The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 171: Has She Already Bonded With Them?
She lowered her head, her eyelashes trembling slightly.
The rain outside hadn’t stopped, tapping rhythmically against the stone walls.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Seraphina instinctively looked in the direction of the door, her pupils slightly contracting.
She recalled Wyatt Yardley’s warnings before he left.
Never open the door to an unfamiliar male during your heat.
Even if someone familiar is calling from outside, don’t be easily convinced.
Besides, Wyatt and Isaac never knock when they come back.
They would come in directly or call for her with a message.
The visitor...
Was definitely suspicious.
She didn’t move or respond, just kept her ears attuned to the sounds outside the door.
Gideon’s voice came from outside.
"Who is it? Late at night, in the rain, disturbing the peace! You tired of living?"
Heavy footsteps sounded as if vibrations were coming through the ground.
Seraphina listened behind the curtain to the commotion outside.
Gideon’s voice suddenly became vigilant.
"It’s you? Albert Wyndham? What are you doing here?"
There stood Albert at the door.
He held a small clay pot, sealed with a grass rope at the mouth.
"Sorry for the intrusion, I had some honey collected during the hot season that I don’t care for, thought I’d bring some over to share with the female living next door. Heard females quite like it."
Gideon frowned, his expression darkening.
"No need, we don’t need it, take it back."
Though he wasn’t as bright as others and often got mocked for being slow.
He at least understood one thing.
He couldn’t accept gifts from other males for Seraphina.
It would give them an advantage and make Seraphina feel gratitude towards them.
As one of her beast husbands, it was his role to provide what she needed.
If Seraphina wanted something, he would find it himself.
Albert glanced at the yellow beast ring on Gideon’s arm, pausing momentarily.
The ring represented an unbonded state.
Yet a hint of disdain still flashed in his eyes.
"The honey is for Seraphina, whether to accept it should be up to her, right?"
Seraphina heard everything clearly inside.
Albert’s words sounded polite, his choice of words courteous.
But somehow, they made her feel uneasy all over.
She tried to sound calm, speaking outside the curtain, "Thank you for your kindness, but I don’t need it, please take it back."
Albert’s eyebrows rose slightly upon hearing her voice.
He hadn’t seen her and didn’t know if she was bonded with those beast husbands.
But her voice was clean and bright, not at all like the weak tone typical during a heat.
The surrounding air seemed to freeze for a moment.
His eyes grew colder, his mind quickly racing with thoughts.
Could it be... she’s already bonded with them?
As soon as the thought emerged, he suddenly took action.
He forcefully pushed Gideon aside, the strength catching Gideon off guard.
Gideon stumbled back, taking two steps before barely managing to steady himself against the wall.
Albert stepped forward directly towards Seraphina’s room.
"What are you doing!"
Gideon roared angrily, voice full of fury.
He was about to rush over when Kaelan, who had just arrived, held him back by the arm.
Kaelan shook his head at him.
Seraphina sat on the bed, heart tightening at the sight of Albert barging in.
Albert’s gaze first landed on her collarbone.
Seeing the bare skin with no mark there.
He slowly straightened up, relaxing a bit.
"How can you enter my room without permission!"
Seraphina’s voice trembled, her lips pale.
In the world of Beastfolk, a female’s quarters had special rules.
Entering without permission was an affront to a female’s dignity.
Even clan elders would announce themselves before approaching a dwelling.
It’s impolite for outsiders to enter unsolicited.
Yet Albert acted as if he didn’t hear a thing.
His steps didn’t stop as he walked straight to the center of the room, placing the clay pot of honey on a large stone with a dull thud as it landed.
"Seraphina, this honey was stored during the hot season, throwing it away would be a waste. Keep it or not, I won’t hold onto it, it’ll be discarded otherwise."
Finishing his words, he patted the side of the pot casually.
"Who allowed you to come in? Get out!"
Gideon finally shook off Kaelan’s grip, stepping forward to grab Albert’s arm.
His ice-blue eyes nearly flaring with anger.
This guy not only barged in but tried to use food to win over the female?
Didn’t even see them as her beast husbands!
Isn’t this provocation?
Kaelan and Isaac also entered the room.
The curtain flapped as wind blew in, stirring the dried herbs hanging in the corner.
Isaac stood by the curtain, figure straight, his amber eyes calm and still.
"There’s a rule in the Beast Realm, entering a female’s room without permission is considered offense. Leave now and we’ll drop the matter. Stay any longer and I’ll report you to The Beast King for trespassing and harassing Seraphina."
With those words, the room fell silent instantly.
Albert slowly turned around.
He glanced over the three before him, pausing his gaze on each one.
Gideon, Yellow Rank; Kaelan, also Yellow Rank; Isaac, though a priest, bore only a Green Rank beast ring.
His eyes slanted disdainfully, more evident than before.
Yet he didn’t continue to resist, merely pulling out a smile.
"Where are the Serpentoid and Merfolk? Why are they nowhere in sight?"
Kaelan’s fists clenched tightly, joints turning pale.
His pale green eyes full of hostility.
"Not for you to worry about. Leave now, don’t push us."
Albert shrugged, suddenly turning his head to look at Seraphina.
His expression immediately softened, eyebrows relaxing.
"Seraphina, I know your current beast husbands... they’re not very capable, nor do they seem to care much for you. If you’re unhappy, you can always choose a better one. The males of the Elephant Clan are the most devoted, once committed, we don’t spare any love or effort and would never let you suffer or be wronged."
"What nonsense are you spouting!"
Gideon’s face flushed red, shoving Albert forcefully.
"She doesn’t need anyone else! Get out now, or don’t blame me for ripping you apart!"
Albert chuckled coldly, not moving, just tilting his head slightly to size up the three before him.
"Fight? You three?"
The Blue Rank beast ring on his wrist began to glow slowly.
Seraphina stood her ground, not moving a step.
Her cheeks remained with a faint blush.
But her gaze wasn’t scattered, it gradually focused.
"Albert, please leave. I don’t lack beast husbands, and please don’t come to disturb me again in the future."
At this moment, her thoughts became unprecedentedly clear.
He was here because he knew she was in heat.
His brash entrance showed he didn’t see her as a female deserving respect.
Indeed, she wanted to annul the marriage contracts with those antagonistic beast husbands.
But it wasn’t because she looked down on them, or resented their ranks or status.
The true reason was that she had read their fates in the book.
For this reason, she dared not rashly accept the responsibilities of a marriage contract.
But Albert was different.
He didn’t know the past plots nor did he care about her circumstances.
Based on his own strength, he presumed she should submit to him.
This arrogance was far more unsettling than the looming dangers of the future.
