The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 242: Let the Entire Nation See Your Disgusting Face
When Naomi Kenway focused her gaze, she saw that Walter Ford was already helping Jenna Shaw off the stage.
Ever since witnessing Walter Ford’s manipulative tactics during their last shopping trip, Naomi Kenway had a poor impression of the man. But matters of the heart were hard to interfere with. Jenna Shaw and Walter Ford were childhood sweethearts; a few words from her could hardly change anything. It was best to say her piece and leave it at that.
Even so, Naomi Kenway couldn’t help but sigh.
Jane Chandler and Jonathan Shaw had already started mingling with the guests, and Jenna Shaw and Walter Ford were busy as well.
Naomi Kenway hadn’t been given any instructions, so she simply stayed seated and chatted with Chloe Murray. If Jane Chandler didn’t ask her to do something, she wouldn’t. Rushing to help would likely earn her no credit, and Naomi had no intention of doing something so foolish.
Speaking of which, Naomi Kenway scanned her surroundings but still didn’t see any sign of Ethan Shaw.
"Nina, what are you looking for?"
"Nothing."
The sound of conversation drew closer. It was Jane Chandler and Mrs. Clementine Coleman making small talk, with a numb-looking Clementine Coleman standing beside them.
As fate would have it, the group stopped right in front of Naomi Kenway and Chloe Murray.
Jane Chandler praised with a smile, "Clementine Coleman is so accomplished. Getting a double major abroad at such a young age, and always at the top of her class."
Mrs. Clementine Coleman replied humbly, "Oh, not at all. You’re too kind."
"She’s smart, sensible, quick-witted, and lively—truly the best candidate for a daughter-in-law in my heart. My son has a rather quiet personality; they would complement each other perfectly."
Hearing this, Mrs. Clementine Coleman looked a little embarrassed and didn’t dare to look toward where Naomi Kenway was sitting. "Should we talk somewhere else?"
"Why move? There’s no need to avoid her. It’s better if she hears this and recognizes her own place. I certainly don’t like a daughter-in-law who is disobedient and talks back to me."
The people around them began to whisper:
"I’d heard that Mrs. Shaw doesn’t like her daughter-in-law, but I didn’t think it was actually true. No wonder she’s always with the Clementine Coleman Family’s daughter. Turns out she’s already picked out the next one."
"Isn’t this going too far? Her methods are too extreme. She should at least wait for them to get divorced before finding a replacement. Isn’t this just a slap in Naomi Kenway’s face?"
"The Kenway Family has fallen. Once they lost their value, they were cast aside. I heard a long time ago that Mrs. Shaw was looking for a new daughter-in-law. Poor Naomi Kenway, she’s about to be kicked to the curb!"
...
Chloe Murray’s brow furrowed as she listened. "That venomous woman." She turned her head, her face full of worry. "Nicole, did you hear that?"
Naomi Kenway’s expression seemed perfectly calm, but a closer look would reveal the fire raging in her eyes.
"Kara, please watch Ian for me."
Chloe Murray nodded, but then saw Naomi Kenway stand up to leave. "Nina, where are you going?"
Her leg was injured, so she could only watch helplessly.
Naomi Kenway walked straight to the champagne tower, took a glass, and slowly walked over. Then, to everyone’s confusion, she abruptly flung the contents of the glass forward.
Her expression was placid as she watched Jane Chandler’s miserable state.
The liquid trickled down from the tips of Jane Chandler’s hair and into her collar. She frantically wiped her face and clothes with a handkerchief.
"Naomi Kenway, what do you think you’re doing?!"
"What am I doing?" Naomi Kenway swirled the empty glass in her hand. "What am I doing? Isn’t this exactly what you were hoping for? I thought you came over here spewing that filth because you wanted me to hit you. Now that you’ve gotten what you wanted, you should be smiling. Why are you yelling at me?"
The banquet hall wasn’t overly crowded, and everyone who heard the commotion turned to look in their direction.
"Today is Jenna’s engagement party! Must you make a scene? Do you want everyone to laugh at the Shaw Family?"
"You’re the one making a scene! You were just fluttering around, chirping like a sparrow. You don’t think *that* was a scene? If I were to just swallow my anger now, I’m afraid the line of people laughing at me tomorrow would stretch from one end of Veridia to the other!"
"You!" Jane Chandler fumed. "I am your elder."
"Don’t you dare try to pull the elder card on me. You know exactly what you’ve done. Do you even think you deserve to be called an ’elder’? If you’re so desperate for a new daughter-in-law, I’ll take out a newspaper ad tomorrow. I’ll have all the social media influencers promote it for you. With a whole country of people, you’re bound to find one you’re satisfied with, right? And while we’re at it, we can let the entire nation get a good look at your vile, disgusting face."
"You! I’ll have my son divorce you immediately! You won’t be smug for long." Jane Chandler suppressed her rage.
"Fine. I’ll be waiting." Naomi Kenway gave a provocative smile. "How many times have you said that? And what’s the result? Has Ethan Shaw divorced me yet?"
"Don’t get cocky. Do you really think my son likes you that much? I bet he didn’t tell you he went on a blind date the other day, did he?" Jane Chandler let out a mocking laugh.
Naomi Kenway’s body froze. Her fingers clenched into tight fists as an indescribable, furious sense of betrayal filled her chest.
Ethan Shaw had been greeting guests at the front. Hearing the commotion, he rushed over. "What’s going on here?"
Naomi Kenway shook off his hand, took Ian Shaw by the hand, and started to leave. "Kara, I’ll contact you later."
"Naomi Kenway!"
Ethan Shaw shouted. His gaze fell on Clementine Coleman, and he instantly understood. He chased right after them.
"Ethan Shaw, where are you going? Get back here!" Jane Chandler yelled, furious.
*
Naomi Kenway left with her child on a yacht. A shout came from behind her. She saw Ethan Shaw standing on the shore, his worried gaze fixed in their direction.
"Mommy..." Ian Shaw nestled into Naomi Kenway’s arms. "Don’t be sad, Mommy..."
He snuggled closer, rubbing his cheek against her affectionately. "Don’t be angry, Mommy..."
"Mommy’s fine." Naomi Kenway reached out and ruffled his hair, forcing a smile.
After the great outburst of anger came an extreme calm and rationality.
After returning home, Naomi Kenway told Ian to go to the small bedroom and pack his things. Naomi went into her own bedroom and started packing as well.
The sound of frantic footsteps rang out. Ethan Shaw grabbed her arm, his voice slightly unsteady. "Where are you going?"
Naomi Kenway shook his hand off, her expression relatively calm. "I’m taking Ian to live somewhere else for a few days."
"When will you be back?"
"Come back? We’ll see."
"Nina..."
"Don’t bother me." Naomi Kenway dropped the suitcase to the floor. "I’ve had enough. Jane Chandler looks for trouble with me again and again. She’d find a reason to pick a fight even if I just stood still."
"And you." She looked up, tilting her head mockingly. "Weren’t you all happy to go on a blind date the other day? What are you pretending for in front of me now? You’re just like your mother. And to think I actually believed you were protecting me. Looking back, I was just a joke, completely kept in the dark and deceived by the two of you. You two must have had a good laugh at my expense behind my back, haven’t you?"
"If you wanted to get rid of me so badly, why didn’t you just say so? I wouldn’t want to trouble you to go through all this effort. I’ll sign the divorce papers in a couple of days. I’ll grant you your wish, how about that?"
Naomi Kenway said through gritted teeth. After Jane Chandler had mentioned Ethan Shaw going on a blind date, her emotions had been pushed to their peak.
"No..." Ethan Shaw panicked instantly. "Let me explain. I didn’t go on a blind date at all! I didn’t know it was a blind date. The information I was given had been swapped."
