The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 112: Still Staring?
Just as she was about to step inside, Jasper Quinn suddenly called out to her: "Seraphina!"
He raised his hand and pointed to the small wooden cabin not far away, which was glowing warmly.
"That, that’s where I live... If anything happens at night, if you’re cold, scared, or just want to talk... feel free to come find me."
As soon as he finished speaking, a pair of rabbit ears popped out atop his head with a "swoosh."
Noticing her gaze, Jasper’s ears turned even redder at the tips.
He pressed his lips together, hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly.
"Would you like to touch them?"
The entire world seemed to pause.
Gideon Larkin was the first to explode, his face ashen, gripping Seraphina’s arm tightly. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
His voice shot up, almost roaring: "What do you mean?! Trying to deliberately seduce the female master!"
Inviting Seraphina to touch his beast ears in front of them?
Were the three of them invisible?
Isaac Vaughn reacted even quicker, moving instantly.
Yet Jasper acted as if he hadn’t heard, continuing to stare at Seraphina.
The rabbit ears atop his head wobbled.
"It’s fine, if you really want to touch, go ahead, it doesn’t matter."
Seraphina stared at those ears, her heart itching.
She suddenly snapped back to herself, her heart beating slightly faster.
Jasper hadn’t bonded with her, he was a male from another tribe.
Touching his ears?
That would be too inappropriate.
He’s not her male partner, she can’t just touch him, can she?
Besides, Gideon, Isaac, and Wyatt Yardley were still watching from the side!
She quickly turned her gaze away, dared not look again, awkwardly waving her hand, her voice somewhat shaky.
"No need, really no need, I appreciate the thought. Thank you."
Jasper’s lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but eventually, he just lowered his eyes lightly.
"Then, if you ever want to touch them, come find me anytime."
With that, he sneaked a glance at her.
Then slowly turned, trudging back towards his small wooden cabin.
As he walked, his rabbit ears hadn’t retracted.
The silhouette in Jasper’s color appeared particularly frail in the twilight.
Seraphina couldn’t help but stare at that retreating figure, her gaze following him.
It wasn’t until that Jasper-colored silhouette slowly turned into the wooden cabin’s doorway, completely disappearing from sight, that she snapped back to reality.
The way those drooping ears looked earlier... why did they seem more endearing than when they were perked up?
"Still staring?"
A cold voice came close to her ear.
Seraphina froze, her ears trembling slightly.
Only then did she realize that several pairs of eyes were all intently fixed on her.
She instinctively raised her eyes and scanned around.
Sure enough, several beast husbands had halted their actions.
Especially Gideon, his gaze was so bright it almost sparkled.
Her cheeks instantly warmed up, and she hurriedly cleared her throat, anxiously seeking a topic to lighten the mood.
"It’s getting dark soon, what are we eating tonight? We can’t just wait for the moon to rise on empty stomachs, right?"
As soon as she said that, as expected, it successfully diverted everyone’s attention.
The previously tense and subtle atmosphere instantly diluted.
Kaelan Hawthorne smiled faintly in response, reaching into the beast skin bag slung over his shoulder, pulling out some fluffy little prey.
They were a few freshly caught mountain hares and a fat field mouse.
As he pulled them out, he said softly, "I snagged a few on the way, not much, but enough to eat. Roast them over a fire, sprinkle some salt and herbs, and the flavor will come out."
He then pulled out the bone knife from his waist, quickly chopped dried branches into small segments, and neatly stuffed them into the stone circle.
Seraphina crouched by the fire pit, resting her chin on her hands.
Watching him pick up a sharp piece of flint, grabbing a piece of dry bark with the other hand, he skillfully struck it, producing a few sparks.
The flames roared to life.
Staring at the dancing flames, she suddenly remembered something and couldn’t help asking softly, "Is this meat enough to eat? If it’s not, could we add some red berries and sweet potatoes to make a stew? Boil them until tender and mix with the meat, it’s fragrant and not too greasy."
Kaelan paused his fire-feeding movements.
"There’s enough meat. As for red berries and sweet potatoes... we’ve already eaten them all, even the last seeds were gnawed clean."
Seraphina pressed her lips, her heart stirred slightly.
In fact, she still had some stored away, secretly hidden for emergencies a few days back.
Now hearing this, she considered whether to sneak some out to make up for it, since no one would notice anyway.
Yet, before she could act, a high-pitched voice suddenly burst out nearby.
"I know! There’s a red berry forest to the east!"
Gideon suddenly stood up, patting his chest.
"If I head over now, I could be back in half an hour! I’m fast, it’s just a quick run!"
"Don’t go!"
Seraphina almost reflexively stretched out her hand, grabbing the crude beast skin skirt at his waist.
"It’s almost completely dark, wild beasts roam deep within the forest, it’s too dangerous to go now. Besides, having meat to eat is already great, there’s no need to risk going after wild fruits."
Gideon’s body stiffened, his steps forcibly halted.
Hearing her say this, his once bold expression immediately fell.
Yet in a blink of an eye, he switched to a playful demeanor, grinning, scampering back to her side.
"Whatever you say! I won’t go, I won’t pick the berries! I’ll stay and help you roast the meat!"
After speaking, he specifically cast a quick glance towards Kaelan not far away.
Kaelan remained silent.
He continued to focus on processing the prey in his hands.
He then took out a few carved wooden skewers, carefully threading the meat strips, placing them steadily on the fire pit’s edge stand, one by one.
The fat slowly seeped out with the rising temperature, dripping into the burning woodpile below.
The aroma mixed with the warmth of the charcoal fire, slowly permeating the air.
However, while everyone was immersed in the anticipation of the upcoming meal, Seraphina’s nose suddenly twitched slightly.
She smelled an aroma.
It was... the fragrance only steamed buns would release when cooked.
With wheat, it could be grown in the space.
At Jasper’s cabin door, a thin white mist was wafting gently.
Seraphina instinctively stood up, took two steps, then abruptly remembered something, pausing, and quickly turning back to explain.
"There’s a special smell over there, I’m really curious. I want to go see... what are they cooking?"
Wyatt Yardley’s dark red eyes slightly darkened.
From the rabbit ears, to this aroma...
His stern thoughts quickly pieced together bits and pieces from before.
That Jasper always seemed to unintentionally draw her attention.
First, the furry ears piqued her curiosity, now a meal captured her gaze again.
"I’ll take you there, don’t wander off."
Isaac also stood up, his robe hem gently brushing the ground.
His eyes focused, gaze deep.
"I’m going too."
Though he said little, his steps moved towards the cabin.
Gideon immediately followed, almost instinctively stepping forward.
"I’m coming too! Need to keep an eye on that rabbit, make sure he doesn’t pull any tricks!"
His ears perked up, a hint of vigilance flashing in his eyes.
Seeing the two wanting to join, Seraphina quickly waved her hand, showing a bit of helplessness on her face.
"You all don’t have to go, right? Wyatt and I can handle it. They’re just cooking at home, if we all rush over, it’d be so awkward."
