Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Should I Take the Initiative to Appease Him?

Without a moment’s hesitation, Evan Orwell gritted his teeth and pushed himself up, using the momentum to stand.

"Let me heal you."

He said softly.

He reached out to untie the bandage on her shoulder.

Seraphina Caldwell instinctively took a step back, avoiding his hand with her shoulder.

"No rush, Wyatt Yardley has already dealt with it."

She paused, her gaze slowly shifting to Gideon Larkin and Isaac Vaughn, who were sitting nearby.

Their condition was obviously worse than hers.

"You just recovered."

Seraphina continued.

"You should check on them first. Their injuries are more severe. Once they’re healed, we can set off sooner."

These words sounded logical and reasonable.

But in reality, Seraphina had another plan.

She knew that Evan’s spiritual power was limited.

Rather than exhausting his strength, it was better to prioritize maintaining the more combat-capable Beast Husband.

As for herself...

She quietly clasped the jade bottle hidden in her sleeve, which still had a few drops of Spiritual Spring Water inside.

But when Evan heard these words.

He felt a different kind of sensation.

His hand froze in mid-air.

His expression shifted instantly from anxious to shocked.

Then from shock to deep astonishment.

His memory was crystal clear.

At the last moment before he passed out, he had seen the Ironwing Eagle dive down.

Its claws, sharp as knives, had torn into Seraphina’s shoulder.

Such an injury was far from an ordinary scratch.

Yet she actually...

Endured such excruciating pain, still thinking about others?

He stared at her current expression intently.

Calm, composed, even with a slight comforting smile.

At that moment, he suddenly felt a little sour at the tip of his nose.

The feeling was unfamiliar.

Yet incredibly real.

He furrowed his brows tightly, his voice deep but resolute.

"They are males; they can handle it. You’re different. I’ll heal you first."

Seeing that Seraphina was about to refuse, he immediately added a sentence.

"I’ve just absorbed that Green Rank Beast Crystal, not only have my spiritual powers recovered, but they’re also more abundant. I’ll fully heal you first, then treat them, it won’t delay our journey."

This statement sounded reasonable, also dispelling her last concern.

Hearing this, Seraphina’s heart relaxed.

Initially, she intended to conserve Evan’s strength as much as possible.

But in reality, her Spiritual Spring Water was extremely limited.

Forcing a delay might trigger an infection instead.

She lightly nodded.

"Okay."

Seeing her agree, a momentary hint of relief flashed in Evan’s eyes.

He slowly lifted the beast skin that had been soaked with blood.

Revealing a five-inch long tear on her left shoulder.

Blood still oozed intermittently, mingling with some pus.

He gently placed his palm on the wound on Seraphina’s shoulder.

A warm flow immediately spread from the contact point.

Before long, the hideous wound started to heal.

In an instant, the gash, which had originally been several centimeters long, was reduced to a small reddish mark.

A few seconds later, even that slight red mark quietly faded away.

"Done."

Evan spoke softly.

His face was even paler than before, and he looked much weaker than he had before he began the healing.

Seraphina was momentarily stunned, then carefully raised her hand to touch her shoulder.

She blinked, hardly able to believe that the burning pain she had felt had just healed.

She couldn’t help but laugh, her gaze involuntarily falling on Evan.

"Healing me must have taken a lot out of you."

Her tone was serious with a hint of concern.

"Can you still help the others? If you’re too tired, will you be able to keep up when we start moving again? I really don’t want you to exhaust yourself for us."

Evan shook his head.

"Don’t worry. Their issues are minor, the wounds aren’t severe, just need some treatment, it won’t take much energy and won’t affect our travel."

As he spoke, he walked over to Gideon Larkin nearby.

Evan placed his hand over the wound, his palm once again emitting a faint golden glow.

The glow covered the wound, slowly penetrating it.

The blood flow visibly slowed, and in a few breaths, it completely stopped.

"Hmm... much better."

Gideon mumbled softly.

Evan nodded and then turned to Isaac Vaughn and Wyatt Yardley.

He bent down to examine them, his brows slightly furrowed.

But he didn’t show much anxiety.

He gently brushed his hands over the damaged scales, releasing a thin and even layer of light.

Once everyone’s injuries were treated, Evan’s spiritual power was completely depleted.

Kaelan Hawthorne hadn’t been injured.

So during Evan’s healing process, he had quietly busied himself.

He gathered dry firewood and used a small knife to sharpen sticks, setting up a makeshift campfire.

Seeing everyone was ready, Kaelan quickly handed over freshly roasted meat.

He picked the most tender piece for Seraphina.

"Eat it while it’s hot."

"Fresh off the grill, gain some strength, we still need to keep moving later. Now that you’ve recovered, you can’t fall behind again."

He then distributed the roasted meat to Gideon, Isaac, and Wyatt, each getting a portion enough to be filling.

Finally, it was his own turn.

Seraphina took the piece of meat and lowered her head to take a bite.

This was so much more flavorful than what they had for breakfast.

Yet as she chewed, her eyes again found the figure leaning against a tree, resting.

She smiled at Kaelan.

"Kaelan, this is your fourth meal prepared, you’re becoming more diligent. Just one more time, and I’ll agree to give you a drop of blood."

Sitting by the fire, Kaelan merely responded with a soft "hmm."

His expression was calm.

Seraphina chewed her food slowly.

It was fortunate...

Fortunate that Evan could heal.

Had he not intervened to heal Wyatt, the group might have been delayed longer in the wilderness.

But now that everyone’s injuries had been dealt with.

As soon as they finished this meal and packed up, they could set off again.

Given their current route and physical state, they should be able to find a safe resting spot before nightfall.

Wyatt sat on a rock a little away from the fire, holding a skewer of still sizzling meat.

However, his gaze frequently drifted toward Seraphina, who wasn’t far away.

Moments earlier, as Evan crouched by her side to bandage her arm.

The fleeting joy in Seraphina’s eyes was too obvious.

At that moment, Wyatt clearly saw the light in her eyes.

Finishing his last bite, Seraphina clapped her hands to dust off the crumbs.

Just then, Wyatt appeared before her, though it wasn’t clear when he had approached.

He slightly lowered his head, clearly intending, as he had in the past,

to lift her up and carry her onward.

Yet, instinctively, Seraphina tilted her head and took half a step back.

She lowered her gaze.

"No need... I’ll let Gideon carry me."

She looked at Wyatt’s face, noticing his expression remained calm and serene.

Now that everything was alright, there was no further need to soothe him through closeness.

Besides, Wyatt had raised his voice at her earlier today.

She wasn’t someone who would take that without a response.

Why should he get to vent freely,

while she had to make amends proactively?

Wyatt’s raised hand lingered in the air.

In that instant, his gaze dimmed for a moment.
