Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Christina Lynch Serves Tea

Sophia Zobel had indeed prepared a private room, bustling about serving them, fetching tea and water like an attendant.

"I chose this room especially for you. No one has ever stayed in it before. The lighting is excellent. Mrs. Shaw, see how warm it feels when the sunlight streams in? It’s lively over by the garden, but it’s also quite noisy and the sun is harsh. You should just sit here and wait for the birthday banquet to officially begin before heading over. It would be terrible if your delicate skin got sunburnt." She grinned, looking utterly sycophantic.

Naomi Kenway watched with a half-smile as Sophia handed teacups to her and Ian. She then asked, "How thoughtful. But aren’t you short one cup of tea? Where is my friend’s?"

"Ah..." Sophia Zobel glanced at Victor Vance, her expression reluctant. ’Anyone else would have been fine, but why did it have to be Victor Vance? It was always Victor who served me tea and water. Since when is it my turn to serve her?’

Watching silently from behind them, Christina Lynch frowned. "Don’t go too far! My mother is old; she can’t handle being ordered around like this! If anything happens to her, I’ll make you pay!"

"Oh, such big words." Naomi Kenway smiled. "If we’re not worthy of the tea, then we won’t drink it."

Her gaze turned cold, and Corbin splashed the hot tea in his hand onto Christina Lynch’s suit.

Christina Lynch flinched from the heat, tugging at his clothes with a frown. He glared furiously. "You!"

"Hey now." Sophia Zobel gave him a push. "Stop making trouble." She walked over with a smile, picked up another brand-new cup, and went to pour tea for Naomi Kenway.

Naomi Kenway stopped her, her eyes sweeping coolly over the simmering Christina Lynch. "Let him do it. Since he’s the host of this birthday banquet, it’s not too much to ask him to pour a cup of hot tea, is it?"

Humiliation was written all over Christina Lynch’s face. Tea stains marred his white suit.

Sophia Zobel knew her son had always been prideful. Thanks to his family’s status, he had never bowed his head to anyone. For him, serving tea was the ultimate humiliation.

"My son is clumsy and can’t pour tea properly. Let me do it."

Naomi Kenway was unmoved. "Then this is the perfect opportunity for him to practice."

Sophia Zobel looked helpless. She called out to Christina Lynch by his nickname, "Nathaniel, son, you’re the host of this party. You have to treat your guests with courtesy. And this isn’t just anyone—Mrs. Shaw is our family’s honored guest."

Something she said must have gotten through to Christina Lynch, as he slowly shuffled forward.

Sophia Zobel said with a smile, "I heard about what happened a while ago. It was all a misunderstanding. I’ve already scolded Nathaniel, and he promised me he’ll never be bewitched by Renee Jennings again. It was all Renee Jennings’s fault, from start to finish. My son was just temporarily blinded. He knows he was wrong now. Please, Mrs. Shaw, be the bigger person and forgive him. The partnership between our two families must go on..."

Naomi Kenway cut her off impatiently. "Pour the tea first. We can talk later."

Sophia Zobel misinterpreted her words, thinking this was a sign that things might be smoothed over. She quickly urged Christina Lynch to hurry up.

Christina Lynch’s expression shifted slightly, his resistance gone. He picked up the teapot and poured the tea, filling a cup for Victor Vance as well. His movements were a little stiff, and since he was distracted, he accidentally spilled a little.

Victor Vance watched him with a smile. "Christina Lynch, oh, Christina Lynch. A man nearly forty years old who doesn’t even know how to pour tea? I truly never thought I’d see the day you’d be pouring tea for me. It was always me waiting on you hand and foot, without a single complaint. For the sake of your ’taste of home,’ I gave up my career to be a full-time housewife, serving you. I poured your tea, took off your shoes, and washed your feet. You had maids, but you never let them do it. You used the word ’happiness’ to tie me down for so long. I didn’t just have to serve you; I had to serve your mother and your grandmother. I had to do it all without complaint, a smile plastered on my face. What was your purpose in marrying me? To get yourself an exclusive, live-in maid?"

"Enough!" Christina Lynch said coldly. "I never forced you. Why are you acting crazy? There are cameras all around us. You may not care about your reputation, but I do."

"That’s right, you didn’t force me." Victor Vance lowered her eyes and said softly, "From now on, it’s your turn to pay me back." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Her last words were too quiet for Christina Lynch to hear. He frowned and asked, "What did you say?"

Victor Vance only touched the cup for a moment before speaking. "This tea is too hot. Get me another one."

Christina Lynch unwillingly poured a new cup.

"It’s too cold. Change it again."

Victor Vance’s voice was still gentle, but her words infuriated Christina Lynch. Sophia Zobel grabbed his arm, urging him to calm down. After a few deep breaths, Christina Lynch managed to compose himself again.

This went on several times. Just as Christina Lynch was about to explode, he finally heard Victor Vance say it was acceptable. He subconsciously let out a sigh of relief, his back covered in a cold sweat.

Victor Vance gave him a smiling glance. "Getting this angry over a few cups of tea? Do you have any idea that I lived like this every single day for the past few years in your home?"

Christina Lynch fell silent. It wasn’t out of guilt; he just didn’t want Victor Vance to stir up more drama in front of the cameras.

Sophia Zobel clasped her hands in front of her, looking unusually tense. She asked tentatively, "Mrs. Shaw, the tea has been poured. I was wondering if your anger has subsided?" She glanced to the side. "If you’re still not satisfied, I can call Renee Jennings in from outside. You can hit her or curse her however you please."

"Mom, we’re recording a show," Christina Lynch reminded her. Those were not words that should be said in front of cameras.

Naomi Kenway did want to teach Renee Jennings a lesson, but cameras were everywhere. If she were to hit Renee Jennings, it would probably trend on social media.

"What’s the hurry?" Naomi Kenway shot her a look. "I haven’t even had a sip of tea with all this chatter from you two."

Sophia Zobel smiled and took a few steps back. "Take your time, Mrs. Shaw. There’s no rush, no rush at all."

[Who is that? Best Actor Lynch’s mom? The mother and son look quite alike.]

[Did Christina Lynch not know who Naomi Kenway was before? I remember in the last episode, he was so arrogant his head was practically in the clouds. Why is he being so subservient now?]

[Best Actor Lynch’s mom is dropping some serious tea. Feels like there’s something we don’t know. Judging by her tone, is the Lynch Family trying to suck up to Nina?]

[Wait, is something wrong with Christina Lynch? If what his ex-wife said is true, then he’s disgusting. On the surface, he’s this model doting husband, but in reality, he’s a demon who manipulates and exploits his wife!]

[You can’t just say things like that. Best Actor Lynch’s ex-wife got what she deserved. Who told her to cheat! Best Actor Lynch is great to Rachel, isn’t he? Super doting.]

[No way? Are people really that naive about love? Christina Lynch is an extreme chauvinist. Does anyone really think Renee Jennings changed him? That his past awful behavior was just because he hadn’t met ’the one’? Stop gaslighting yourselves. A scumbag is a scumbag. He won’t magically change for someone, especially when his chauvinism was ingrained in him by his family. It’s in his bones!]
