The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss-Chapter 116: Him [5]
"Stop... Please."
Diana’s vision blurred as tears welled up in her eyes and soon began to fall.
"Is that what you always do when something goes against your wishes? Cry like a—"
Kael stopped midway as he looked at Diana’s face.
The silence extended as Kael kept staring into her eyes, which were now red due to the tears that were spilling out.
"You know what!"
Kael removed his hand from Diana’s arm and then grabbed her face from the area around her mouth.
This time his grip was even more intense than before.
"K-Ka-a-el"
Diana could not even form the words, as Kael’s grip on her mouth made her unable to do so.
"You were here to console me... That was the reason you had come here!"
Kael spoke more to himself than to Diana.
His eyes had narrowed in some sort of... excitement?!
"So how about you console me... in better ways."
Kael pushed Diana, making her fall on the bed.
"Kael?"
"Haa!"
Diana woke up with a loud shout.
Taking deep breaths, Diana tried to calm her beating heart.
"A dream."
Her entire body was covered in sweat.
She had returned from the classes and decided to take a short nap before visiting Kael.
Who knew it could become such a nightmare?
Glancing at the clock nearby, the time was around six in the evening.
There was still some time before dinner, so Diana decided to meet Kael.
Thinking about Kael, she had mixed feelings.
On one end, she was angry with him for whatever that had happened after the dream ended, but on the other side she couldn’t bring herself to hate him.
When she had suggested Alicia to dine with Kael the other day, both of the Frost siblings had refused her request.
They didn’t want to be anywhere near him.
Alicia had tried to talk Diana out of whatever she was getting herself into, but on Diana’s repeated insistence, Alicia budged a little, and that had led them to eating together.
Though Diana wanted to mend the relations between Kael and his siblings, she knew it would not be an easy task.
Sometimes Diana wondered if she was making another mistake by talking to Kael again.
After the banquet, Kael had gone missing.
Duchess Alia had sent search parties for him, and Diana herself had tried to help in any way possible.
But as a year passed, there was no sign of him returning.
Over the years Kael was missing, Diana kept thinking about all the choices that she had made.
Could she have done anything better given the circumstances? 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Could she have made Kael stay with them?
Regret and guilt began to pile up in her mind, with no way to reduce them.
So Diana was shocked when she saw Kael in the auditorium for the first time in three years.
Her mind couldn’t process what was happening before her.
When she had glanced at Kevin and Alicia, the two of them were even more shocked than her.
Kael had walked onto the stage with a refined elegance. With every step he took, Diana couldn’t take her eyes off him.
Within three years he had grown a lot.
His face was now sharper than before, but it was his body that had changed the most.
The last image of Kael that Diana had in her mind was that of a teenage boy.
But right now, though he wore a blazer, it couldn’t hide the body beneath.
Kael’s speech was the next thing that turned Diana’s entire understanding of him upside down.
Since when had he begun to care for commoners so much?
Well, Kael had never actively hated the masses, but neither did he have such strong feelings for them.
One after another, Diana kept getting new revelations about her old childhood friend.
Only when things had settled down could Diana think properly.
Kael had ranked first in the entire academy, and that too with a score that was unprecedented in the history of Namda.
Looking at him, though Diana couldn’t sense his actual strength, she knew that he was stronger than her for sure.
Even after the classes began, Diana tried to ignore his existence, but seeing his face every day made it difficult to do so.
She was stuck in a loophole of wanting to talk to him and fearing the consequences of getting attached to him again.
But then came the first practical session.
Through sheer coincidence, Diana and Kael had been allotted to the same team.
As Kael approached the team, it was the first time that Diana had seen him from such a close distance.
The way he talked had changed a lot.
If earlier, before his initial change, Kael used to have a soft way of talking, then he had become someone unpredictable, who wouldn’t end a single one of his sentences without cursing.
But now, from Kael’s words, it felt like he simply didn’t care for what was happening around him.
It was as if everyone around him was below his level, and something he had no need to waste his time on.
As the practical began, Diana saw the dominating performance put up by Kael.
He didn’t waste a single movement and killed the first monster in a single strike.
It was only in the practical that being in his vicinity made Diana realise her feelings again.
She wanted to talk to him more than anything else.
So she initiated the conversation.
At first, Diana had thought of sounding mature and distant, but the more she talked to him, the more she lost control over her emotions and ended up crying before him.
But her efforts paid off, and Kael had agreed to teach her.
Though that was not what she had been aiming for... it was better than nothing.
And now she was on her way to meet him.
Diana kept repeatedly taking deep breaths to reduce her anxiety.
Arriving before Kael’s assigned room, Diana knocked twice.
After a moment’s silence, the door opened, and Kael appeared in his casual clothes.
"You know there is a bell here."
