Chapter 275: Chapter 275: Ms. Kenway’s Remarkable Strength

The candy-coated chocolate drops were colorful. Their shells began to melt along with the chocolate cookie centers. Nathan Lynch gave the concoction a stir with a straw, and the watermelon juice completely changed color.

Carina Sanders stared blankly at the watermelon juice in Nathan Lynch’s hand, her surprise written all over her face as she frowned slightly.

"Nathan, your watermelon juice... it looks so weird."

Nathan Lynch’s concoction could hardly be called watermelon juice anymore. Its murky color was nauseating to look at and utterly unappetizing.

Jared Woods looked over when he heard her. He pointed at Nathan Lynch’s juice and burst out laughing. "Hey, everyone, look at Nathan’s watermelon juice! It looks even grosser than the one I made!"

Hearing this, the other young guests all turned to look at Nathan Lynch’s watermelon juice, their jaws dropping in unison.

The production team didn’t intervene. For one, this was just a child’s innocent, playful improvisation. For another, the task itself was meant to be something of a prank.

Nathan Lynch, not expecting to suddenly be the center of so much attention, calmly added another handful of rainbow chocolate drops, making the color of the juice even more indescribable.

Simon Sawyer frowned, looking utterly helpless. "Nathan, that watermelon juice doesn’t look very good. Why don’t you try making another one?"

Jared Woods kept laughing. "Your mom’s going to get a stomachache, Nathan!"

Carina Sanders nodded. "With all that salt, it’s really weird. The color is weird, too."

Only Ian Shaw supported Nathan Lynch. "You can’t judge it by how it looks," he said seriously. "A lot of food that doesn’t look good is actually delicious."

Carina Sanders nodded silently. She believed Ian was very knowledgeable, so she didn’t offer any more opinions.

Nathan Lynch shot him a grateful glance, then looked down at the juice before him with a serious expression. "Chocolate drops are my favorite thing. Mom will definitely like them in her watermelon juice. This is how I can show her how much I love her."

Nathan is such a good kid. Renee Jennings has given him a hard time so many times, but he never gets mad. He’s still trying to make a delicious watermelon juice for his mom.

Renee is so unlucky to be saddled with a stepson like this!

This is obviously on purpose! Nathan Lynch is so vicious at such a young age. He must be listening to his birth mom and doing this to mess with our Renee. All the other kids can tell the juice is off, I refuse to believe Nathan can’t! He’s deliberately torturing Renee! What a malicious child. And after our Renee gets up before dawn every day to cook for him and help with his homework. What an ungrateful little brat!

The user above has to be Renee Jennings’s burner account, right? I hope you get to live the ’good life’ too, getting dragged out of bed before dawn every day to do homework. Why are some parents so into patting themselves on the back? Did she even ask the kid if he wanted that?

Uh, is it possible the only reason Renee Jennings gets up before dawn is to put on her ’no-makeup’ makeup?

Kids have simple minds. If they think chocolate drops are delicious, they want to share them with the people they’re close to. They’re giving you what they think is the best-tasting thing in the world. Nathan didn’t eat a single one of the chocolate drops in his bowl; he put them all in the drink for Renee Jennings. How does that not show his love for her? Don’t be so quick to call a child malicious, it’s incredibly hurtful. He’s just a kid!

I thought Jared Woods’s juice was peak disaster, but Nathan Lynch’s is on a whole other level. Hope Renee Jennings doesn’t get carried out to the ICU.

She won’t end up in the hospital, right? Everything Nathan put in is edible. At worst, she’ll have a stomachache for a couple of days.

Ever since being exposed for her fake "no-makeup" look, Renee Jennings had been distracted. She had just secretly contacted her agent.

Her agent told her that this kind of scandal spreads quickly, but the studio was already doing its best to suppress it. He had also chewed her out, calling her brainless for slipping up on a variety show.

Renee Jennings felt aggrieved. Her agent had been the one to create this persona for her in the first place, and now he was turning around to blame her. She had recently had a falling out with Christina Lynch, and she didn’t dare talk back to her famous, veteran agent.

She returned, fuming. To make matters worse, Naomi Kenway and Chelsea Raines were always hovering nearby as they picked watermelons. Her soured mood affected her, and Renee Jennings’s pace slowed visibly as she worked listlessly.

A whistle blew. Renee Jennings snapped out of her daze and hurriedly loaded the watermelon in her hands onto the truck. The three hours had passed in a flash.

A staff member glanced at her. "This one doesn’t count. You got it onto the truck after the time was up."

Renee Jennings grew even more irritated and turned to walk away.

The guide, holding a megaphone, called for everyone to gather around.

Naomi Kenway dusted the dirt from her hands and walked forward alongside Margaret Jennings.

"The three-hour task is over! We saw how hard everyone worked, so let’s give them all a big round of applause!" As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding staff began to applaud. Nigati and his family, who had arrived late, also clapped along.

"Alright, now I’ll announce the results from the watermelon harvest—"

"First place goes to our very own Ms. Kenway, with a total of 243 watermelons!" He started clapping as he finished. "Ms. Kenway, you’re truly in a league of your own! You’ve consistently secured first place!"

Naomi Kenway smiled. "Just lucky, I guess."

The guide smiled back and continued, "Second place goes to Ms. Raines, with 221 watermelons! Congratulations!"

Chelsea Raines smiled and instinctively glanced at Naomi Kenway. She had grown up doing farm work, so even though she’d lived a life of leisure since then, she still had an experiential advantage over the other guests. It was no surprise that she herself had picked over two hundred watermelons. The surprising part was that Naomi Kenway had managed to pick so many as well.

She lowered her gaze slightly, hiding her thoughts. ’It seems Naomi Kenway is a master at playing dumb. She’d pretended to be lazy and spoiled in front of me before, but as soon as the show started, she began working herself to death to get ahead of everyone.’

"Third place is Ms. Renee Jennings, with 196 watermelons!"

Renee Jennings forced a smile. ’She’d been so sure she could get first place,’ she thought. ’It was all Naomi Kenway’s and Chelsea Raines’s fault for getting under my skin!’

"Fourth place is Ms. Ruby Preston with 189 watermelons, and fifth place is Ms. Margaret Jennings with 186!"

Having secured a respectable second place, Chelsea Raines’s voice was full of delight. "Where’s the ingredient pack? Bring over the prize! I can’t wait!"

"Not so fast," the guide said. "Ms. Raines, I’m afraid you’ve forgotten there’s one more step to our task. The children have carefully prepared some refreshing watermelon juice for their moms. Please, follow me, and let’s go take a look!"

The guide led the way, with the guests following behind.
