The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 103: The Female Master Has Already Given Birth to a Cub
Evangeline turned to look at Nix, only for their gazes to collide in mid-air.
Nix’s face was devoid of expression, as indifferent as if he’d just heard some trivial comment.
His purple eyes were locked on her, unblinking. A viscous, cold stillness churned in their depths, yet when he spoke, his tone was so soft it was almost a caress. "Want to go have a look?"
"Alright." The corners of Evangeline’s lips curved slightly as she slowly rose.
’I also want to see what dark secrets the so-called Blackwater Tribe is hiding, and how Nix plays his role as "High Priest." Know your enemy and know yourself, and you’ll never be defeated.’
That one casual sentence from him on the bed had been like a sharp blade, slashing through all pretense.
It made her suddenly realize that the soul hidden beneath this man’s skin was likely even more insane than she had imagined.
The blanket slipped from her waist, revealing jade-like skin. With each breath, her fair chest rose and fell, tracing a heart-stopping curve.
Nix tilted his head, a dark tide churning in his purple eyes.
He suddenly raised a hand, his fingertips grazing past—
He let out a low laugh, his voice gentle to the point of being eerie. "My female master has already borne cubs. Why would you want more?"
His touch gradually grew firmer, a dark possessiveness surging in his eyes.
Evangeline looked up at him, an intoxicating smile on her lips. "Would bearing a child for someone else be the same as bearing one for you?"
His scarlet tongue darted out, and as his Adam’s apple bobbed, a wisp of a laugh escaped him. But his voice was as low and raspy as a demon from hell. "Then help me."
Evangeline reached out and hooked a finger under Nix’s chin. "You want me because you want to use me as a weapon to kill Loras?"
A laugh rumbled in Nix’s throat. He looked up at her, the nine-star pattern on his forehead shining brilliantly, his purple eyes seeming to churn with starlight. "You prefer me to him, don’t you?"
The warmth vanished from Evangeline’s face, and she pulled her hand away.
’So that’s it. All that talk about living and dying for me was just a means to use me.’
’As expected. Even for the dark, sinister side of a dual personality, all his proclamations of love were just a ploy to get rid of Loras and have this body all to himself. It’s perfectly in character for a madman like him.’
’The only thing I didn’t expect was that I, the hunter who was supposed to be in control of the whole situation, would be treated as prey by him.’
Nix tilted his head and caught the fingertips she was trying to pull away between his teeth. Heat passed between his lips and teeth as he curved his mouth into an almost bewitching smile. "Why so cold? You weren’t like this a moment ago."
SMACK—
A crisp slap suddenly cut through the air. Nix’s head was knocked to the side, his messy purple hair falling to half-conceal the crimson handprint on his cheek. The faint glimpse of it only added a sort of wretched beauty to his appearance. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Evangeline calmly rose and began to dress. She methodically adjusted the collar of her top, covering the sensual view. The smile on her face didn’t reach her eyes. "The people of the Blackwater Tribe are getting impatient."
’Compared to Nix, I much prefer Loras.’
’In the original story, the true male lead was Loras, and this second personality, Nix, never even appeared.’
’I can’t be sure if helping this suddenly awakened second personality kill Loras would cause this body to collapse. If my mission target turns to ash, then what becomes of my mission?’
Nix slowly lifted his eyelids, his long lashes casting a shadow beneath his eyes.
Beneath his half-lowered lashes, the depths of his purple eyes held a tranquil madness that sent shivers down one’s spine.
He rose along with Evangeline, his black robes cascading down to envelop his slender frame. He hooked her fingers, brought them to his lips, and blew on them gently. His voice was so tender it was startling. "Does it hurt?"
Evangeline abruptly snatched her hand back. She looked up, staring into those bewitching purple eyes, and said flatly, "If you kill Loras, are you sure you’ll be able to live?"
’If Nix could take a physical form of his own, then perhaps treating him as Loras could also produce the required results for the mission.’
’After all, it’s the same body.’
Nix’s long lashes trembled, a strange shadow in his eyes. He blinked once, then suddenly broke into a smile that was both gentle and cruel, his tone lilting upwards. "I don’t know."
His answer was another crisp slap.
Nix’s arm wrapped tightly around Evangeline’s waist as he led her out of the bamboo house.
In the pouring rain, a Beastman from the Blackwater Tribe was kneeling on the ground, his Scale Armor-covered body trembling in the downpour. Hearing a sound, he seemed to let out a sigh of relief and quickly said, "High Priest, the tribe..."
"Let’s go take a look." Not a trace of emotion could be heard in Nix’s voice.
The Blackwater Beastman shuddered and nodded hastily.
When a pair of slender, fair legs entered his prostrated line of sight, his Adam’s apple bobbed noticeably.
However, his survival instinct made him lower his head immediately, not daring to look for more than a second. He turned and practically fled, as if afraid to remain in this place a moment longer.
The moment they left the bamboo house, vines burst from the muddy ground, twisting and winding around Nix’s palm. In an instant, they wove themselves into an umbrella whose surface glowed with a faint purple light, warding off the downpour.
He released the hand clamped around Evangeline’s waist, a bewitching curve gracing his lips. "Want to come up?"
As he spoke, he bent over slightly, half-kneeling on the ground. His thin black robes outlined the well-defined muscles of his back, and his curly purple hair shimmered with an otherworldly light, like an invitation from a fey creature.
Evangeline glanced at the muddy puddles and, without hesitation, pressed herself against Nix’s back, her fair arms naturally wrapping around his neck.
Sensing the soft warmth pressed against him, Nix subtly tightened his arms, hooking them under the bend of her knees.
He stood up, and the vine umbrella tilted silently in the storm, steadily shielding Evangeline’s head.
Holding the umbrella and carrying Evangeline on his back, Nix walked at a leisurely pace. Their overlapping figures cast an intimate, intertwined reflection in the murky puddles.
They passed through a grove of reeds swaying violently in the storm and stepped into the swamp.
Lying on Nix’s back, Evangeline saw jet-black crocodiles appear in her field of vision.
They were floating in the swamp, letting the downpour beat against them.
Only when they saw Nix did the massive creatures begin to twist and contort. The hair-raising sound of shifting bones accompanied the roiling of their scales, and in an instant, these Blackwater Beastmen had taken human form, kneeling in the swamp’s mire.
The one in the lead was a well-built and exceptionally burly young man.
He wore a crocodile skin wrapped around his lower body. With his knotted, muscular arms crossed over his chest, he bowed deeply, his voice, mixed with a damp chill, respectfully calling out, "High Priest."
But when he looked up and saw Evangeline, he froze, his Adam’s apple bobbing involuntarily.
He had never seen a female like this in Blackwater Swamp. She was so beautiful she seemed to be plated in light, utterly out of place in this foul, filthy marsh.
Nix lifted his eyelids slightly, his deep purple pupils churning with a cold stillness. "You don’t want your eyes anymore?"
The young Beastman was instantly plunged into an icy terror. He fell to his knees in a panic, cold sweat immediately beading on the back of his neck.
Evangeline tapped Nix’s shoulder lightly with her fingertips, her gaze falling on the prostrated Beastman. "Tell me, what kind of plague is it? Have you found the source?"
