The Villainess VTuber Rips People Apart-Chapter 149: Accept your destiny
It felt like something might happen, or it might not.
"Rion, what's the schedule looking like moving forward?"
After the match between Leviathan and Behemoth ended and I realized I had some free time, I asked Rion.
"Sis's schedule? Wait a moment."
Rion, who had just returned from overtime, looked somewhat tired. I heard she hadn’t had dinner yet.
Exhausted from work, Rion didn’t have the energy to prepare dinner. So while waiting for takeout, she pulled out her notebook.
"Well, since your and Chel’s voice drama was released... the silhouette MV should be out sometime this month."
"And what about me?"
"Obviously nothing. The recording’s already done."
Rion answered as if it was a bit obvious.
Of course, I wasn’t asking because I didn’t know. I knew, but I just wanted to confirm it.
And Rion also knew that I wasn’t asking out of ignorance. She knew very well that my memory was good.
"Inui Kirin is planning a broadcast, and I think it’ll be in one or two weeks. After that, in three weeks, there’ll be a match between Leviathan and Griffin."
"So that’s it for this month, right?"
"I think so. Anything else? Have you been invited for a collaboration by anyone else?"
"Not really."
"Hmm... looks like you don’t have much going on this month."
Rion also realized when she checked my schedule.
This month was relatively free, and next month would be busier.
"Anything that can be moved up this month... doesn’t seem like it. Next month, there’s the new costume reveal, but that has to be coordinated with the 6th generation students’ schedules."
"Well, that’s unavoidable."
"Still, there’s probably going to be at least one advertisement coming in soon, right? You did defeat Mashina pretty impressively... No, you took her down in such a glamorous way, right? I think a company might want to offer you an ad."
"Aren’t you already getting quite a few game ads?"
I was still running the Aseer Sale promotion, and Dungeon Seeker also needed 2-3 more weeks of promotion.
"Surprisingly, even outside of games, ads are coming in."
"Like what?"
"Pillow ads, for example."
"...Pillow?"
The random word made me tilt my head in confusion.
Can VTubers and pillow ads coexist?
"Of course, since you can’t use a webcam, we can't film you actually using the pillow. In such cases, it’s usually an advertisement where the viewers are told about the product's review."
"So, it’s an ad that works? That’s interesting."
"Why do companies give ads to streamers? Because they trust the number of viewers and their loyalty. If they wanted to make it widely known, they’d give a TV ad instead."
Apparently, Rui and Kaiser had gotten pillow ads.
For example, Kaiser would try the pillow, and during his broadcast, say something like, “I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately, but after trying this pillow, I’ve been sleeping well.”
Then, the viewers who normally watched Kaiser would trust his words. Because he’s their favorite.
If your favorite says that, you’d probably believe it. Kaiser isn’t the type to lie.
If I were considering buying a pillow, I’d probably think, "Well, since I’m dealing with a pillow problem, maybe °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° I should try it?"
Of course, in theory, that’s how it works, but there are actually more companies that would prefer to see actual usage of the product. So giving VTubers ads for products like pillows isn’t a very common thing.
It’s why computer ads come more often, but gaming chair ads, which need actual usage to be shown, don’t come as often.
Besides that, food and restaurant ads are surprisingly common.
"Printing illustrations on food packaging isn’t that difficult, you know? In that way, VTubers actually have a slight advantage over regular streamers."
"That’s an interesting story. But I guess it's up to the company to decide if they want to give the ad, right?"
"...With your popularity and buzz, I think ads will come soon, though."
Rion didn’t know exactly when, and neither did I.
Maybe the ads had already arrived, but maybe they were still under review by higher-ups.
In the end, the conversation came back to where it started.
"Anyway, you should just continue with your usual game streams. Labyrinthos is fine, Dungeon Seeker or Aseer Sale is fine too. If you want to play something else, you can do that as well."
In other words, she said I should just do things as usual.
However, there was one thing.
"By the way, sis, you know about the 3D stream planned for the month after next, right?"
"I know. Has a specific date been set?"
"Not yet, but we should start preparing for the 3D stream."
"Preparing?"
It was still two months away, yet we were already talking about preparations?
"3D streams need a bit of lead time for preparation. To put it simply... sometimes people perform with musical instruments on their first 3D streams. Sis, do you play any instruments?"
"Well, I can play the violin and piano. Of course, since I’ve had a long break, if I’m going to do it, I’ll need to practice."
"...Really? That’s surprising."
Rion’s eyes widened. It shouldn’t have been that surprising.
If you’re a noble lady, you’re expected to know at least one form of art—whether it’s painting or music.
And I was a duchess, the pinnacle of noble ladies.
I was expected to know both painting and music. My goal had always been to hear praise like, “Lady Laura is so talented! Truly the jewel of the Duke’s family!”
Back when I lived in the Duke's estate, I really had to learn a lot of things.
So I could play a few instruments too.
"Anyway, if you want to perform with the violin during the 3D stream, you’ll need to order a violin model."
Rion said that.
Of course, you could play without the violin model, but as Rion explained, if the viewers saw you waving your hands in the air, it would break the immersion.
"For something like the violin, it won’t take long to make the model, but it will still take some time."
"So, if you need any props, you need to tell us early."
"Not so much that, but it’s better if you tell us what you want to do during the 3D stream. That way, we can prepare the props and models."
That’s what she said.
So, what do I want to do on the 3D stream?
"Can you sing?"
"Singing? I can do it, but I can’t sing a lot. I could manage 1-2 songs, I think."
"I see."
"Want me to sing?"
"I’m planning to."
The one-man live stream for the 6th generation students would eventually come. It might be a good idea to get some performance experience as a warm-up.
"Find a dance trainer, Rion."
“...That’s what happened.”
After hearing the series of events from Laura, Nalim responded.
She had been about to enter the dungeon alone but somehow ended up sitting right next to Laura.
And now she was sipping tea and having snacks... or rather, data fragments.
New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.
At any rate, Son Nalim drank the tea.
Now that she thought about it, this was the first time she had ever drunk tea in her life. Most Koreans drink coffee.
So, this must be what tea tastes like. Should I try buying some in real life?
“By the way, why did you log into the game?”
Nalim asked.
The story was very interesting, but no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t understand the connection between Laura being logged into Dungeon Seeker and anything. Shouldn’t she be going for dance lessons?
Maybe it was just fate?
Someone had once said about fate:
"It’s fate. Accept it."
So, should she just accept the situation?
"Well, I haven’t found a dance trainer yet, so I just logged into the game."
"Oh, that’s it."
It was such a trivial reason.
"Since I finally have some free time, I wanted to enjoy this world."
Laura said that. ...Enjoy this world?
Nalim thought there was something strange about Laura's expression. If you say you're enjoying something, doesn’t that mean you’re fully immersed in the game?
But Laura didn’t seem like she was exploring dungeons. She was just leisurely having tea by herself, sightseeing.
It felt like she was out sightseeing alone.
In real life, Nalim could understand that behavior, but this was a game space.
‘Of course, there are people who enjoy the map itself in open-world RPGs.’
But was this the type of scenery worth enjoying? It didn’t really seem that way.
More importantly:
"Laura, you’re surprisingly sentimental, aren’t you?"
That part stood out to Nalim.
She seemed like someone with no blood or tears.
Someone who wouldn’t even blink if a person died next to her, who would coldly reject a proposal if someone handed her a bouquet of flowers, who would just remain dignified while snow fell from the sky... that kind of person.
Suddenly, Nalim thought Laura might be like a hermit.
She had always given off a transcendent aura. If a hermit came down from the mountains to look around the world, this might be the feeling.
