The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 174: A Fierce Confrontation
His voice was slightly hesitant.
"Of course... it could be in a place covered by clothes. For example, below the nape of the neck, or the inner thigh, such hidden locations. Some females deliberately cover it with fabric, especially in formal occasions, to avoid attracting attention."
Seraphina’s heart sank a little.
She clenched her palm and unrelentingly asked, "Have you ever heard... of any female being particularly harsh to her own daughter?"
He shook his head almost instinctively.
"Female offspring are too rare. Most females would feel honored to have a daughter; why would they harm their own flesh and blood... Especially in our tribe, which places importance on bloodlines. A mother who can give birth to a female often sees her status elevated."
He suddenly stopped.
His Adam’s apple moved, and his eyes slightly flickered.
Because he remembered Seraphina’s experience.
It was because she was abused by her own mother.
Caden Cross left the Clan Leader to live independently with the child.
During that time, the entire tribe was buzzing with rumors, but no one dared to mention it openly.
Kaelan Hawthorne waved his hand and said, "I’ve really never heard of such a thing. But if someone were to bully a young female, the tribe wouldn’t speak of it. Such a disgraceful affair, if spread, would lead to punishment and the tribe would lose face. The elders would suppress it immediately, and those involved would be warned, with not even a record kept."
Seraphina’s body instantly relaxed.
The clues were cut off again.
If Mother wasn’t in the Fox Clan encampment, then where did she go...
Just as she was about to give up, Kaelan suddenly widened his eyes.
Moments later, he abruptly lifted his head, a glimmer finally appearing in his pale green eyes, and he spoke with a bit more urgency.
"That’s right! There’s a female who could very well be your mother!"
Seraphina hurriedly leaned forward, her knee almost touching him.
"Who is it? Why do you think it’s her?"
Her heart, which had been so heavy just moments ago, was lifted again.
"Her name is Lina Silver, and she’s quite a unique presence at the Main Encampment of the Fox Clan."
Kaelan frowned, trying hard to recall.
"Typical Fox Clan females have gold or bright green eyes, but hers are pure black, like Obsidian, recognizable at a glance. And... now that I think about it, the shape of her face, her eyebrows and eyes, they do look a bit like yours."
He added a crucial point.
"She has a particularly large number of beast husbands, over a hundred, many of them quite formidable. There are eight Blue Rank experts and several reportedly close to advancing to Purple Rank."
His voice lowered, carrying a hint of caution.
"Your father is from the Scorpion Clan and a Purple Rank Strong Person. Considering Lina Silver’s character, back then, he was likely among her beast husbands."
Seraphina’s fingertips suddenly tightened, her nails digging into her palm.
"Lina Silver..."
Seraphina murmured the name.
From childhood till now, Father had never mentioned this person.
His references to her mother were always vague, let alone specific names or origins.
Whenever she asked, Father would just remain silent or change the subject.
Her eyes brightened, and the hand clutching the Beast Skin trembled involuntarily.
"Perhaps... it really is her..."
Wyatt Yardley observed the hope kindling in Seraphina’s eyes and subtly smiled, making a swift decision.
"Then let’s not wait any longer. Set out tomorrow morning for the Main Encampment of the Fox Clan to find Lina Silver."
His words were direct, leaving no room for hesitation.
Seraphina turned to look at him, her eyes filled with gratitude.
"Thank you, Wyatt. Traveling during the rainy season is so dangerous, yet you’re willing to accompany me..."
Her words came out haltingly and were interrupted before she finished.
Before she could finish, Wyatt reached out, patting her head.
"Didn’t I say? Don’t thank me. Why can’t you remember?"
Seraphina was taken aback by his ruffling, staring dumbly at him.
She opened her mouth but then pressed her lips together, her ears gradually reddening.
Seeing her dazed expression, Wyatt’s heart softened.
He bent down and lightly brushed his lips against hers.
Straightening up, he gently swept his fingers across her slightly reddened lips, speaking softly, "From now on, if you want to thank me, do it like this."
"Don’t get it wrong again."
After speaking, he affectionately patted her head before turning to Kaelan, saying, "Let’s step outside."
Kaelan stood by, watching the two of them talk and laugh.
It reminded him of all those past days when she never once looked at him that way.
Outside, it was still raining, the droplets steadily pattering against the stone wall.
Wyatt leaned against the wall, his red eyes devoid of the earlier gentleness.
"Tell me, back when Isaac Vaughn entrusted Seraphina to you, how exactly did you take care of her?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Kaelan understood that Wyatt was no fool and surely had noticed Seraphina’s aversion to him long ago.
He had no intention of lying, bowing his head even lower, his voice somewhat hoarse.
"I didn’t hold her, letting her walk alone behind me. I thought this would teach her independence. But she was young, walked slowly, and often got her arms scratched by branches. I never turned around to support her, nor stopped to wait for her."
He paused, his voice softening.
"Then we entered Veridia, and she got lost, encountering a wild beast. I heard the commotion and rushed over. But from a nearby tree, I saw her being cornered against a rock wall by the beast. I didn’t intervene immediately; I wanted to wait for her to call for help, to see if she’d ask me for assistance."
"But she never called out, instead pulling out a dagger and engaging the beast herself. The agreement was that I would step in if she couldn’t handle it, but she was quicker than me, more agile than expected, resolving the situation before I could act."
Hearing this, Wyatt’s red eyes seemed to freeze over.
He glared at Kaelan, forcing each word out with icy deliberation.
"And then?"
Kaelan still kept his head down.
"That night, I found a hollow high up in a tree. It was quite high off the ground, over ten meters, with a cliff below. Yet I didn’t offer to lift her up. I knew her strength was insufficient, thought she’d ask me for help. But she didn’t; she squatted on the ground, tearing up Beast Skin to fashion a rope, and used some protruding rocks for support, inching her way up.
"The next morning, I wanted to help her down, but by then she didn’t trust me anymore. She avoided my hand, climbing down on her own. The rope snapped midway, leaving her hanging in mid-air. I leapt to catch her, but she pushed me away, eventually grabbing another section of the rope to land safely. She had a fall, banged her knee on a rock, bled, yet didn’t let me touch her."
"Bang!"
Before he could finish, Wyatt punched him in the face.
Kaelan neither dodged nor retaliated, enduring the blow head-on.
He staggered back, his spine crashing against the cold stone wall.
The impact momentarily blurred his consciousness.
A Green Rank’s strength couldn’t be matched by a Yellow Rank.
Blood immediately seeped from the corner of Kaelan’s mouth, his mouth buzzing numbly.
He opened his mouth, blood trickling down the corner of his lips.
Yet Wyatt wasn’t finished; he strode forward, clasping Kaelan’s neck tightly and pinning him against the wall.
In the next moment, he delivered another fierce punch to his chest.
