The Villainess Redeems Herself, The Beast Husbands are in a Daily Love Battle-Chapter 83 - 84: Don’t Send Me Away
Selene Kane’s fingers repeatedly combed through its back fur.
From the top of its head down to the tip of its tail, her movements were so gentle as if she were handling fragile treasure.
She wanted to tuck it into her heart.
She lowered her head and kissed the Little Fox’s forehead, murmuring, "You’re being so good. Are you looking for a reward?"
Before she even finished speaking, Alza lifted its little head and brushed its wet nose against her lips.
"Getting along well with Holden Sheridan so quickly? You’re really a good baby."
She muttered with a teasing tone in her voice.
She knew that guy was solitary, rarely willing to open up to anyone.
But Alza was like a natural warmth.
This made her feel at ease and satisfied.
Alza nestled in her arms, humming contentedly, its tail wagging joyfully.
It extended its pink little tongue to lick her fingers, making her burst into laughter.
She held a spoon in her mouth and didn’t forget to tear a piece of meat to feed it.
"When I’m not around, you have to eat on time too, understand?"
As she spoke, she placed the minced meat near its mouth.
"Don’t end up whining from hunger. I’ll have Caleb Shaw send a doctor to check on you later; it shouldn’t be too much trouble."
The Little Fox was downcast, looking lackluster.
The earlier coziness seemed forced, its ears slightly drooping, and its eyes a bit vacant.
That deep-seated fatigue seeped through its very being, and even the softest fur couldn’t hide it.
He didn’t care for those scheming men pretending to be kind.
Everyone says they don’t care, but secretly they’re all circling around the Female Master.
He knew why they approached him.
It was nothing more than trying to use him to please Selene Kane, to gain trust, or even favor.
He disdained associating with them and didn’t want to be anyone’s stepping stone.
He just wanted her pure attention, even if only for a moment.
Alza lightly leaped up onto the chair, and with a sway, transformed into a human form.
Silvery white long hair cascading down his shoulders, his face was frighteningly pale.
His thin body was wrapped in loose clothing.
With his fingers placed on his lips, he gave a couple of low, hoarse coughs.
"I’m sorry, Female Master, my body’s weak, causing you trouble."
"My brothers... hopefully, they won’t find me burdensome?"
His eyes lowered, his voice so soft it was almost inaudible.
She tried to keep a stern face, but laughter seeped through the corners of her eyes and brows.
She reached out to pinch his cold cheek, giving a soft hum.
"Burden? You’re the apple of my eye, who dares to call you a burden, I won’t allow it."
Well, this state was perfect, just what she liked.
She liked seeing him rely on her, enjoying when he got jealous, aggrieved, and vied for her attention.
This scene of rivalry and jealousy was what she loved most.
As long as they fought among themselves, they wouldn’t vent their anger on her.
She was happy to watch them argue heatedly for her, fighting as if their lives depended on it.
As long as they focused on each other, they wouldn’t band together against her.
And she, just needed to sit high, watch coldly, and firmly hold the initiative.
She grinned, revealing a row of neat white teeth.
"How could anyone dislike you! If only they were as considerate as you, let alone them, even the best Beast Husband in the whole tribe could not compare to how much you mean to me. Besides, you’re the Beast Husband I brought home myself; to me, you’re the most special. Unique, irreplaceable."
She slowly and firmly grasped his cold hand.
"Don’t forget, when I was in the slums, the first person to accept my calming was you. Back then, everyone avoided me, thinking of me as an ill omen, but you were different. You didn’t shy away, didn’t reject, instead, with trembling hands, you gently held onto me, telling me you were willing to accept me. At that moment, I knew, you were different."
Alza now coughed for real, a few repressed coughs escaping his throat.
His eyelashes trembled slightly, a hint of shyness flickering in his eyes.
Why is she speaking so directly now?
But actually, nothing had really happened.
No promises, no kissing, not even a real hug could be counted.
But why, does it feel like his heart was already completely occupied by her?
"Miss Kane..."
His voice quivered slightly.
"Can I always stay with you? Like now, living by your side, watching you smile, listening to you talk, even just cooking a bowl of porridge or boiling a pot of hot water for you... Can I? Never leave?"
Selene Kane eyed his face, looking at those eyes, full of tension.
She quietly mulled it over in her heart.
Though his physique was weak, his nature was pure.
And this dependency did not arise from ulterior motives, but from sincerity.
In this world full of deceit and survival of the fittest, such pure emotion was exceedingly rare.
She nodded slightly.
"You can."
She gazed at his lean yet handsome profile and suddenly laughed in her heart.
So good-looking even now, features like a painting, spirit like the moon.
Even wearing a simple outfit couldn’t conceal his natural grace.
If he’s well-nourished later and replenished with qi and blood.
Brought to a healthy flush, full of vigor, wouldn’t that be remarkable?
Just imagining his cheeks with a healthy blush made her heart itch.
Hey, wouldn’t even the chieftain’s daughter turn green with envy then?
"Host," the icy voice of the system suddenly rang in her mind, "this person’s health is quite poor, not recommended to keep. From all data assessments, his vitality index is persistently below par, with very low reproductive potential. Likely, he could give you two or three children at most before collapsing; keeping long-term is highly risky, better deal with him promptly."
Selene Kane became furious upon hearing this.
Having a Beast Husband that could bear two or three children, yet they thought it was too few?
What on earth was this system expecting from her?
To be a breeding machine?
She was an independent woman from modern times, not a tool created for reproduction!
Besides, having just one now was already giving her a headache. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Did the system even understand what emotional bonds were?
What human connection meant?
Alza noticed her sudden change of expression, brows tightly furrowed.
His hands were anxiously twisting the fabric of his clothes, fingertips white, lips trembling slightly.
Tears rolled down that already beautiful face, one after another.
"Miss Kane, I didn’t mean to anger you... I really didn’t... If you don’t like what I said, I won’t say it again... Please, don’t send me away."
"Don’t dislike me... I really... I’m really afraid you’ll not want me..."
Selene Kane’s heart softened.
She said nothing, just reached out to pull him into her embrace.
"I won’t," she comforted gently, "I won’t send you away, you don’t need to go anywhere. Don’t cry, okay? Be good, huh? Listen to me."
She gently cupped his face, thumb tenderly wiping away the tears continuously streaming from the corners of his eyes.
His eyes were already red from crying.
But what softened her heart most was the helplessness in those eyes.
"System," she suddenly coldly spoke in her mind, "do you need an upgrade? Is your data so outdated that you can’t comprehend human emotions? The kind that makes me want to have a child instantly with this person here, do you not understand what it means to be moved? What it means to be reluctant? What it means to say ’Even if he can only live for five years, I’m willing to accompany him to the end’?"
