The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 57: Where You Go, I Go
Orion’s eyes went wide. He exclaimed in shock, "Thorne’s Beast Crystal? You actually got it from the bottom of Thorncliff...?"
Thorne gazed at her beautiful, smiling face, a pang of pain welling up in his heart. He pressed his lips together tightly. After a long moment, he finally reached out, but not for the Beast Crystal. Instead, his long, slender fingertips gently wiped the wild fruit juice from the corner of her lips.
His face was pale, his voice low and hoarse. "Were you scared?"
Evangeline sensed the gentleness in his touch, and her eyes brightened. She nuzzled her cheek against his calloused palm and shook her head. "I wasn’t scared! I told you I’d get it back for you."
She tilted her head, still smiling brightly. "You’ll be fully recovered soon!"
Thorne gazed at her, the pain in his heart surging into his throat until he could barely speak.
’It didn’t even hurt this much when they dug out my Beast Crystal.’
"Little brother, you should thank... Flora. If it weren’t for her..." Elias Moretti’s voice drifted over. Evangeline, whose cheek was still pressed against Thorne’s palm, felt her eyes flicker as a cold light flashed in their depths.
"If it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have entered the Monitor Tribe’s territory so easily. All right, it’s about time. Good thing you brought people with you. Take all the females from the Grymdale Tribe and get them home."
Hearing this, both Thorne and Orion froze for a moment and looked at Evangeline. She nodded. "Take everyone back first," she said. "We can discuss everything else once we’re back in Grymdale. And one more thing—don’t harm these Monitor Clansmen."
At her words, Thorne and Orion exchanged a look but said nothing more.
The group split up, and they soon found all the females from the Grymdale Tribe, including Lana and Melora Moretti.
However, the females were all in a wretched state.
Evangeline furrowed her brow, silently cursing. ’The Monitor Tribe is full of savages.’
Along with the Grymdale females, they had also found Heavy Armor and the Monitor Tribe’s Witch.
Evangeline gnawed on a wild fruit. "What about the females from the Midridge Tribe?" she asked, confused. "Aren’t we taking them back?"
Elias Moretti slithered silently to Evangeline’s side. He flicked his tongue and said calmly, "Those females helped Heavy Armor out. Since they didn’t want to stay with Grymdale, they can just stay here."
Evangeline just gave a careless shrug, completely unconcerned about what happened to the females from the Midridge Tribe.
’Verdant put on such a good show of being honest, but in the end, didn’t she sell me out completely behind my back?’
’Even if Elias Moretti threatened and forced her, betrayal is still betrayal. The only reason I’m not hunting her down to slit her throat right now is out of consideration for the fact that we once knew each other. I’ve already shown her more than enough mercy.’
In the distance, Thorne found a jet-black python, its body covered in lash marks.
"HSS... HSSS..." The giant python flicked its tongue weakly, its vertical pupils locked on Thorne as intermittent hisses escaped its throat.
Thorne looked down at it in silence. After a long moment, he asked, "Mother died for you. Do you regret it?"
At his words, the giant python’s body suddenly went rigid, its scales scraping faintly in the dust.
The python slowly lowered its head to the ground. Its tongue flicked out feebly, only making it halfway before falling limp like a dead vine. Its long, narrow eyes fluttered shut, its life fading away.
Thorne didn’t move. After a moment, he nodded, a storm of emotion flashing through his dark-green eyes. "Of course I’ll live a good life. And I’ll find a female as wonderful as Mother."
Orion ran over and glanced at the lifeless python, his lips tightening into a thin line.
After a moment, he sighed and patted Thorne’s shoulder. "Try not to take it too hard."
Thorne shook his head. "I’m not sad," he said calmly.
He lifted his gaze, his eyes falling upon Evangeline in the distance.
When his gaze brushed past Elias Moretti at her side, his pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
But in the next instant, his expression softened, and his lips curved into a gentle smile. Even the voice he raised to call out to her was soft. "Flora—"
Elias Moretti had been about to say more, but that call cut him off abruptly, his vertical pupils filling with displeasure.
Evangeline, however, was delighted. She turned to look at Thorne and ran toward him without a moment’s hesitation.
Elias Moretti’s serpentine body went taut. He stared at Evangeline’s cheerful, retreating back, his scales rustling as they glinted coldly in the moonlight. His tongue flicked rapidly in and out of his mouth.
His gaze swept over the large, jet-black snake lying on the ground, and he too began to slither slowly in that direction.
"Thorne!" Evangeline ran and slipped into his arms like a fish into water. Her fingertips subtly clung to his waist, her voice laced with a sweet, coquettish charm, never missing an opportunity to advance her conquest.
Thorne wrapped an arm around her and looked up at Elias Moretti, who had approached them.
"Father is dead..." Elias Moretti shot Thorne a sideways glance. His voice was grim and indifferent as his tongue flicked, and he seemed to have no particular feelings for the dead, jet-black snake on the ground.
Evangeline paused, stunned. She looked down at the giant python and blinked. "This is... Chief Morgan?"
Thorne hummed a low note of confirmation, his arm tightening to pull Evangeline deeper into his embrace.
He looked up at Elias Moretti, his fingers unconsciously toying with a strand of Evangeline’s hair. His voice was as calm as if he were discussing the weather. "After I take our people back to Grymdale, I’m leaving. From now on, the tribe is yours."
The unspoken meaning behind his words was crystal clear in the night wind.
He had never wanted to compete with anyone for the position of Chief of Grymdale.
If it hadn’t been for an accident—running into a ruthless female—he would have been the strongest male entrenched in Norfell, the most arrogant and untamable "Serpent King."
A carefree grin spread across Orion’s face. "Hey! Perfect timing! You can come to my Sky-Rend Tribe!"
Evangeline, still clinging to him, nodded. "I’ll follow you wherever you go!"
’Thorne’s attitude is clearly softening,’ she thought. ’Time to advance the conquest. After I help him fuse with the Beast Crystal and restore his Star Pattern, Caden Albright’s cub will be born. The timing will be perfect. I can complete my missions one after another without any breaks.’
Thorne looked down at her, a smile in his voice as he whispered, "Okay."
While Evangeline was scheming about her mission, Elias Moretti’s Beast Eyes blazed with fury at her words.
His voice was chilling as he suppressed his rage. "You already promised to help with the Viper Saliva!"
At that, Evangeline’s eyebrow twitched. "Isn’t Gable a Witch?" she asked, confused. "Can’t he pry the Monitor Tribe’s Witch’s mouth open himself? Is he that incompetent? What kind of Beast God’s Envoy is he if all he can do is sacrifice his own people?"
Gable, who was carrying Lana over, happened to overhear this, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
’Does she think everyone is like her?’
Elias Moretti’s crimson pupils constricted, and his tail grated against the ground with a harsh scrape. He stared into Evangeline’s eyes and said, enunciating each word, "You will do what you promised, ’Flora.’ The Grymdale Tribe needs you."
He deliberately stressed the name "Flora," his voice heavy with pressure. Of course, Evangeline could hear the threat.
She sneered, her gaze sharp and piercing. "Wherever Thorne goes, I go."
’What do I have to be afraid of? The worst that can happen is I start over from scratch.’
Thorne’s arm tightened around her, his handsome features contorting with fury. "Elias Moretti!"
Elias Moretti’s tongue flickered between his fangs. His gaze bypassed Evangeline completely, his vertical pupils locking onto Thorne as they rippled with a blood-red light.
"Leaving Grymdale?" he chuckled, his crimson body coiling and uncoiling as his tail swept across the ground. "Are you going to look for Evangeline? And you’re taking Flora with you? Are you going to have *her* help you get revenge?"
Elias Moretti’s tongue suddenly shot out, extending several inches until it almost touched Thorne’s cheek.
"Thorne, the feeling of having your Beast Crystal gouged out all those years ago—"
"Haven’t you had enough of it?"
