The Villainess Cannot Escape — Five Beast Husbands Chase Her Madly-Chapter 120: Qiuqiu, Lizard King Blood
Lan Cangming and Night Abyss exchanged a look and pulled up the security feed on their terminals almost simultaneously.
On the screen, the small, white-furred female cub was curled into a ball, sleeping soundly. Suddenly, inky-black scales erupted from her tailbone, shooting up its length like thorns.
It abruptly opened its scarlet eyes, its lizard tail lashing out to shatter the electronic lock on the door. Flying metal shards precisely pierced the camera lens, and the feed instantly dissolved into static.
"Did it lose control?"
Lan Cangming frowned. A pale blue light washed over the entire room like a wave, finally locking onto a pink pig-shaped sofa near the wall.
"Come out!"
Night Abyss barked, flipping the pink pig sofa over with one hand.
A black shadow shot out like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Night Abyss was lightning-fast. His hand, like an iron clamp, accurately seized the shadow’s weak spot, only to have sharp fangs suddenly pierce his scales. Hot blood dripped between his fingers.
"Qiuqiu?"
Lan Cangming’s pupils constricted as he stared in shock at the frantically writhing black shadow.
The once soft and cuddly female cub had transformed into a pitch-black lizard beast the size of a wildcat.
Its thick tail was covered in vicious barbs, and its scarlet, vertical pupils swirled with an unfamiliar, ferocious light.
Its deathly-white fangs ground against the scales on Night Abyss’s arm with a grating CRUNCH.
"The spawn of Nieruo. Rotten to the core, as expected."
A cold killing intent flashed in Night Abyss’s dark red, slitted pupils. His vibrant red Poison Armor erupted like blades, lancing viciously toward the lizard cub’s throat.
"Stop." Lan Cangming lunged forward like a bolt of lightning and grabbed Night Abyss’s arm.
The Poison Armor halted at the edge of the lizard cub’s throat, its sharp tip having already broken the young creature’s skin, drawing beads of blood.
The lizard cub let out a piercing shriek. Terrified, it thrashed its tail wildly, the barbs carving three bloody gashes across Night Abyss’s cheek.
"Let go!"
Enraged, Night Abyss’s purple-black toxic mist flared. He snarled through gritted teeth, "A traitor’s bloodline must be purged! If you stop me again, I’ll drag you back to the Judgement Court with it!"
"If you kill it, Anan will go insane."
Lan Cangming’s nails nearly dug into Night Abyss’s scales, but his voice softened. "Have you forgotten how much Anan treasures it? She prepared two entire nursery rooms just for the cub. Are you really going to destroy her hope with your own hands?"
Night Abyss’s fingers trembled violently. The image of Su An’an happily doting on Qiuqiu, cradling the cub in her arms, flashed through his mind. His Poison Armor slowly retracted.
"Qiuqiu, let go."
Lan Cangming patted the lizard cub’s head, keeping his voice as gentle as possible.
But the lizard cub kept its jaws clamped firmly on Night Abyss’s arm, a low growl rumbling in its throat. Its eyes were filled with fear and wariness.
"If you don’t let go now, I’m calling the Princess in. If she sees what you look like right now..."
Lan Cangming’s gaze swept over the lizard cub’s vicious barbs, his tone laced with threat.
As if its tail had been stepped on, the lizard cub abruptly let go and scrambled under the wardrobe as if fleeing for its life.
Its scarlet eyes glinted in the moonlight, revealing the innate timidity of a cub, yet they remained filled with vigilance.
"A dangerous creature like this can’t stay with Anan. We’re sending it to a Deserted Star tomorrow."
Night Abyss’s voice was like ice, every word laced with an unyielding cruelty.
"Anan won’t send it away."
Lan Cangming shook his head, his gaze lowered to the cowering black shadow under the wardrobe. The tip of its trembling tail was still stained with Night Abyss’s blood.
"You know exactly what its bloodline means!"
A towering rage churned in Night Abyss’s eyes, veins bulging on his neck. "Nieruo’s bloodline is a ticking time bomb."
"Calm down."
Lan Cangming kept his focus on the tip of the tail peeking out from under the wardrobe, and he noticed that the barbs on it were already starting to retract.
"It usually has perfect control. It was just at the Royal Palace today and got spooked by Alita’s Beast Husband, Louis. That’s why it had such a strong stress reaction."
"You took it to the Royal Palace?!"
Night Abyss’s pupils shrank to pinpricks, his voice distorting with fury.
"That place is crawling with bloodline detectors."
"If its Lizard King’s Blood, the Nieruo gene, is discovered, Anan won’t just be charged with the crime of harboring a traitor’s beast! We’ll all be finished!"
"That’s why Anan had to pave the way in advance."
Lan Cangming tapped his terminal, and a holographic Light Screen popped up, displaying a special gift box from the Royal Cabinet.
"Her Majesty the Queen sent a collar exclusive to the Royal Family, and the Second Princess’s gift was an Energy Gemstone."
"The entire Star Network now knows that Su Qiuqiu is a female cub officially recognized by the Royal Family. As long as it wears that exclusive collar, no one can touch it." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"That little brat sure is lucky!"
Night Abyss sneered, his teeth clenched. "To think it actually managed to worm its way into the Royal Family."
"Instead of talking about its luck, we should be thinking about how to teach it to control its power," Lan Cangming said calmly.
"If worst comes to worst, I’ll take it back to the Mermaid Fleet to train."
"You’re a Water Beast. What do you know about training a Land Beast?"
Night Abyss shot Big Fish a contemptuous glance, his gaze sweeping like a viper’s over the faintly trembling black shadow under the wardrobe.
"Still, the cub is a natural-born fighter."
"The female form is capable of Genetic Reorganization, while the male form inherits the Lizard King’s Blood. With a little polishing, it’s a blade that can kill with a single scratch."
Lan Cangming nodded. "Then I’ll leave it to you."
’Night Abyss’s background and experience were indeed better suited for training Qiuqiu than his own.’
"Get out here!"
Night Abyss kicked the pink wardrobe, sending it crashing against the wall with a dull THUD. "Keep hiding like a coward, and I’ll ship you off to a Deserted Star this instant."
Qiuqiu mustered its courage and scrambled out. Its scarlet, bestial eyes were full of caution as it stubbornly met Night Abyss’s gaze.
"You want to stay by the Princess’s side?"
Night Abyss suddenly snatched the cub by the scruff of its neck, lifting it to eye level like a limp rag.
"Then sharpen these two claws until they’re deadlier than my Poison Armor! We’ll talk after that!"
He grabbed a black cardboard box from the corner. "Get in. You start training with me tonight."
Qiuqiu flicked its tail in fear, but the thought of Su An’an’s gentle, smiling face made it dive into the cardboard box without a second thought.
Night Abyss hoisted the box onto his shoulder and walked toward the main hall, with Lan Cangming following closely behind.
"Alright, the list is finalized. Whether or not you accept them as Beast Husbands is your own decision."
After ending her communication with Ah Jin and the others, Su An’an sent the finalized appeasement list to the Royal Cabinet.
She stood up, drank a glass of orange juice, and looked up just in time to see Night Abyss walk out of Qiuqiu’s room carrying a black cardboard box.
"What’s that? And where’s Qiuqiu?" Su An’an asked, confused.
Night Abyss placed the cardboard box on the table and said coldly, "Su Qiuqiu, in its Nieruo form."
"What?"
Before Su An’an could react, she heard scratching sounds coming from inside the box.
"I’m Su Qiuqiu, not Nieruo!"
Qiuqiu roared in fury. The entire box shook violently, and one edge was suddenly ripped open.
Lan Cangming stepped forward to explain. "Qiuqiu was traumatized at the Royal Palace today and reverted to its lizard king cub form."
"Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"
Su An’an rushed to open the box. "Qiuqiu, don’t be scared. Auntie will calm you down, and everything will be alright."
She had just touched the lid of the box when Night Abyss stopped her.
"You can soothe it for a moment, but you can’t soothe it for a lifetime."
"It has to learn to wallow in blood and gore, not be some useless flower in a greenhouse."
"What do you mean?" Su An’an asked, a terrible feeling rising in her as she looked at Night Abyss’s frosty expression.
