luokui had been in a coma for a month. The doctors said that the longer she remained unconscious, the harder it would be for her to wake up.

After emptying the water in the bathroom, Chi Yu brought in some clothes. He planned to sleep here tonight, so he would take a shower first.

There were still large scars on his knees and hands, looking somewhat frightening. As warm water cascaded over him from head to toe, Chi Yu wiped his face and reached for the shampoo to lather up...

When he finished showering and stepped out, he suddenly noticed that the person lying on the bed was gone. Chi Yu thought his eyes were playing tricks on him and rubbed them, hearing a noise from the side. Just as he turned, there was a "bang" and his head was struck, leaving him bleeding.

Chi Yu shook his head, his vision blurry, but he could still see the now-awake Song Luokui standing there in her striped hospital gown, barefoot, holding a teapot and staring at him with a cold expression.

With a thud, Chi Yu immediately collapsed. Song Luokui blinked, her eyes rolled back, and she fell on top of Chi Yu. It wasn't until the staff came to check on them that they were discovered.

This incident jolted everyone awake.

The original luxurious private room had two beds: a hospital bed and a companion bed. Now, both had become hospital beds.

When Chi Yu regained consciousness and saw the crowd gathered in the room, he felt bewildered. He thought he had seen Kuikui wake up. He sat up abruptly, but due to his head injury, his vision suddenly went dark. It took a while for him to recover.

Yan Sui said, "Don't rush. What happened earlier? The doctor said you and Kuikui were both found collapsed on the floor?"

Chi Yu walked to Song Luokui's bedside and grabbed her hand. "She woke up. She really woke up." Chi Yu was extremely excited.

Song Luosheng grabbed him. "What exactly happened? How did my sister end up on the floor with you? Did someone attack you or what?"

Chi Yu organized his thoughts and shook his head. "No. She woke up. She... I had just come out of the bathroom when she hit me with a teapot..."

The doctor, listening to the account, said, "The patient may have woken up due to stimulation but fainted again because of further shock. Her attack might have been a result of dreaming or a strong stress response upon waking."

"You should continue to talk to her frequently in the coming days."

"Alright, thank you, doctor." Sheng Rong saw the doctor out, and they discussed the next steps among themselves.

Chi Yu, however, kept thinking about the situation. Why had his sweetheart looked at him so unfamiliarly?

As it was late, everyone eventually left to rest, as they all had many matters to attend to. Since Chi Yu was also injured, Song Luosheng stayed behind.

Song Luosheng and Chi Yu ended up lying on the same bed to rest. Neither had ever imagined they'd one day be sharing a bed.

Song Luosheng asked, "Kuikui really woke up, didn't she?"

Chi Yu replied, "Yes, I promise."

Song Luosheng said, "Then she'll definitely wake up again."

Chi Yu agreed, "She will wake up."

Both firmly believed this. Soon after, they closed their eyes, though it was uncertain if they actually fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Song Luokui was viciously beating something, which kept begging for mercy. "Stop hitting me, please stop!"

Song Luokui, her face contorted with rage, shouted, "I'm hitting you and I'll keep hitting you! Die!"

"Ahhh!"

"Ahhh!"

Screams of agony echoed through the boundless room!

The next morning, Chi Yu and Song Luosheng woke up simultaneously, their bodies jerking awake. As soon as they opened their eyes, they both looked towards the other bed. The person was gone!

"Where's Kuikui?!" Song Luosheng immediately flipped off the bed, walked to the opposite bed, and started feeling around. He even lifted the bed to check underneath.

Chi Yu quickly checked the bathroom and toilet. "Kuikui?" His head was still wrapped in bandages.

"Kuikui?"

"Kuikui?"

They called out. Just as Song Luosheng was about to run out to search, Chi Yu suddenly spotted someone on the balcony. "Kuikui's here! Kuikui?"

On the balcony stood Song Luokui. Sunlight illuminated her face, making even the fine hairs on her skin visible. She said nothing, just standing there with her hand stretched out towards the sun, as if about to ascend...

Chi Yu, heart pounding, rushed over and embraced her. "Don't go!"

Song Luokui suddenly turned to look at him. Her eyes no longer held yesterday's coldness. She stared at him for a long while before finally placing her hand on his face. "Is this real?"

Chi Yu grabbed her hand and pressed it to his cheek. "It's real, it's real."

Song Luokui suddenly smiled, tears streaming down her face. "I dreamed that someone kept me trapped in a room and tried to beat me to death, but in the end, I killed them instead."

"The room was very dark, and I was so scared, I..." Song Luokui's legs suddenly gave way, as if overcome by exhaustion. Chi Yu immediately scooped her up in his arms, carried her into the room, and gently laid her on the hospital bed. "Don't be afraid," he reassured her. "You're safe now. If anyone tries to bully you, I'll protect you."

Chi Yu then turned to Song Luosheng, who stood frozen in shock. "Hurry, call a doctor!" he commanded.

"Oh, right, right!" Song Luosheng snapped back to reality. He spun around and dashed out of the room, nearly slipping in his haste. "Doctor! Doctor!" he shouted as he ran. "My sister's woken up!"
