Chapter 152: Princess [1]

"Don’t touch anything there and also remember to be on your best behaviour. I will quickly finish my business with the lord, and then we can go visit the market if you want. Are you okay with that?"

"Yes, Father."

A young girl, barely seven years old, replied meekly as her father looked at her warmly.

"You are such a nice girl, Sasha."

Sasha’s father patted her head with care, as their carriage had already entered the grounds of House Dracoth.

The horse neighed as the driver made it stop just before the guard post.

Sasha, along with her father, got off from the carriage as the nearby guards inspected them.

Sasha was a little scared, as the broad frames of the guards made her nervous.

"I have the letter of visit."

Sasha’s father handed a small letter to the head guard, who, upon reading it, had his brows raised in surprise.

"You may go."

Receiving the permission, Sasha’s father held her hand as he guided her to the palace before them.

It was Sasha’s first time in the capital city of the Dracoths, and seeing the mighty palace up close increased Sasha’s anxiety by another margin.

"Don’t worry too much. You can play with the Lord’s children. I think there wouldn’t be much of an age difference between you."

Sasha’s father, seeing the nervous state of his daughter, held her hand firmly while trying to reduce her anxiety.

He had promised Sasha to go on a vacation today, but some urgent business made him visit the lord immediately.

Still, he was going to complete his work as fast as possible, so that there would be enough time for him to take Sasha to the market here in the capital city.

As both of them reached the entrance of the palace, a huge door greeted them, with a total of eight guards on either side.

All of them looked strong, probably at Platinum or even Diamond rank.

Though they had suppressed their presence to the smallest extent possible, Sasha’s father could clearly feel their power, waiting to be unleashed at a moment’s notice.

One of the guards slightly opened the door to let the father-daughter duo enter the palace.

For the entirety of the time, Sasha was silent, as it took a great amount of her willpower to not break down and end up crying in the palace.

The inside of the palace was even more majestic, with huge hallways leading to different sections of the palace.

Stairs could be seen everywhere, as Sasha’s father walked straight, heading towards the main hall.

As Sasha turned her gaze to look around, she could see a number of people tending to the various parts of the palace.

Some were maids carrying trays of what appeared to be refreshments, while others were cleaning the furniture in the palace with utmost care.

Not a single one of them looked up from their work. Their discipline was an extraordinary sight for Sasha to see.

"The Lord awaits you."

A butler approached Sasha’s father as he saw the two of them walking straight to the main hallway.

"Sir."

Sasha’s father gave a small bow to the butler in respect of his position in the palace.

After that he followed the butler to the place where Lord Dracoth was usually present.

"Little miss, how about you head to the library downstairs till your father completes his work with the lord?"

The butler paused midway as he turned to look at Sasha, who was still holding her father’s hand.

Seeing the butler talk to her directly made Sasha hide behind her father, who just patted her head in return.

"Don’t worry. I will soon come to you, and then we will go to the market, okay?"

Sasha raised her eyes to meet her father’s gaze, nodding her little head in return.

"Take her to the library."

Seeing Sasha agree, the butler instructed one of the maids who just happened to be carrying a tray of refreshments.

"Yes, sir."

The maid, bowing her head in acceptance, walked towards Sasha as she gently held the little girl’s delicate hand in her own.

"Let’s go, shall we?"

Sasha nodded as she waved to her father for the last time before walking along with the maid.

"How old are you, dear?"

While heading towards the library, the maid questioned Sasha in a warm voice.

"S-Seven years."

Sasha stumbled a bit while replying, as she was still nervous from walking in such a mighty palace.

"Aren’t you a bright one? You see, the library that we are headed towards has a lot of storybooks in it. Do you know how to read?"

"Little."

Sasha’s reply stunned the maid, as she had not expected the girl to be able to read at such a young age.

The maid had asked the question out of politeness, but the reply made her re-evaluate her impression of the girl next to her.

"You don’t have to worry much, as there are a lot of books with illustrations in them."

"Illustrations?"

It was Sasha’s first time hearing such a word.

"Yeah, illustrations. They are like simple paintings that make it easier for people to understand what is given in the book."

The maid explained patiently as they took a right turn before walking straight again.

Sasha just nodded, as the previous anxiety in her heart had begun to subside a little. The maid’s voice played a major role in it, as Sasha felt her vibes were similar to her own mother’s.

"So, tell me more about yourself."

Seeing that the topics of conversation were narrowing, the maid shifted her focus to knowing more about the girl.

"Sasha."

"Is that your name?"

At the maid’s question, Sasha replied with a slight nod of her head.

She looked quite adorable, with her little legs trying their best to cover the distance they were made to walk.

The maid just smiled, as they had finally reached the library.

The library was purposefully built downstairs so that it didn’t interfere with the daily operations in the palace.

"Walk slowly, okay! It’s slightly dark in here."

The maid gently guided Sasha as they entered the library.
